"One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress."
— Karl Lagerfeld

Its that time of year again when our thoughts turn to winter woollies, Christmas jumpers and party dresses. Come and join our musings and purchasing, high end and high street, we love them all.

The grey KG boots are lush Shop and silver hardware too. Might have to take a look at them if I manage to pack two small children into the car and get to the shops!

shopafrolic · 22/10/2015 09:25

Matches have refunded me........

libertydoddle · 22/10/2015 09:25

Worth a try Shop. I prefer the grey ones too. Have you called Matches yet? impatient for an update

I ordered two skirts with onedog's M&S code

Button front tan suede
Chocolate A-Line leather

libertydoddle · 22/10/2015 09:26

Oh cross post! Well done shop Smile

shopafrolic · 22/10/2015 09:47

"As a gesture of goodwill" they also refunded my delivery charge Hmm

shopafrolic · 22/10/2015 09:50

Love the leather one for you Lib
I am now the proud owner of two pairs of Sam Edelman Karen boots :) Just need a social life now!

LinusLovesBretons · 22/10/2015 09:54

Morning!

Well done on getting a refund shop but their gesture of goodwill is ridiculous.

And I really like those bikers, worth a try.

lib I can really see you in those skirts, especially the dark chocolate one.

maradesbois · 22/10/2015 10:08

Morning!

Good news Shop and well done for your tenacity but rubbish cs that they only did it because they saw you weren't giving up. Very shortsighted of them particularly at a time when the customer has access to similar boutiques worldwide via mytheresa, luisaVR etc and loyalty harder than ever to retain.

onedog welcome! Have to admit was very confused and thought you were 'our' One nc at first Smile.

Speaking of you One surprised you don't do trainers, would have thought black or other dark coloured ones would look great with your style.

Linus I'd love to have a night out with your dm and her high tops, am sure it would be a blast Grin

On my way into uni, ootd is blue ts skinnies, marant boots, thin black polo neck fm white co with short sleeved grey marni cashmere jumper and maison scotch tweed jacket. Am still enjoying rediscovering my existing wardrobe and don't really feel the need for anything new right now.

Lib very nice. Love how your colour diagnosis seems to have liberated rather than restricted you.

shopafrolic · 22/10/2015 10:50

I know Mara not sure I'll be bothering with Matches again....lots of other choices who could hopefully do better in that situation. I'm kind of kicking myself for just accepting the refund and not asking for compensation but I was so tired of it all I was just grateful to get my money back.
OOTD is White Co joggers, with Ash Jalouse boots (haven't worn these for ages, it's like being reunited with an old friend), black GAP merino crew neck and black biker. Day of errands today.

libertydoddle · 22/10/2015 11:04

It's the leather one I really have my fingers crossed for - I am slightly worried that I may look a bit 'broad of hip' in it. The suede was an impulse purchase on the basis that I'll have to go to the store to collect a parcel anyway Blush.

Mara you are right, the diagnosis has liberated me! I feel more confident trying out different things as I figure even if the style isn't quite right then at least the colour suits me Smile.

Also I have been working on feeling better about my body. I don't tend to be too negative about myself but I usually have a constant thing in my head about wanting to lose 7-10lbs. I decided about 4 months ago to stop weighing myself and instead make it my objective to feel good about my body as it is. So I have been doing pilates, getting massages, getting brows done regularly, spending more time on things like moisturising after a shower etc and have decided to spend my money on clothes that suit the shape and size I am now. Previously I wouldn't have splashed out on a leather skirt on the basis that I would when I lost weight but now that I've decided I'm not losing weight I feel free to just get lovely things and enjoy them now!

Stokey · 22/10/2015 11:41

That's a great attitude Lib, I definitelty prefer not looking at the scales and just focusing on fitness ( although have gained recently!).

Welcome onedog, annoying about GAP jumper. I had one like that from Uniqlo last year that I regretted not returning.

Have you tried Adidas Gazelles Linus? They're good for the slim footed and not too chunky. Hush normally have reasonable discounts in their winter sale if you can wait that long. Tends to be best in January though, I held onto the bitter end last year and got some PJs for £15.

Great KG bikers Shop, I'm tempted.

Viva you asked about tights? I was in black opaques with suede mini the other night. Today am in a denim mini with grey woollen tights, grey and black striped JCrew jumper and old charcoal cowboy boots, black biker jacket when out.

libertydoddle · 22/10/2015 12:43

Outfit sounds great Stokey. I am still in PJ's Blush, immersed in report writing. Need to get dressed now for a late afternoon meeting.

