Countdown to Christmas princessing

Helgathehairy · 31/08/2015 11:58

Just a short message. Every year (well for the last 3 anyway) I have started a thread for a princessing countdown to Christmas. It runs for 100 days to take us up to Christmas Eve. I'll do a proper message and links later as I need the laptop. This is the "anyone interested" thread

So in! 10lbs down in 5 weeks so another 2 stone to go. Went to town today and bought a few lovely pj's to replace the skanky huge ones from when I was pregnant which was 4 bloody years ago!
I've just come out of a huge fug and feeling loads better so bring it on. I want to be in my Christmas photos this year, not the one just taking them because I feel so yuck about myself.

Cherrypi · 06/09/2015 01:24

The mobile hairdresser kept ignoring my texts so I've booked a cut at my old salon. A proper hairstyle instead of everyday ponytail here I come.

HeffalumpsnWoozles · 06/09/2015 09:01

In preparation I have so far;

Started to use my Rio Sonicleanse, startling just how much make up was left after cleansing by hand.

Bought a Rio 60 second facelift thingy, concentrating on jowels and upper lip but doing the other bits every other day.

Used my Lumea and marked on the calendar when I need to do it again.

Flossed every day and burnt all taste buds away with Listerine.

Bought a water bottle (one you can add fruit too for flavour, infusion bottle I think they're called?) to take to work rather than drinking hot chocolate and diet fizzy drinks all day.

Fake tanned upper body, the legs might get a going over tonight but it seemed a waste as the weathers colder who's going to see them?

Not a bad start but not sure it will last, back to work Monday so up at 5 and in bed by 9/10pm. Long days so not as much time to princess, I did buy some Rescue Remedy night drops in the hope I could sleep more than 4/5 hours a night though. The minute I wake up I start thinking about what I need to do the following day which is bloody annoying!

RJnomaaaaaargh · 06/09/2015 10:49

Was some one asking about hair masks?

The moroccanoil one is the best I have used but Avon Argos oil mask is almost as good, a very close second and a fraction of the price.

HMF1 · 06/09/2015 11:20

At 50+ I might be a little old for princessing but I love the idea & need to get out of a rut. I will do a proper list but the main ones are, go back on 5:2, drink more water & cut down on weekend wine consumption. Sort out make up so I will book a lesson in Frasers & buy some new things (for a birthday treat), exercise more & start doing yoga at home again.Sort out wardrobe for a/w & conside priorities for replacements. Schedule weekly time to do manicure & pedicure.

Helenagrace · 06/09/2015 14:24

Back on the diet wagon in preparation and sticking to new skincare regime. Using clinique balm cleanser which is lovely.

I need to remember to drink more water. I'm thinking there must be an app that could beep at me or something.

I am alternating decaf coffee with normal and feeling ok with that.

I've signed up to play hockey fir a veteran ladies team. I may actually die doing this.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/09/2015 14:36

Ooh can anyone recommend me a bodyscrub for pre-waxing that's non-oily but abrasive enough?

I used the dregs of one tub of Soap&Glory (the lime one) but it leaves a 'film' which is nice to use, smells gorgeous but no good for wax.

TIA

Karcheer · 06/09/2015 17:33

70 I'm using up a Sanctuary one but it's very oily, so won't recommend, don't like it anyway.

Dh and I went out last night, I had to panic epilate my lower legs but everything else was done, I also wore the orange dress from my capsule wardrobe, so that's good too. Last night I had a cheat meal inc two glasses or wine and 3 chocolate truffles, I didn't have my afternoon snack so hopefully not too bad.
Today is rest day from the gym and I've missed it. I think I might move my rest day to Wednesdays as I think that'll be better than Sundays.
Right now I'm considering a packet of Chipstixs this isn't good :(

Had the chipsticks :(

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/09/2015 20:35

After this mornings scrub I've just epilated my legs (evii little contraption, fine for legs but not putting it anywhere near my armpits or bikini line)
Hair dye done and a deep conditioner on (will sleep in this)
Double cleanse and some Superdrug overnight glycolic overnight peel.

If I remember I'll put some handcreme on tonight.

(I know the Official Princessing doesn't start for another 9 days but I'm ancient so I need a head start Wink )

tappitytaptap · 06/09/2015 20:59

Twllbach I am pregnant too and want to do this, will be 25 weeks at xmas. Have put on more weight than I wanted so far due to morning sickness and not having the appetite for lovely healthy food which is a bit rubbish! I'll have a think about a list.

ScarlettInSpace · 06/09/2015 21:08

karcheer don't worry about one measly bag of chipsticks Wink

I had a Cinderella day today - cleaned my house, dressing table is clean & organised & beautiful, found loads of make up I forgot I have & some fab princessworthy samples!

