WAF - how very sad, I must admit I am useless at knowing what to say to people in these situations. Much strength on getting through the day. Flowers

In good news - the part-time Classroom Assistant job for which I was interviewed weeks ago and had abandoned all hope, has been offered to me on a one year contact. This is just the buck up I need, so am very pleased and have bought a small carrot cake from M&S in celebration.

We start half term this week, I can't believe it's arrived so fast. I really hope DD2 has done OK in her tests this week. She feels she is the stupidest in her class.

Mrs S - so glad your DD is obviously fine and settled at school. Good luck with your new job.

Herbs - have a great interview.

bigTillyMint · 16/10/2015 15:08

Enjoy, CV!

Well Done HattyWineCakeFlowers

motherinferior · 16/10/2015 15:18

Fab, Hatty!

I have had very nice lunch with Monty.

addle · 16/10/2015 15:31

Hello all,

Good luck with the interview, Herbs, and the new job, Mrs S.

I spent the day with by db and dsis yesterday in the town where we spent our teenage years, celebrated our dps and scattering some of our df's ashes. We were really lucky - it was a beautiful sunny day, we got on well, walked and talked and share memories all day. Feel very lucky and am now exhausted enough to sleep for days. Thinking of all of you with ailing dps and how very hard it is.

Flowers all round

cressetmama · 16/10/2015 15:45

Things are currently on a fairly even keel at SS Cresset but a decade ago when DH was desperately ill, I would have liked to have crepeys around to comfort and console. Allow me to pile high the super-positivity vibes and strength mantras for those that are being put through the wringer, and plump up the pillows for the insomniacs and the ailing.

And in addition, here is a pic of the Cressethound!

Crepe Fear!
Auriga · 16/10/2015 15:52

And the Aurigadog. This is her being Good (liver cake just out of shot)

Crepe Fear!
Stropperella · 16/10/2015 15:58

Ooh, lovely shiny coat, Cresset Grin

Many congratulations, Hatty. Enjoy the carrot cake! And possibly some Wine ?? :)

Addle, that sounds like a day that is as nice as it possibly could have been, under the circs. Hope you can relax this w/e.

Hope Herbs got the job!

I have spent a ridiculous amount of time on a handwritten letter of application. And my wrist hurts now. Grin

cressetmama · 16/10/2015 16:10

The Cressethound was looking down into the garden for squirrels to pursue and murder. She is ruthless, and the local vermin wardens are great fans.

Re-sprayed for the picture this morning Grin.

cressetmama · 16/10/2015 16:11

Aurigadog looks distinctly similar of breed, and I cannot believe she has to be bribed motivated to sit obediently like that.

herbaceous · 16/10/2015 16:20

It is evidently a day for education career success as... I got the job! For the moment it's two afternoons a week, teaching adult literacy, but to be reviewed (upwards, I presume) after Christmas.

I did get a positive vibe from the interview, and even though I cocked up some procedure-type questions they still want me!

And it's right near a most excellent TK Maxx, in which I bought a most excellent pair of silver leather Diesel hi-top sneakers, which I absolutely LOVE. The lesson I take from this is that great shoes bring good luck.

My interview was in the morning, and I then went to my East End secondary for the afternoon, teaching some EAL students. I'm going to have to wind that right down now... Poor lambs.

magimedi · 16/10/2015 16:29

Congratulation, Herbs. Great way to finish the week.

Am v jealous of working next to good TK Maxx.

Stropps, I hand write things so infrequently nowadays that I have to have a little practice first!

bigTillyMint · 16/10/2015 16:32

Well Done Herbs! Love the lucky Diesel sneakers tooSmile Hope you're having WineandCake tonight!

Stropps, hope this luck in getting jobs in education passes on to you too.

herbaceous · 16/10/2015 16:37

And well done Hatty from me, too!

I shall be having wine and curry. With a good chum. Tomorrow I shall just potter, and go to a 7th birthday party, then Sunday we're meeting up with some of DP's rellies on the South Bank.

I think that relaxing schedule should meet with Sister BD's approval! I need it - this week has been exhausting. Each day I've done something new and difficult, so it's been like starting a new job every day.

CointreauVersial · 16/10/2015 16:40

Excellent way to start the weekend Herbs and Hatty - new jobs a go-go!

Lovely doggie pics (and what an impressive verandah you have, cresset). I will spare you pics of upside-down dwarf hamster.

