New to Mumsnet- had my birthday a month ago, turned 40, so took the plunge for a bit of botox, to smooth out my crow's feets and forehead lines.

LOVE it! Very smooth face now, hope it lasts another 2-3 months.p
I would recommend it, definitely, although I think people should wait till late 30s not get it too young

Was the upper mouth injection for the gummy smile painful? The crow's feet and forehead was no worse than a quick dense sting then fine. It took about 12 days to work properly.

i don't tell anyone. So dunno.

Aridane · 02/05/2015 13:33

Emma - beware!!!

I was so please with my Botox after 5 days that I went back to the same nurse for fillers along the droopy grooves between nose and mouth (naso labial lines). She also inserted sum under the corner of the lips to combat drooping.

Aridane · 02/05/2015 13:34

For those asking, I went to Skin Health Spa in Marylebone High Street in London.

emmarowlands · 02/05/2015 13:37

I don't think I will tell any of my friends I've had it. I just want to look fresh for my age.

The only other thing I might consider is tooth whitening, but not sure yet

Emma -'I haven't told any of my friends and don't intend do!

Browtox · 02/05/2015 14:02

after 5 days? you cant see a difference that fast

emmarowlands · 02/05/2015 14:05

My friends occasionally talk about botox but nobody has admitted to having it yet!

I think by day five it starts to kick in and can be noticed. I had mine done within the past week and I'm unable to scowl, again. Of course, I was getting mine re-done. But I remember the first time thinking that I could tell it was kicking in in under a week. Full effects about two weeks, I think.

Aridane · 02/05/2015 14:17

Mine showed at day5, and the nurse said to expect the results any time between 5 days - 2 weeks. I was very pleasantly surprised with the results at 5 days

emmarowlands · 02/05/2015 14:24

It did start to kick in 4-5 days after injections, full effect about a week later.
I have been thinking about it since 35, but I am pleased I waited till now.

I think the current trend is to have Baby Botox- smaller amounts to give subtle look rather than frozen and stiff appearance.

I had some done a couple of weeks ago on my elevens, I only told my DH after it had taken hold about five days later, he had no idea so I figure that it doesn't look odd. None of my friends know and I won't be telling them. I'm hoping if I keep it up the lines will eventually go although I'm not sure how long that takes.

emmarowlands · 02/05/2015 16:44

I Might do my 11s next time

DragonsCanHop · 02/05/2015 17:57

How much did you pay for 11s Mrs if you don't mind me asking?

Mydearchild · 02/05/2015 18:08

What about under the eyes too (bags) would botox help? I turn 38 next week and have such horrid crows feet & bags I look older. Don't want the Amanda Holden look by any means but would like an improvement.

emmarowlands · 02/05/2015 18:12

I am not sure Botox is good for under eye bags, filler better I think. Definitely Botox works for crows feet

OP posts:
emmarowlands · 02/05/2015 18:17

Unlike many, I quite like Amanda Holden's Botox look

New to Mn and to Botox, yet so knowledgable.
Not telling anyone in RL yet posting in your RL name on here? Hmm

emmarowlands · 02/05/2015 18:30

I've done extensive research on this for 3-4 years, trying to decide what to get or not and when. So yes, I consider myself knowledgeable about it, nothing wrong with that Browtox

11sor in my case a big 1 would be the first thing to get done imo !! Emma . Should have had some in there at the same time ! That's the most ageing and annoying on most people ! Or could be just me ! Smooth eyes and a big 11 isn't a natural look !

LadyPenny · 02/05/2015 18:36

Mydearchild Do you mean crepy under eye skin or the dark circles/tear troughs. Fillers wont work on baggy skin but I had some for dark circles and it is brilliant. I used to spend a fortune on potions and nothing worked, I always looked knackered. I also have botox for crows feet and elevens. Nobody has ever commented so I think it all looks natural.

Mydearchild · 02/05/2015 18:53

lady damn yes crepy skin. I swear I look more wrinkly than my 61yr old mum Confused

emmarowlands · 02/05/2015 18:54

My 11s aren't that bad Itsaliramarama ??
