New thread...

Interesting Herbs. There must be a glut of foreign nurses then, who haven't got English. Would be quite challenging I reckon, plus they'd need a fair bit of 'medical speak' I'd imagine. Hmm
Still loading washing here. And hurting after Pilatez. Limping now; isn't it supposed to help??? My core is a bit pear-shaped. Grin

herbaceous · 10/09/2015 13:56

I think a lot of the problem is with colloquial English - 'spend a penny' - and the like, particularly among the elderly. Also wondering if care home providers might be in need of my services...

motherinferior · 10/09/2015 14:16

I am trying to think of what we might want to eat next week, with regards to the supermarket order. Or rather what I might (a) want to eat (b) be prepared to cook.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/09/2015 16:29

Oh yes, "spend a penny.". We also have " strain the greens" and "shake the lettuce" in our family. And perhaps more delicately "powder your nose."

We are having fish tonight. Probably curried because it needs using up.

Just grabbing a few minutes of respite between taxi duties, and have made myself a large cappuccino and collapsed on the sofa (should really be getting the washing in, but hey ho).

LOL at "why does cat have ears?" I have often asked the same question about DH and have concluded that they are just there to keep his glasses from falling off.

The DofE debacle rolls on - the school SLT are now involved, and "enquiries are being made". Some of the parents are Very Cross Indeed. DS is glum because he wants to do Silver (DofE is huge here; I would say about three quarters of the year do Bronze, although it falls off after that).

There is good news - my cold is on the wane. Smile

herbaceous · 10/09/2015 17:24

Ew. A decomposing body in an Ikea bag has been found near us, at a place we quite often go for a stroll.

Rosebag · 10/09/2015 17:28

Herbs that sounds like a much needed service??.sometimes I get asked to do some accent coaching where non English first language speakers want to improve their intelligibility.

CV glad your cold is getting better. DS2 did DofE bronze??when it came to DD's turn, I said no, just no. Couldn't face the whole thing again...

Tilly if DD is being put on the spot on by a teacher that doesn't sound good??DS has had this with the wretched Spanish Dept all through the 6th form. Fortunately he's very good at the subject, but has always felt picked on. We have Made A Fuss??.

Ok Crepeys??I got hold of the offending director finally (honestly, I used to complain about HerrD but she makes him look like a pussy cat??). It seems the reading of my play is going ahead on 20th of this month (Sunday week), with final confirmation this Sunday night (she promises) of the casting. I would love to have a couple of Crepeys in the audience??is anyone free and interested? Rehearsals are planned all afternoon, but the reading itself will take place at 6pm (thats when the audience is arriving) and all should be over by 8pm. It's at my house and I can PM further details if anyone is interested. please be interested

GiddyGiddyGoat · 10/09/2015 17:31

EEEEEEWW indeed Herbs. How horrible. I once lived 3 doors down from serial killer Denis Nilsen ('the Muswell Hill Murderer'). he was caught after there was a lot of problems with the drains.... EEEEEEWW.

GiddyGiddyGoat · 10/09/2015 17:33

Oooh, yes please Rose! Are you 'accessible by tube'?

herbaceous · 10/09/2015 17:43

I'd love to have come, Rose, but bizarrely am playing my bassoon in a harvest festival service. I know.

Rosebag · 10/09/2015 18:11

I will PM you Giddy. Never mind Herbs It's terrible short notice??.

motherinferior · 10/09/2015 18:35

Rose, am v tempted but think I should try and finish my own Opus on most Sundays atm.

motherinferior · 10/09/2015 18:41

I am busy looking at my university contemporaries on FB and Swingeing myself with Briars.

bigTillyMint · 10/09/2015 18:44

Sounds great Rose but I will be away - staying with a friend Sat night then onto DMs the Sun afternoon ready for hosp visit.

Feeling a bit glum - DD screeched at DH and I when we tried to ask her about what happened this morning and stormed upstairs. I want to be supportive but whatever I say is wrong and then I'm accused of not being sympathetic, etcConfused

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/09/2015 20:11

I'd like to come Rose. Smile

OP posts:
Blackduck · 10/09/2015 20:26

Rose if I was in London I'd be there - sorry :(. But I am sure it will be fab.

MrsS /0- break a leg :)

BeachysFlipFlops · 10/09/2015 20:32

Oh that's so exciting Rose, a crepey audience..... I would have loved to come, but a little far and dd2 is singing in her Children in Need choir that night.

GGG, Dh was involved, IYKWIM, with Denis the Muswell Hill murderer....

All quiet here, messages are coming through that dd1 is cooking and not dying of food poisoning, so that's good. She seems to be being shipped around Cornwall, drawing. Sounds fab to me!

GiddyGiddyGoat · 10/09/2015 20:41

Thanks for the pm Rose. I'll check with dh about any plans for nexr w/e and let you know when you know it's definite iyswim... and Beachy yes, idswym!

Tsunamis of good wishes to the interviewees tomorrow. Hope you both break a leg (iykwim).

MollyLair · 10/09/2015 20:57

I'd really like to come, Rose! I've got a mad week that week so Crepeys will have to forgive me if I look frazzled. More frazzled than usual.

MollyLair · 10/09/2015 21:01

Lol, just thinking of Rudy's mum. It would be very kind of you to let me into your house. Grin

bigTillyMint · 10/09/2015 21:33

Good Luck MrsS and BD!

MollyLair · 10/09/2015 21:40

Yy, very best of luck with your interviews!

Stropps, ds also had abdominal migraines; they ceased suddenly at about 19 but afaik that happens with boys and not girls, because women's hormones continue to fluctuate. So not sure if my experience helps, except to say they were bloody awful.

Cremo · 10/09/2015 22:07

MI, move away from TheFacebook. Therein madness lies. I snorted loudly when you took dds name in vain! Your choice of phrase made me think, yes that just about sums up a few interactions with dd.GrinShockWink

Giddy hope you knock em out tomorrow.
Back to coalface tomorrow for me. Utter terror.

Cremo · 10/09/2015 22:08

Sorry, I meant MrsS and BD .

GiddyGiddyGoat · 10/09/2015 22:22

Ta Crem - I'll try to knock someone out anyway tomorrow...