Dry forgot to say yesterday that I think brown boots would look good with berry skinnies and grey sweater as long as everything is warm toned. I only wear black footwear now if I am wearing black skinnies or black opaques.

BerniceBobsHerHairAgain · 22/10/2015 14:11

Lib before I was beaten to it, I was going to suggest a suede skirt for nights' out - leather a good choice too as more hearwearing and more classic I think.

Hmmm Linus I have also been pondering your trainer dilemma. I wonder if it is in your head and you just don't feel comfortable as I could see you in the styles you've said you can't do.

So my latest suggestion (making it my mission to get you into trainers Wink) is some Nike Rosche or thea in black - I could see you like this blogger - she has a very classic style, she is wearing them again here.

Dry a berry jumper for you but not great fabric mix as usual from Topshop.

Shop glad you got your refund eventually A Markus Lupfer jumper would be great for you. I would really like an Etre Cecile one but that feels like a frivolous purchase too Sad

QueenC these are a bit like the Boden boots you like but not leather.

Welcome OneDog

QueenCardi · 22/10/2015 14:20

Hello all. Great news shop. Do you get to keep the top too?
lib brilliant advice to yourself and I'm trying to do the same a bit. I can't shift this excess weight but tbh I think my body has just become comfortable with it. My boobs also seem to have shrank (have myself an intervention and need to go down a size) so I think a lot of it is hormonal/menopausal changes going on. I've often found that my body changes about 3 years and I always put it down to kids but it's just the fact of getting older. On the plus side my legs, arse and arms are more toned than they've ever been.

Anyway, I'm going to need your help putting a working wardrobe together.....

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 22/10/2015 14:30

mara I think it may be that they never seem to suit because i have relatively small feet. i usually find childrens trainers fit the best in terms of comfort but they aren't always the most suitable or subtle really. i keep telling dsis i'm going to go wild and buy childrens trainers with the lights in the bottom Grin Grin

shopafrolic · 22/10/2015 14:50

QueenC the top was sent back ages ago - that was the whole issue. Just relieved to be getting my money back.

libertydoddle · 22/10/2015 15:20

Your DSis would have a heart attack one if you got light up trainers!

LinusLovesBretons · 22/10/2015 15:42

Love the sound of your outfit mara!

Thanks for not giving up on me bernice, I like the look of those Nikes. I don't know why I've never tried them on so I will see if DS fancies going shopping with me tomorrow.

lib I like the way you think about your body. I am feeling a lot happier with myself since losing weight but I do let what the scales tell me influence how I feel. I attach too much importance to a number and I should really change that.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 22/10/2015 16:06

I know she would lib which is why i wind her up about it. She mostly hates my dress sense anyway so it would just push her over the edge if i really did get light up trainers Grin

going to see Dp this weekend, hoping it's not going to be too cold as i'll e travelling light so ive got room for my computer as ive got work to do while hes at work. I really need to push myself to actually do some of it though rather than just wasting the days

MarshaBrady · 22/10/2015 16:53

Love the Milanese style!

Very mild and sunny - good looking people Grin

LinusLovesBretons · 22/10/2015 19:31

Just read that Raf Simons is leaving Dior! Shock He was only there for about three years but he did turn out some wonderful clothes.

I wonder who's going to replace him?

Ujjayi · 22/10/2015 19:40

Linus I just heard about Raf Simons too. Apparently he felt that 6 shows a year (incl 2 haute couture) didn't allow enough time for the creative process. He is what the brand needed at the time but he needs more breathing space than they allow.

Larastheme · 22/10/2015 20:05

Sad, I read that too, poor thing, it is a very stressful position,i think dior is the most succesful couture house at the moment, he really likes to take his time to create his designs, I've seen many documentaries about desginers designing their shows but I've never seen any designer approach the whole process like Raf does, he is a perfectionist, very much involved in every step, the way he combines different techniques to couture is incredible , i really loved how he stayed true to the house legacy, not like galliano, who did some incredible clothes but they were so far from Dior creations,

,

Larastheme · 22/10/2015 20:09

I have a crush on Raf, , love the way he talks, could listen to him all day, he reminds me of a more serious Christoph waltz,

LinusLovesBretons · 22/10/2015 20:18

It really is a shame as his clothes weren't only an artistic success but a commercial success as well, which the Men in Suits must have been happy about.

lara I had more of a crush on his right hand man (Mulier, forgot his first name). He got on with everyone and was utterly charming.
