Countdown to Christmas princessing

Helgathehairy · 31/08/2015 11:58

Just a short message. Every year (well for the last 3 anyway) I have started a thread for a princessing countdown to Christmas. It runs for 100 days to take us up to Christmas Eve. I'll do a proper message and links later as I need the laptop. This is the "anyone interested" thread

  1. Must drink more water
  2. Definitely lose about a stone
  3. Walk more
  4. Stop wearing old bleach-stained
trackies/t shirts around the house!
  1. Try to moisturise every day
ScarlettInSpace · 03/09/2015 07:32

Right I've put some thought into my list, there's some things I do anyway but some things I need to do regularly.

  1. Gym x3 per week & Shred x3 per week. Use gym sauna once a week.
  2. Just walk the bloody dog every eve instead of arguing for half an hour with DH about it
  3. At least 1 cup green tea every day
  4. No carbs after 13:00 - I tried giving up altogether but really struggled to run so will try this rule instead
  5. Have a proper bath once a week instead of occasionally wallowing in bubbles with a glass of wine reading until the water goes cold. Use hair & face masks, body scrub, do eyebrows, finish with 8hr cream on face. I am so shit at remembering I have put it all together on a recurring appointment on my task planner Blush. I've decided Friday is a good day for this.
  6. No alcohol in week. A Wine with my Friday bath [see above] will be my reward, and something to look forward to rather than the evening norm.
  7. I own 100+ nail polishes yet I never use them properly. I resolve to use a different one each week and stop painting over light ones with dark ones when they chip. Remove & repaint is now on my Friday checklist.
  8. Keep my dressing table clean, organised and princessworthy. Not the current slatternly dusty higgledy piggledy mess it always seems to become quite quickly.
9. Wear jewellery! I have loads and always forget to wear it, I will make the effort to make thus a habit, as it really lifts your appearance. 10. Stop using lazy face wipes and cleanse & tone every night, it makes a huge difference to my skin. 11. Start using vits again, I defiantly stopped earlier this year after 4.5 years unsuccessful TTC, but really what harm can it do to take 1 bloody vitamin tablet every night. [Also need to go back to GP but that's a different thread lol, I'm hoping if I feel more princesslike I will feel better equipped to tackle that merrygoround again]
Cherrypi · 03/09/2015 07:40

I'm in.

  1. Alternate drinks with water
  2. Brush teeth and floss more often
  3. Dry September
  4. Repaint toe nails when chipped
  5. Get eyebrows threaded monthly for shape
  6. Get a pixie cut
  7. Yoghurt or porridge for breakfast
  8. Wii zumba three times a week
  9. Have fruit or vegetables with every meal
  10. Go for more long walks
RJnomaaaaaargh · 03/09/2015 07:54

Im in. I'll work out my list later.

Helgathehairy · 03/09/2015 09:09

scarlett what's a proper bath? Because wallowing in bubbles with wine is my idea of heaven!

OP posts:
Aoifebell · 03/09/2015 09:17

Just going to ask the Helga Grin

I was good last night. Walked the dog for half an hour, flossed and brushed was in bed by 11! Today I'm going to Wilkos to get a cheap filter jug to make water a bit more bearable!

Doilooklikeatourist · 03/09/2015 09:44

scarlet I'm going to pinch that dressing table idea !

Adds to list ...

Do I remember from a previous list ... A Proper Bath is a warm bath with Dettol in it , and a sudocrem face mask ?

Olddear · 03/09/2015 10:02

Day 1.
Threw out all stained 'housework' clothes
On my second glass of water/lime juice (not a water drinker)
Fruit/yoghurt organised for lunch.

Helgathehairy · 03/09/2015 11:31

I remember the dettol bath and sudocrem face mask! Never tried either. Just seemed too scary!

OP posts:
IPokeBadgers · 03/09/2015 13:57

Was reading this thread with interest and was about to post my own wee list, and then I got to:

dettol bath and sudocrem face mask

Now I am just confused Smile Did a wise mumsnetter recommend this?

Helgathehairy · 03/09/2015 14:32

ipoke I think it might have been the original princessing thread it came up on. Basically the dettol was supposed to be great for all skin scrapes and things and the sudocrem I think was recommended to be used overnight.

Was never brave enough to try either! I could never image how you'd get the sudocrem off!

I've been thinking about mine and here is my list;
1)Update a/w wardrobe with ONLY quality clothes.
2)Get a facial, either salon or home once a month minimum, weekly would be best.
3)Update blonde hair to a suitable brown with reddish lowlights for a/w.
4)Alternate drinks with water.
5)Maintain current regime (because I'm still princessing after starting last year with smooth legs, nice baths and lots of different moisturisers for face, hands, feet etc).
6)Invest in new/good skincare (old stuff is running out so I need new anyway).
7)loose weight (the hardest one but once dd starts f/t school in 2 weeks I should have a bit of time to myself, currently I'm trying to eat sugar free and most meals consist of eggs and vegetables or meat and vegetables.
8)drink wine at the weekends not in the week.
9)Try and go to bed early 3 nights a week to read and better myself with scented candles and cushions and nice pyjamas.
10)ummm, space for another thing.....

