Whilst impatiently waiting for my decants of Malles portrait of a lady and chanel 28 la pausA I have found a decany of Jicky I bought ages ago ! At the time I was so disappointed and couldn't get past the barn yard opening notes ! Other reviews say a lemon / lavender opening but I didn't get that and had to wash it off ! So having a lazy morning I decided to revisit it ..
At the moment it's so complex and keeps changing but I think I like it .. Not one to wear to work but more a guilty pleasure ! Might have to retry misouko .. That made me feel really nauseous initially .. Like a mix of vomit and dirty nappies ., but I really want to love it !!

I haven't found that at all with my nose samples. They have all been fresh and citrusy which is what I like.

Today I'm wearing Bergamotto di Calabria by Aqua di Palma. It's very lemon verbena and I like it but it doesn't last long at all. I've already applied it twice and I can hardly smell it now.

I've gone for it today and bought Maison Francis Kurkidjan Acqua Universalis.

Love it Smile

Whilst I was browsing I tried Creed Acqua Fiorentina, which was lovely and light and still smells nice on me a couple of hours later, and Atkinson's 24 Old Bond Street which I find quite masculine/musky.

I'm going rapidly off all Jo Malone. I tried the French Lime Blossom which I liked at first, but I'm finding that after a couple of hours I find all hers too sweet. Does anyone else find that?

Can anyone recommend to me a website where I can buy decants? I've got three or four now I'd like to get but its way too expensive to buy the full bottles.

Thanks.

I've just been looking on Fragantia and 24 Old Bond Street is a bloody men's fragrance!

I knew it was masculine! When I said that to the sales assistant she pretty much laughed at me.

That's the last time I go in there!!

ZeroFunDame · 26/05/2015 20:31

Why? You can wear "men's" fragrances if you want. (I love Tom of Finland but just couldn't carry it off.)

Decants are slightly more of an American thing - whereas standard size samples are more easily available from most UK / European online shops - Les Senteurs, Scent & Sensibility etc.

Not because it's a mans fragrance but because the assistant kind of smirked at me like I'm an idiot, and it turned out I was right! I have lost all faith in her knowledge of perfumes Smile

I'm not sure what you mean by samples - do you mean testers or 1.5ml freebies? I'd love to be able to send off for 5 or 10mls of half a dozen of my favourites so far. I think you have to wear them out a few times to really tell if they're worth the money, and 1.5ml isn't really enough to form a relationship iyswim.

Scentsamples.co.UK do decants of several niche perfumes. But they do seem to keep on changing the ones they stock.I swop decants on Fragantica or take part in a split.Sometimes you can buy decants on eBay.There is a very reliable Profumum Roma seller there.Sometimes there are Kurkdjian decant sellers too.I haven't had much success with Crystal flacon which seems to be more American based.

More and more perfumes are being sold in smaller sizes nowadays.I've just discovered that E Coudray have launched 12 ml spray tubes.Malle sell 10 ml refills.Montale sell 20 ml bottles in their treasure boxes. In fact the cheapest way to buy Acqua Universalis is to buy the glass refills.

Congratulations on your new purchase Fortunately.Acqua Universalis is such an uplifting beautiful perfume.

Oh dear... In honour of this thread, I tried Jicky for the first time ever yesterday, killing time before haircut, and I love it! I may have to find a decant!

fortunately · 30/05/2015 21:30

My SOTD is Kurkdijan something or other dans le matin. Sorry I can't remember the name but it's pleasant enough.... Smile

I'm still yet to find Jicky for a sniff. I did try Terre by Hermes and was strongly reminded of hospitals Hmm

I love Perfumed Court and use them all the time Blush! I am saving the next run until we come back from summer holidays as the last brought me MMM Untitled and Lazy Sunday Morning, plus Eau d'Hiver and Angelique sous la Pluie.
