Does anyone like the way she dresses, or is she generally classed as quite boring on here?

Hiya,

I think she dresses appropriately for a royal.

In his novel 'Snobs', Julian Fellowes says that young women from an aristocratic background can wear what they want and can turn up at a country home looking like a hooker in some outfit by Voyage, but that someone from any other background trying to fit in HAS to dress in a respectable manner.

So the heroine of the book, who's managed to 'bag' a duke, dresses in smart suits which her other friends find old and ridiculous. Whenever I see the Duchess of Cambridge, I remember that :-) She's very sensible.

Julian Fellowes and his permanent hard on for the aristos makes me want to poke him in the eye and have him banished to some nice humdrum middle class cul-de-sac.

Re Kate's hair, I remember seeing some photos of her and William when they did that tour to some Pacific Islands and when it was unstyled it was quite wavy and huge, thanks to the humidity. So I'm guessing a bob cut wouldn't suit it best.

PureMirrors · 14/05/2015 14:07

MitzyLeFrouf, isn't Fellowes aristocratic himself? I enjoy reading about aristos in his books, very entertaining, especially as I don't come from that world or country myself. I kind of see him as reporting on that social class to the rest of us. And now that I have a few aristocratic colleagues, I'm amazed at how accurate it is (one of them actually has fake tan, hair and eyelash extensions, just as it his Voyage-wearing aristos quote)

Sansarya · 14/05/2015 16:03

I don't think he's an aristo. His wife is though, the last of the Kitcheners.

VanillaTwirl · 14/05/2015 17:22

Have just googled her pictures from the Pacific Islands, and her hair is quite big in some of them!

She looks beautiful in them though - she's really lovely, I think.

FeijoaSundae · 14/05/2015 19:43

Yes, but even a full-blown aristo wouldn't be able to go around dressed as a, um, 'hooker', in cheap polyester with fake tan, etc - IF - she was married to the second in line to the throne.

I wish like she'd funk it up a bit more like princess Mary of Denmark or the Spanish queen.

Annarose2014 · 15/05/2015 11:08

Oooooh Princess Mary. I have a massive girl crush on her. I lurk on the Royal ladies thread on PurseForum just to drool over Marys outfits.