PurpleSkyatthewateringhole · 03/09/2015 14:40

I gave dd sudocrem face masks as it eased her eczema! She was 3/4 months old. Eventually the doctors relented and gave me a steroid ointment to help her!

InQuiteAPickle · 03/09/2015 18:25

Has anyone started already or are people waiting till 100 days before? (When is that, btw?- actually don't answer, I'll stop being lazy and look on the calendar).

I've kind of started although I'm being crap with water drinking and I don't look very "Princessy" today. Hair is in need of a good wash for a start!

On the plus side, I've been walking lots and I've lost 4 pounds! Whoop whoop!

ScarlettInSpace · 03/09/2015 19:23

Haha I don't mean bathe in dettol wtf Grin

No I mean proper as in I will actually do all the things I pretend to DH I do in the bath, face/hair mask, body scrub etc. I currently mostly just hide in the bath drinking wine & reading til the water goes cold Grin

ScarlettInSpace · 03/09/2015 19:26

pickle I'm spending the next week or so getting into the right frame of mind oh and buying shit to start the princess transformation

Karcheer · 03/09/2015 22:14

I've had my nails done and bikini waxed, clean eating, walked to the swimming pool (about 30 mins), swam and walked back.

Felt very unprincessy today as my boss came into work, she rarely does, she looked amazing, she has very neat bobbed hair, mine was scraped back in a messy half pony, half bun, I was wearing a faux missoni top and bottoms which is nice ish but looked so cheap compared to her, and she was just in jeans and a black maybe silk top. How come so people look so polished even though they are totally casual?

Anyway, not letting it unmotivated me.

What can I do to make my long layered hair look more polished?

RJnomaaaaaargh · 03/09/2015 22:54

Okay my list - some of it I am already doing:

1 two litres of water minimum every day
2 five training sessions a week minimum
3 hair cut if needed but definitely coloured every month when I get paid
4 keep going with the microdermabrasion and the salicylic acid products
5 eyebrows tinted. They are a good shape just need regular tidy ups.
6 fake footer every six weeks :-) just for fun
7 shellac nails again, plus toes, which are well worth is as last about two months
8 improve diet - less sugar and alcohol and processed foods, cook more, more vegetables/salad
9 1000mg vitamin c every day
10 body moisturiser after every shower or bath.

That feels like a lot somehow...

Helgathehairy · 04/09/2015 11:19

rj you just reminded me I have fake footner in a drawer - somewhere! Must dig it out.

Helgathehairy · 04/09/2015 20:21

So a bit of a Primark shopping spree today - all for DD though. 3 pairs of PJs, 6 pairs of tights and a sparkly dress.

She's sorted for a/w anyway!

GirlsonFilm · 05/09/2015 09:42

Having had a terrible day yesterday I've realised that it's much better to do something anything rather than sitting on my arse moping.

I'll post my ten targets later on, but I'm going to get on with a deep condition of my hair, a home mani, eyebrow maintenance and set up mfp to give me a bit of a kick start.

Aoifebell · 05/09/2015 09:44

Hope you're ok Girls?. That should all make you feel better. Good idea for deep condition for hair I need to do this but taking DD swimming first.

Which one do you use?

Karcheer · 05/09/2015 17:19

I use the Moroccan oil one.
I've had a good week lots of exercise and good food :)
Finally got my eyebrows done yesterday. And veeted my moustache today. Also epilated the bottom half of my legs.
Feeling progress is going well ATM, but cheat dinner tonight and day off gym tomorrow so got to hope that doesn't screw me up!

AWONI · 05/09/2015 18:05

From earlier princessing threads, I have some brilliant habits, like I wear BB cream and mascara every day, I have a good am/pm skin care routine and I take my vitamins every day. So on the premise that sometimes habits stick with me....

  1. listen to my Paul McKenna thing every evening
  2. do some exercise every day, DVD, walk, run if I'm feeling enthusiastic
  3. drink 2 litres of water every day by buying a 500ml water bottle, and making sure I fill it up and drink it 4 times a day. Simples Grin
  4. face exercises. I think they're working...
  5. go to bloody bed at night instead of fannying around. 10.30pm. Every night. Need to think of some sort of penalty/reward to actually make me do it because I'm dreadful and I'm shattered most of the time so I just get really irritated with myself!
  6. body brush before shower, body moisturiser after.
  7. one night a week do a pampering night - coconut oil on hair, manicure, epilate legs, tidy eyebrows.
  8. do some UFYH 20/10's every day. My house is definitely not fit for a princess!
  9. and 10) Hmm still working on them....
