Does anyone like the way she dresses, or is she generally classed as quite boring on here?

OP posts:
WipsGlitter · 10/05/2015 19:50

Charlene looks really happy! Very stylish.

GlitteringJasper · 10/05/2015 19:58

But does she definitely have hair extensions? I really thought it was all down to a 'bouncy' blow dry!

I like her style, she looks fab! Love her Burberry coat collections!

Dansak · 10/05/2015 20:01

I am more bothered than I should be that they might be extensions Blush

HerRoyalNotness · 10/05/2015 20:02

Lweji Hmm

And here I was thinking this was an opinion thread. Is my opinion less valid?

Mary of Denmark is the princess Mary I have in mind

JoanHickson · 10/05/2015 20:16

I doubt Cat Cam goes to the Saloon for anything anymore. I am sure her cut colour or anything else is done at home. So either her hairdresser is indiscreet or people are talking rubbish.

jasmine1979 · 10/05/2015 20:21

I am also pretty sure that she now has extensions for volume. She always had good hair, but recently the increased volume has become very noticable and too over the top. Looks a bit silly now. Re Prince Williams comments about her hair, I would imagine that would be because of the extensions? I also think that if you look at what her sisters hair looks like, that gives you a good idea of her natural hair?
I actually really like the long hair on her though, and think that without it she might look much plainer and older.
I'd also love her to stop lining her eyes in black right the way around. She has very small eyes already and the liner doesn't make them stand out but instead makes them look harsh and piggy like. She'd look lovely just lining the top instead.

Lweji · 10/05/2015 20:21

And here I was thinking this was an opinion thread. Is my opinion less valid?

As per my previous post, a silly opinion thread.

It would be interesting if people posting here opinions about Kate would offer themselves to be criticised about their own style and body fat content.

I see no point in offering comments about what we think any woman in the public eye should wear or how thin or fat they are.

GlitteringJasper · 10/05/2015 20:31

Don't post in the thread if you find it offensive! Or hide it maybe?

CatOfTheWoods · 10/05/2015 20:35

I don't think there is anything wrong with having an opinion on someone's style or a particular outfit.

I do think it's wrong if that's only applied to women, or if when it's a woman it's the only thing people think is interesting about her. And it's not very dignified to be really mean, and I prefer to steer clear of comments on people's weight. But this is style and beauty, and fashion, hair and make up are matters of style.

There's a huge industry devoted to the shapes, colours and aesthetic effects of those things, just like there is with architecture, interiors, art etc. It would be bonkers not to be allowed to discuss it.

Lweji · 10/05/2015 20:36

I don't find it offensive and I certainly don't need to hide it, as I'm not sensitive.

But I find it idiotic, particularly that people have such need to criticise whatever someone wears in public.

And I have as much right to say so on the thread, as everyone else to post what they think Kate should weigh or dress.

ReallyBadParty · 10/05/2015 20:38

I find her theme dressing funny e.g, she's at an army thing so wears an outfit with military styling and a pillbox hat; pretend tennis gear etc.

Lweji · 10/05/2015 20:41

I agree with you, Cat. Just really not fond of analysing in detail one person's style, weight, hair, and so on. Yes, particularly women.

GlitteringJasper · 10/05/2015 20:42

Lweji maybe take a wee breath though!! Grin

I don't think people are being overly critical about The Duchess and to be honest I doubt very much she would be remotely interested or care.

She's a beautiful and immaculately groomed woman and I'd kill to look as good as she.

Let people have their opinion on her being slightly too thin or wearing a little too much eyeliner or over wearing those nude shoes! It's just a little bit of escapism and we don't mean harm by it, honestly!!

ProcrastinatingPat · 10/05/2015 20:47

I'm sorry if this has already been asked. But, did we find out where her little yellow dress was from (the one she wore when she presented the baby)

ParkingFred · 10/05/2015 20:48

I think she has an absolutely fabulous figure and always looks pretty perfect.

I also think she is an incredibly dull dresser, but she never puts a foot wrong and could probably not get away with being too trendy or individual.

morechildrenplease · 10/05/2015 20:55

Dress was Jenny Packham I think. Very, very risky too to wear that. Could have gone v badly wrong!

GlitteringJasper · 10/05/2015 21:04

I definitely think she should have worn a dark dress, even if to make us mere mortals feel better!

remembering the time I hobbled out of hospital in leggings and uggs after having dc

Twinklestar2 · 10/05/2015 22:45

I agree Jasper! White dress and white shoes?! Waaaay too risky!

She looked lovely tho! As I think she always does.

I originally started the thread because I'm looking to streamline my wardrobe, go more classic and mature and was looking at Kate for inspiration.

OP posts:
TheCraicDealer · 10/05/2015 23:38

Surely the only risk of, er, pad slippage was when sitting down? Especially when teamed with industrial pants. If she got ready then put on the dress and just shuffled to the door, held baby, went inside and grabbed shit before getting in the car, then surely there was less chance of leakage?

Anyway. Love her hair but they're defo extensions. More power to her, I bloody would. Not so keen on most of her public looks, but I hear a lot of her wardrobe is critiqued by the queen and she has to take her views into account- eg. HRH doesn't like wedges, told her to wear longer skirts and get weights put in the hems to prevent flashing instances. If you're having to take fashion tips from an 89 year old you're going to be somewhat limited in your choices.

What annoys me more is people saying, "oh I feel sorry for George in that get up, he should be in soft jeans and a tshirt". These photo ops are the equivalent of the poshest wedding normal people have ever been to- would you deck your kid out in Florence & Fred for a do like that? No! They probably change him as soon as he's home anyway.

Twinklestar2 · 11/05/2015 06:29

Craic - I liked the way George was dressed, I prefer that to babies in jeans but I thought they could've put him in trousers. I don't understand the long socks and shorts combo?

OP posts:
hollyisalovelyname · 11/05/2015 07:38

I think the thing that impressed me most as Kate stood with her new baby outside the Lindo was the nonchalant way she held the baby with one arm. No way could I do that. I even remarked to DD 2 that it wasn't a real baby. It couldn't be. She couldn't risk stumbling.
I'm obviously short armed. Grin

prorsum · 11/05/2015 07:40

With all the resources at her disposal she really shows how unimaginative she is, serious dearth of imagination on all fronts, hair, make up and clothes.

Her make up is appalling, flat foundation, heavy application with dull colours.

Her clothes are ageing, though I'm approaching 50 and wouldn't wear them.

She needs a trip to Manolo for her shoes.

Sorry this is so negative but you did ask OP.

The most important thing is the woman wears what she likes. It being her body and all. And I do believe she she wears what she likes.

hollyisalovelyname · 11/05/2015 07:42

I was probably comparing her holding of Charlotte to the way she held George at the Lindo photo opps.
Not a criticism, just an observation.

OneLittleLady · 11/05/2015 07:51

i think she looks nice. she's always appropriate for her lifestyle and her status within that. sure, maybe sometimes she looks less great than others but that's just like every other person on the planet. Everyone gets it 'wrong' though that is down to personal opinion and nothing more, and simply put, you can't please everyone.

I can absolutely imagine that if she was really on tend and even a little out there, then there's be people up in arms about her not being appropriate and not dressing like she 'should'

im sure she pleases herself within the limitations of what's expected of her, just like everyone else does

CeeceeBloomingdale · 11/05/2015 07:51

I think her work clothes are dull, uninspired but appropriate, just like mine! I prefer her off duty wardrobe. I imagine her shoe choices are limited by the fact she always has to wear tights so no open toes or slingbacks for that reason. I can't stand breaking in new shoes, maybe she wears the usual suspects as they are comfortable.
