INeedEarplugs · 08/08/2015 23:50

Is there such a thing? If there is, what age would be too old for Nike Air Max?

i wouldn't use my liberty nikes for long walks they'r far too nice Grin though i have converse trainers \link{http://images.productserve.com/preview/8/5678/41/01/3172180141.jpg\like this} for everyday

also love puma \link{http://d2ob0iztsaxy5v.cloudfront.net/product/192003/1920033750_main.jpg\these} but they're not as comfy as the converse/nike imo

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/08/2015 21:47

I like those Converse trainers.

I have those Converese in blue, I wore them that much they are in their last legs now, very comfy .

I have the pumas in hi tops. Tasteful dark purple colour Grin

Floisme · 10/08/2015 09:44

Grin at idea that trainers are youthful. Do young people think they invented them?
I do actually understand young people not wanting to dress like the older generation. But the answer is to create your own look, not to try and bully people with tired put downs.

AmberNectarine · 10/08/2015 10:15

Well I'm 30 so under 'the rules' I can probably just about get away with trainers but...WTAF??

They're trainers for fuck's sake.

Of course anyone of any age can wear them and look good. My 65yo mum wears high tops with her skinnies. She has longer, slimmer legs than I will ever have (despite being 2 inches shorter, what's that about?) and looks great. So much better than if she'd done a smash and grab in M&S for some footgloves.

You're a long time dead folks, wear what you like and don't let the self-proclaimed arbiters of sartorial elegance on MN tell you otherwise!

CrystalMcPistol · 10/08/2015 10:21

Oooh southeastastra love the Liberty print Nikes!

CrystalMcPistol · 10/08/2015 10:21

Amen sister.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2015 10:39

Go, Amber! Grin

Iforgottotellyou · 10/08/2015 11:43

I've got 3 pairs of nike air - all over silver, black & purple and silver with neon pink accents. All from the kids section. I'm 42.

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 10/08/2015 11:49

I understand anyone can wear them, I just don't like them. I wouldn't tell anyone not to, but I wouldn't think it looks good. But then, that's my personal perceptions and preferences. I live in vans and doc martens as I have wide feet and hate formal shoes. I suspect some people roll their eyes at my choices too. 'It's the way of the world.

That said, gym style trainers are on my Room 101 list and have been for years, along with Oasis and Yorkshire Terriers. Irrationality rules :o

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2015 15:32

You are allowed to put Yorkshire terriers into Room 101, provided that you also put in David Tennant, who looks like one.

CrystalMcPistol · 10/08/2015 15:35

I'll allow Oasis into Room 101, I'll cheer them as they drop into the abyss in fact. But Yorkshire Terriers are cute so they stay!

Deeznutz · 10/08/2015 15:44

This place is rife with 'self-proclaimed arbiters of sartorial elegance'.

Most of them, so much so, they feel a need to blog about it ....
Hmm

Sallystyle · 10/08/2015 16:52

My sister has them and she loves them with a passion.

I just got some adidas superstars because I personally find the nike air's too clumpy for my taste, but I tried them on and they were very comfortable.

dexter73 · 10/08/2015 17:34

Deenutz - who are the bloggers on here? I love looking at blogs!

gonegrey56 · 10/08/2015 17:57

Thanks, Amber!
Sentiments much appreciated ....

Lottapianos · 10/08/2015 18:05

So true Amber. Wear what you love and what you feel good in

Libitina · 10/08/2015 19:29

I'm 45 and wear Nike, Converse,NB and yes, even Skechers. Wear whatever you want. Age is but a number.

CambridgeBlue · 11/08/2015 07:09

I'm 42 and thinking of getting a pair :). I've always loved trainers - fond memories of saving up for a pair of Air Max 90s when I was in my first job, Still one of the priciest pairs of shoes I've ever bought but I wore them to death. More of a Converse girl these days (although I was wearing them years ago too) but I can never resist another pair of trainers for comfort, style (IMO) and a little feeling of youthfulness. Do I look a bit mutton in them? Not sure I give a damn :).

INeedEarplugs · 11/08/2015 13:26

I got my white Airmax 90! I can sense this will be the start of a new addiction...

Oh btw I just remembered I already have a Nike Air Max

www.asos.com/auNike/Nike-Air-Max-Lunar1-Trainers/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4317245

I just didn't realise they were Air Max.

I also have a pair of very comfortable Adidas that's been with me for 4 years now. It's black with pink soles, and looks like this

Ooh that's snide Deez

I did have a blog, I don't any more. I don't recall ever using it as a channel to tell anyone they should/shouldn't wear something or to impose an age limit on footwear.

Lottapianos · 11/08/2015 17:24

LOVE your first photo INeed! They are fab

Deeznutz · 11/08/2015 18:52

Don't dish out what you don't like getting back then Amber.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/08/2015 19:09

Deez - can we not just have a reasonably polite conversation about clothes? Surely that's the point of this forum? You don't have to like what others like, but you can surely accept that different people like different things without it turning personal?

I really dislike the whole leggings and tunic look, for example, or droopy White Stuff-esque things, but I can dislike them without being snidey about the people who wear them.
