New to Mumsnet- had my birthday a month ago, turned 40, so took the plunge for a bit of botox, to smooth out my crow's feets and forehead lines.

LOVE it! Very smooth face now, hope it lasts another 2-3 months.p
I would recommend it, definitely, although I think people should wait till late 30s not get it too young

Let us indi how you get along. A good person will discuss the pros and cons with you, and whether it is right treatment or not for you. Don't go for it if you have any doubts or feel pressurised at all on the day, but hopefully it wil be plain sailing! ??

I'm thinking of getting botox. I did some research and found a dentist (an award winning one Grin ) who has a facial aesthetics clinic. I'm thinking it's good to get a dentist to do it as they have a lot of training in facial muscles etc? I just need my forehead done as my forehead seems to be dropping down to my nose and I have a horizontal line on the bridge of my nose which makes me look like a grumpy git.

Dentists are certainly at least as qualified to do it as the nurses most of us get it from. They do know all the nerves and muscles of the face and they are practiced with precision injections as they do them all the time.

I personally think that paying more to see a medical doctor would be overkill as God knows there are plenty of incompetent doctors in the world. I am happy with anyone who has adequate medical training.

emmarowlands · 07/05/2015 20:14

I think dentists are probably the best qualified overall

I have booked my treatment with a dentist too - it's hard to know where to go as so many do these treatments now and really vary in prices. One area costs £125 with this dentist but others have quoted £200 + . They seem to have a good reputation with lots of before & after pics. I shall report back on the 21st Smile

emmarowlands · 08/05/2015 18:58

Yes, let us know on 21st and in the subsequent days!!!

I'm 40 this year, emmarowlands. I wasn't especially trying to find a dentist that did botox it just happened that one I liked the sound of was a dentist. Not sure if it's expensive 150 for one area, but it makes me feel less nervous about getting it done.

emmarowlands · 10/05/2015 15:47

150 is a good price

Told 2 of my bessie mates today that I gave in to Botox last month.

1 of them, 38, was very critical and dismissive that I had done it.

The other, 40 herself, revealed she'd been having it regularly since 35!

It's such a Marmite thing!