Then had a proper bath [no frickin dettol though!] With hair oil & body scrubs and face masks and wine twas lovely.

Can't believe the weekend is over already though Sad

ScarlettInSpace · 06/09/2015 21:09

70 genuine q why an epilator & not a razor?

Karcheer · 06/09/2015 21:17

70 I only epilate my legs, too evil for anywhere else.

I've prepped brekkie, snacks and lunch for tomorrow.
Had salmon, brown rice and salad for dinner, now drinking peppermint tea.

I need to do a hair treatment, but I have been putting Moroccan oil on each day.

I need to do something with my hair, it looks too scruffy down, ideas anyone?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/09/2015 21:28

Razor leaves too sharp a bristle for me and I'm a dark haired fair skinned type so it doesn't look good to have a 5 O'Clock shadow Blush

Over a long period of time through waxing/epilating, I've got quite fine hair now but it does grow quickly.

I find waxing my legs takes too much wax and time so the epilator is more cost effective but I'm only brave enough to use on the flat surfaces Grin

My DD started with depilatory creams but now has a Ladyshave wet/dry that she uses, she might progress to waxing later (she's 13)

BiddyPop · 07/09/2015 08:37

I turned on the immersion last night, as I was getting clothes together for packing (5 day trip for a family wedding this week!). And forgot that I intended taking a bath - and even forgot that I had turned on the immersion. Blush So we woke at 1.30am this morning to the sound of the tank upstairs thumping away - overflow tank was overflowing with boiling water from immersion. DH had to run off the entire hot tank, it was literally boiling and steaming into the bath. And we turned off the immersion.

So no bath. And no hot water this morning (boiler doesn't kick in until later and was starting from stone cold rather than warm water). Sad

Helgathehairy · 07/09/2015 21:05

biddy oh the fear of forgetting to turn off the immersion! Although I think ours automatically shuts off when it reaches boiling.

I had no idea about immersion heaters being so volatile Shock. Though when I was a studant we had one in digs that was a noisy at 3am type.

My Princessing has taken a downturn........................my hair was light coppery with some nifty blonde highlights.
Dyed it last night, (natural medium ash blonde) applied an overnight conditioner, rinsed this morning, went to work....

It's gone Brown.

I wanted a slightly chestnutty with my lighter bits, but it's a dull shade of brown.

DH says "You can re do your highlights?" but hair can only take so much abuse.

ColeslawSandwich · 08/09/2015 07:52

70isa have you tees the Coco Brown products? They're made for pre-tanning so are oil-free.

Sorry to hear about the hair.

ColeslawSandwich · 08/09/2015 07:53

tees=tried

TheWoodenSpoonOfMischief · 08/09/2015 08:15

I need this! Can I join please?

Here's my list

Stop eating crap
Eat only 3 meals a day
Eat at least 2 portions of veg with lunch and dinner and a piece of fruit with breakfast
Drink 8 glasses of water
Get eyebrows threaded
Moisturise and cleanse
Go for daily walks
Do yoga
Cut down on internet time!!!

Helgathehairy · 08/09/2015 09:59

Dentist appointment this morning. It's been on my list of things to do for a few weeks but I kept finding reasons to push it back but in the spirit of this pre-princessing thread I booked the appointment. Slightly scared of the dentist - although my currant one has lovely eyes!

BiddyPop · 08/09/2015 11:00

I remembered my hand cream this morning. I am reasonably ok at remembering my serum (about 2-3 times a week at least). And doing the exfoliation.

I need to use my inhalers properly again (ok, not princessy but something to add to the "daily list").

Some fruit this week but not great, and veg intake is woeful. As is water. Buckets of coffee though Grin - I'm bouncing off ceilings at 4am!! OK, maybe not so good.

Scared to turn on immersion last night, it just seems to have no temperature control on it at all - and it's on the "to be replaced" list (as are the wardrobes - which were 3rd on the list when we moved in 13 years ago, but are getting done before the end of September - finally!! So immersion is probably later this year or eraly spring).

So tonight will be showering DD, then showering me. I need to style my hair tonight, first since haircut and colour (so always the scary one) before getting some sleep. Pre-3am rising tomorrow, as have to be AT the airport by 4am. My makeup is now going in my handbaggage so I can fix the ravages once I have actually woken up (after bag check, security, and 1st coffee). And because we're flying, there will be lots of water. But there will also be lots of wine (and my coping mechanism - gin) for the next few days also.

So princessing start in earnest at the 100 day mark for me......I will need the recovery Shock

BiddyPop · 08/09/2015 11:02

70s, if you gave it a really good conditioning over the next few days, maybe a hairdresser could work some magic on it?