DS is back from paintballing, but oh, the stench in the car on the way home.

Rosebag · 16/10/2015 16:53

That's very touching and beautiful, Addle...really it is.

Huge cheers and congratulations to Hatty and Herbs on employment triumphs. Well done indeed Star Wine

I am not a dog person at all but Cressethound and Aurigadog look like appealing pets!

Thats interesting, Magi Do you find your spelling has got worse since you've been typing so much...mine certainly has...combined with the effects of rapidly lengthening eyesight and old age... Grin

I am trying to rally myself from a horrible morning...first battling through heinous traffic in order to deliver flowers and a gift to DFriend, whose function we are attending this weekend. This, having dispatched DD to the bus stop with a huge kerfuffle and much shouting because she couldnt find her headphones and clearly prioritised this over catching the bus. Angry

Then DDad....well, he's terrible. I could hardly rouse him and he wouldn't even attempt to sign DM's birthday card I got for him to give her on Sunday. He really is knocked off...mostly the progression of his disease, but also he's not eating and is insulin dependent so his blood sugar is very low. I hope the Dr is going to deal with this.

I have had bugger all luck with an outfit for the weekend, so have just ordered several things from Next including a black jumpsuit, an LBD, hopefully with a bit more give than the last one, and a black evening top with a bit of sparkle that will be my default with my black evening trousers, if all else fails. Assuming it fits of course. Thank heavens for next day delivery and that it's on account....

Well it's been a crap day....but in line with my philosophy of finding one thing to smile about every day..... here goes. I finished teaching the last class of a course last night and gave the clients the inevitable feedback sheet to fill in. Reading the responses later, it was all quite positive, but one answer to the question..."What was the best part of the course for you?" was written simply thus.... "Rosebag" Smile

cressetmama · 16/10/2015 17:02

Congratulations all round!! Pours Wine, "Cheers" to all crepeys. Have a lovely weekend all, and obey the instructions from the last page to do the nice things for yourselves.

Lalsy · 16/10/2015 17:04

Lovely crepeyhounds and garden!

WAF, how terribly sad. I am so sorry.

Stropps, I think it is great that dd will let you hug her and is trying. I know it must seem such a mountain to climb, but if she is moving in the right direction even if it is at a pace that means boxing clever later on, that is great...glad crepey support is helping.

Sad and stressed crepeys all, you write stonkingly well about bereavement, illness, teenagers, families, mental health, work....it is quite something reading a lot of posts at once [wells up].

And Herbs and Hattie, whoopee.

Lalsy · 16/10/2015 17:05

Sorry Rose, X posted. Flowers

bigTillyMint · 16/10/2015 17:07

Rose, try being a Primary School teacher for doubting your spellingsGrin
and well done on the thing to smile about.

My thing to smile about? The clock saying 3pmGrin

And Addle, glad you had a lovely day to do thatSmile

magimedi · 16/10/2015 17:53

Spelling has never been my forte but I meant the physical act of writing - not just a shopping list or quick note but the rare occasion when I sit down to write a proper letter to someone. I use pencil for most day to day stuff (can rub out 'mistakes' in X word!) and find I need to write a line or two on scrap paper to get the handwriting back into shape again when I use a pen.

motherinferior · 16/10/2015 17:56

Angry Sad

Just had conversation with Dsis. Told her I found yesterday v stressful.

"But you don't even like her," she says.

YES BUT I AM DOING MY BEST TO, AND I STILL FOUND IT BLOODY STRESSFUL.

I love my sister but now I feel slightly worse. I am allowed to feel complexity about our mother. And it is, frankly, not easy to sit through anyone's terminal diagnosis.

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/10/2015 17:57

Congratulations, Herbs and Hatty! Yay!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 16/10/2015 18:06

Yay indeed! Well done Hatty and Herbs - fantastic. And silver shoes are great - like leopard they are 'neutral' imo

Yes of course you are allowed to feel .... whatever you feel about it MI - and personally I think not liking her much (if that's true) makes it more rather than less complicated.

Stropps lovely - hang in there. You are doing a good job even if it's hard to feel that you are. And you can't have too many hugs when you're a teenager (or a Mum). Have a hug from me too.

Rose, fingers crossed for clothes working out.

Hi Cresset, Hi Chilly, nice to see you hanging around with the rest of us!

Good weekends to all. We're going to the opera tomorrow (one of my favourite things) and haven't too much else on that we have to do.... which suits me fine.
