Too Old For Nike Air Max?

INeedEarplugs · 08/08/2015 23:50

Is there such a thing? If there is, what age would be too old for Nike Air Max?

OP posts:
maybebabybee · 09/08/2015 14:55

Deez do you need help removing that stick from your bum?

Chill out, they're only shoes.

paxtecum · 09/08/2015 14:57

Obviously anyone over 40 should be wearing kitten heels with a skirt.Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/08/2015 14:57

It's relevant in the context that you are discounting other people's choices as ridiculous, whilst unwilling to stand up and share your own choices.

Anyway - cba to argue.

OP - get some trainers. Your feet will thank you, and most people really won't care what you are wearing.

Pantone363 · 09/08/2015 14:58

Ryan Gosling says no to New Balance

Deeznutz · 09/08/2015 15:00

Yea gads! OP asks for a view, I give my opinion and then it's time for a weird pile -in. Keep your arse obsession to yourself.

I know they're only shoes. Farking hideous ones. This is a style and beauty section.

Go figure.

CrystalMcPistol · 09/08/2015 15:01

Have some camomile tea.

maybebabybee · 09/08/2015 15:02

Style and beauty is completely subjective. Who made you Queen Of Everything?

TeresaGiudicesForehead · 09/08/2015 15:02

I love mine. I have a burgundy and dusky pink colourway. they're super comfy. fuck age. I see plenty of people wearing age appropriate stuff and they look shite. Grin

paxtecum · 09/08/2015 15:07

I didn't have a clue that certain trainers are considered to be only for the young.

If i like, can afford them and they are comfy then I'd buy them.

Deeznutz · 09/08/2015 15:07

Never claimed to be 'Queen of Everything' but I will offer a view when sought without seeking permission from you.

Hmm

You need to check your own arrogance levels.

magicgirl74 · 09/08/2015 15:08

I always find the idea that you should'nt wear certain things over a certain age amusing, who the hell decides these things.Im 40 and own several pairs of trainers including nike air max as given my lifestyle which includes several dog walkes a day and general running round after hubby and son are a bit more practical than heels. You should wear what you like and feel comfortable in and not what other people think you should wear.

SummoningDark · 09/08/2015 15:17

I have 4 pairs and have never had any comments about being too old for them I'm no longer in my 30's. They're perfect for walking about all day but not sure about pure white as personally think they look a bit rubbish when even slightly dusty.

knackeredknitter · 09/08/2015 15:22

I prefer my converse, but I quite like the look of the black and white ones

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/08/2015 15:25

I prefer the look of my Converse, but the trainers are definitely better for sightseeing.

willyouwontyou · 09/08/2015 15:28

I'm 42 and I wear trainers all the time...I have a large collection including Nike Air Max. Better than middle aged woman shoes IMO, I may be in my forties but I don't have to dress or act like an old woman

Deeznutz · 09/08/2015 15:47

I personally like low top converse but they aren't clunky buggars liked by computer science students/Sheldon normcores from the age of C&A like the Nike ones. My long retired inner goth says no. Not even in black.

I do think that wearing some trends can make a middle aged person look older not younger.

CrystalMcPistol · 09/08/2015 15:49

You've got to buy them now OP!

VolumniaDedlock · 09/08/2015 15:56

they're just trainers
everyone wears trainers sometimes, even DH's 89yo grandfather

I find nike air the most comfy trainers ever (i like motos best and am V.CROSS that they've discontinued them)

squizita · 09/08/2015 16:39

Deez not all trainers are horrible JD Sports type things though. There have been collaborations with Liberty etc resulting in gorgeous subtle styles of Nike etc.

And for what it's worth I'm also a Converse and Adidas Shell toe for life type.
These are, of course, also sports shoes albeit of more primitive design. Prior to modern methods, they were for sport ... same with Fred Perry and Puma.
I'm not sure you can say you hate trainers except for Converse.
It's like saying you hate make up when you mean bronzer/lip gloss, and are wearing black liner and red lips yourself.

bluebump · 09/08/2015 16:40

I'm 37 and I love my Air Max, I never even considered I might be too old for them!

squizita · 09/08/2015 16:42

...and only in mumsnetland does anyone look twice at a 42 year old in trainers.
It's filed alongside school run dress angst (ie if you live in any size of city with more than one culture/subculture/class at the school no one cares. They wear what they're wearing anyway).

dexter73 · 09/08/2015 17:34

I have a pair of these that I wear with shorts or jeans. I think I have moved from 'trying to look trendy' to 'wanting to wear comfortable shoes'! I think they look very ordinary actually.

SwedishEdith · 09/08/2015 17:39

The very best thing about getting older is how little you care about what people think about what you're wearing on your feet. No-one notices or, if they do, it's fleetingly or cares what other people are wearing.

hotCocolepew · 09/08/2015 17:44

How can wearing something on your feet make you look old Confused?
I'm 46 and always wear Converse and Nikes.
I dont think the Air Max are the most comfortable of Nikes though.

Lottapianos · 09/08/2015 17:53

SwedishEdith, spot on. I was in London town today and saw people from tiny children up to elderly folks wearing all sorts of different types of trainers. And they all looked great and extremely comfy

The idea that you're too old for anything is nonsense. I'm 35 and have my eye on a lovely pair of Nike Airs. Glad to hear they're as comfy as they look! HotCoco, which Nike's would you say are most comfy?
