I'm assuming Cosrx are Korean and not Chinese? In which case it's perfectly possible that they don't test on animals - it is not mandatory in Korea (actually it's not in China either for domestically produced cosmetics which don't claim to provide sun protection/whitening etc anymore).

The Cosrx stance is a bit suspect to me though because the Reddit poster didn't ask if the products were tested on animals, she asked if they were cruelty free which is not really the same. If the snails are encouraged to secrete mucus by using an electrified netting for example it may not be "animal tested" but it's hardly cruelty free.
Just to add I NOT saying Cosrx do this, just that they haven't yet clearly stated they don't.
It would be lovely if some of these companies stated clearly what their harvesting methods involved, but until then I must admit I am still using my Mizon snail gel.

lucysmam · 06/09/2015 18:57

That's interesting, I thought any product had to be tested to be sold in China. Off to google I go after the girls go to bed Smile

RenardeRenarde · 06/09/2015 19:29

The rules changed very very recently (July maybe?) but sadly the exemption only applies to a fairly specific band of products so far :)

lucysmam · 06/09/2015 20:05

Ah, I didn't know that. I shall do some googling once I eat pudding and sit down with a mask.

lucysmam · 06/09/2015 20:41

Forgot to ask - would those of you using tretinoin/retin-a/retinol in some form or another mind posting links to what you have? I'm thinking of trying one but there are so many out there, I'm not sure what to buy!

AngelaRipp0n · 06/09/2015 23:49

I used to get Tretinoin/Retin a from EBay, I found the gel easier to tolerate than the cream, retinol is over the counter and not as strong/effective. As you know I've given up recently after trying for about four months, once I've settled into the new job I'll try a retinol and see how I get on.

mowglik · 07/09/2015 00:00

I use skinceuticals maximum strength retinol - think my skin has got used to it now as it no longer stings and I haven't had any peeling from this but I do layer over other products. I also use cerave PM on nights when I use this (3 times a week). Been using it a couple of months now and i haven't seen a huge difference yet

I used retin-a in the past and I found the retin-a micro to be much gentler than retin-a cream though it did still cause lots of peeling (the reason I gave it up). Got this from an online chemist for £3-4 a tube

muddlingalongquitenicely · 07/09/2015 05:39

Just had an email from innisfree they are having an anniversary sale up to 50% off products and 50% off delivery costs for 7-9th september

muddlingalongquitenicely · 07/09/2015 06:00

Hoping to do something for DH when gets back. He went indoor fishing and a walk round the shops so he said it was no different from usual lol!

lucysmam · 07/09/2015 10:36

Thanks Angela and mowglik, I had been looking at the LRP Redermic R but the reviews are not great for the money.

There are some reddit threads I'm going to have a read of later on, there are some amazon retin-a products I'll have a look at on those. I think I will probably go with a cheap ebay one though.

I'm hoping that an improvement in texture will help to squash the urge to pick and fiddle.

muddling, I got that email too. They wanted rather a lot in postage last time I looked - can't remember how much but I was Shock at how much it was. Is your dh away with work? Does he know anyone out there?

wickedfairy · 07/09/2015 17:43

Well, I STILL can't get the app to work on my iphone - I have deleted and reinstalled and it still says it can't connect to Mumsnet - any ideas?? It means I can't check this thread and keep up to date regularly enough and I am missing you all and your updates :-)

I have just ordered Missha FTE, Sum37 rose cleaning stick and the Scinic honey ampoule (the one in the big jar), so looking forward to those arriving. I am almost finished the Scinic Propolis, which I liked, so I will see how the other one they do compares!

I ordered the COsRx Whitehead power last week, I have been using the Blackhead one and my skin likes it, so will use both, when it arrives! After a month abroad, I haven't coloured too much but the freckles are out, so looking forward to getting fully back into my routine!

I am also interested in retin A (I have asked on another thread about where to buy) - I want it for anti aging and getting rid of sun damage. I am lucky in that I don't really get spots.

For those of you that use it - please can you recommend an online seller. I presume I should start with 0.025%?? Any advice welcome!

lucysmam · 07/09/2015 17:47

wicked, they took it down about two weeks ago now for security reasons so you need to use mobile. You might have to password re-set to something with caps, lower case and numbers/symbols too.

wickedfairy · 07/09/2015 18:07

Thanks Lucysmam, I didn't realise! Thats a pain...

lucysmam · 07/09/2015 18:11

Yep!

The good news (for you) is that the iPhone app should be released soon iIrc...us android users have to wait a while longer Sad

wickedfairy · 07/09/2015 18:14

Ooh, am on mobile now - will take me a while to figure it out ????!

That's good if apps are coming out soon, they seem much easier to use!! Thanks for the heads up, I missed the whole hacking thing when I was on hols!

muddlingalongquitenicely · 07/09/2015 18:25

He is there with work Lucy and there were a few of them originally but its just him and his boss now.

lucysmam · 07/09/2015 21:24

Ah, so he has some company then. Hopefully he still had an ok day!

Who bought the Betty Boop cushion? I neeeeeed a link, please!

I have finally settled on a Missha cushion in #21 to order next week but will need something pretty to carry about (if it fits, of course).

I'm trying a Superdrug Purifying 5 Minute Fabric Facial tonight.

It fits quite well, not overly wet. In fact, there is no leftover essence as in many of the other masks I've tried. It smells better than the last one - there is spearmint oil and tea tree oil in the ingredients and you can definitely smell them. In fact, it's quite eye wateringly strong when you first open the packet.

I'm hoping it'll help calm some of the redness still surrounding the big cc's that were forming heads. I'm sitting in the dark at the mo watching Sherlock so will have a look when I go upstairs next time.

I don't think this one will go on my re-buy list though - I'm just not enjoying them as much as the other ones I've tried which is a shame since they're easily accessible.

Are any of you still using non-AB moisturisers? I need something to temporarily replace the snail gel until I place my order(s) next week, I hadn't realised just how almost empty my tube is. Any recommendations I could pop on my Tesco order?

lucysmam · 07/09/2015 21:31

Eek, I found the betty boop compact but it's £14 on ebay Shock

muddlingalongquitenicely · 07/09/2015 21:41

testerkorea.com/search?q=betty+boop hoping this link works for you!

lucysmam · 07/09/2015 21:43

Yay! Thanks muddling.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 07/09/2015 21:44

Oops sorry didnt realise it was sold out Sad

lucysmam · 07/09/2015 21:46

Urgh...I do so much dithering & deciding & it's bloody sold out

The Superdrug mask is definitely on the do not re-buy list - I feel rather dry since taking it off & even two snailey layers (emulsion and gel) haven't helped much.

AngelaRipp0n · 07/09/2015 22:46

Have you tried any Tosowoong masks Lucysmam I seem to remember that they're inexpensive and good quality.

I'm on the hunt for matt eyeshadow, doesn't have to be AB of course. I got a freebie Clinique eyeshadow thing that was one pink and a brown and much to my surprise it works well for daytime, but Its a bit shimmery. Any ideas?

muddlingalongquitenicely · 08/09/2015 06:36
