I have enough Boots points to buy some of those Nip & Fab pads so that is what I'm going to do instead of buying a 30% peel - after all, I already have the Olay Regenerist night serum, which has glycolic acid (not sure how much) and I've been putting that on in the early evening (hours before the retin A at bedtime.)

ilovetosleep · 30/04/2015 13:47

Thanks bigbuttons. I wanted to try Clinique mild clarifying lotion for my salicylic hit and tried to get a sample when I got my city block but they wouldn't give me one :( do Clinique generally do samples?

MrsGuyGarvey · 30/04/2015 14:28

The postie and I are bonding, he's made a delivery every day this week so far, today's was a bumper four parcels only one of which was non skincare.

My Bravura order was one and they included a derma flannel for free as there'd been a delay (I didn't know there'd be a delay!) always lovely to get an extra something. I've got glycolic acid, toner and brush.

The two Lrdp Serozinc sprays came just in time to deal with today's spot, I think I'll just use this if I'm in danger of spots and on my lovely teen daughters if needed.

Lastly was the nutrogena sun block from Amazon, instructions on the back aren't in English, but it looks legit and is supposedly not going to make me look like an oil slick or any whiter than I already am.

My new product to introduce was the clerasil pads both last night and this morning, again in time for today's spot, I didn't find them stingy but they're ribbed but in this case not for your pleasure. A bit scratchy, but I'll persevere with a lighter touch.

DH says I smell like Selfridges beauty dept.

Germgirl · 30/04/2015 14:34

My retinol has arrived.
I'm scared to use it!

bigbuttons · 30/04/2015 14:47

Bah, I paid 11 squid for my derma flannel. What a waste. It's nothing that a rub with an ordinary flannel couldn't doAngry

OP posts:
bigbuttons · 30/04/2015 14:52

but then again the blurb on the back of the packaging does have a huge list of ways you cannot treat your flannel or it will not work anymore.
I think I must have looked at mine in a funny way or something.Very Envy that you got it for free and didn't have to waste money!

I got told I looked fresh faced today.
I was actually covered in makeup as I went back on retin a yesterday and have a bright red face today

m0gz · 30/04/2015 15:23

Can I ask the diy serum experts if this is suitable for making a vitamin c serum please? www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00O278UFO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2USH43P966G34

pinkelephantnightclub · 30/04/2015 15:29

toner dilemma- which to choose? definitely need salicylic as have blackheads and clogged ours-- Clinique mild or clearisil? am a little worried clearisil will be too harsh- any thoughts?

FrugalFashionista · 30/04/2015 15:51

Have used Nip + Fab pads every other night for about a week, now someone at a party said that I look so fresh and well-rested (could have been the red lipstick too). When applied, it makes my skin a bit rosier, but definitely great for glow and I get away with really sheer barely there BB cream.

If your skin is a bit gray after winter, definitely try these! And I am in love with Dr Jart Firming Sleeping Mask - it does not feel like a face mask, it melts into my skin overnight (no mess, everyhing is quickly absorbed) and makes my skin totally smooth and flawless. And it feels lovely and cooling after the glycolic tingle. Totally addictive stuff.

pinkelephantnightclub · 30/04/2015 15:54

nip+fab are glycolic aren't they? or do I have that wrong?

VeryStressedMum · 30/04/2015 15:55

Great new thread Smile

I'm 39, 40 this year, I have olive skin which is a bit oily and I have large pores and pigmentation marks. But my skin has been looking really good I'm really pleased.

So far this has been my routine

AM
Hot cloth cleanse with Emma Hardie moringa balm - totally love this.
Nip + Fab dragon blood pads - these are salicylic acid.
Olay regenerist moisturiser as that's what I already had.

I'm going to find a vitamin c serum and use that in the morning after toning. Any recommendations? I'll have a go at making my own at some point.

PM
Double cleanse with cloth with Emma Hardie.
Nip + Fab glycolic pads.
Estee Lauder advanced night repair serum.
No7 protect and perfect night cream as that's what I had.

I have the retin a 0.025 which I've used once and I just used it after cleansing (no toner) and nothing on top.

I also have Paula's Choice clinical 1% retinol treatment which I quite like, I use it after glycolic toner and put the Estee Lauder serum and moisturiser over it.

I'm hoping the retin and retinol and vitamin c serum (when I find a good one) will even out my skin tone as that's my main problem. I look ok in make up but definitely not without. I've fine lines too so hopefully it will sort that out too. Smile

I bought the Sunsense face SPF but it was quite oily and my face itched a bit. Think I'd have a problem with pilling when I put make up on. I'm going to buy the LRP Anthelios today and see how it goes.

Redfox · 30/04/2015 16:05

Yes I am another one that has been reading Caroline Hirons and this thread and the other thread trying to work out what to use. And mainly I want a "your skin looks amazing" comment too!

But there is so much info, a bit too much for my poor brain to decipher! I am 47 with (I think) combination skin with some congestion. I still get the occasional spot (s!) I would like to have some radiance back into my skin and get rid of the pesky whiteheads that keep coming back on my checks.

I do use the hot cloth cleaning method but to be honest maybe just too often I collapse into bed and clean in the morning but will try hard to change my ways!

I did buy some liquid gold and have used it but don't know if it actually did anything. Would a stronger chemical exfoliator help?

I use any moisturiser but now think I need a non pore clogging face cream.
(without mineral oil in it) See some of what Caroline says has gone in and the
glycolic acid in the liquid gold should help getting rid of the whiteheads I get

So would be grateful if anyone could recommend (ok tell me) what products to use......

Fatstacks · 30/04/2015 16:13

VeryStressedMum · 30/04/2015 16:15

Also forgot to mention I get bumps on my face they are a bit like insect bites but aren't actually insect bites. They are red and itchy and just come up out of nowhere. I haven't been getting as many since I started this regime but I still get a few. They go down after a few days but sometimes if I scratch them it scabs a bit and I'm left with a red mark.
Does anyone know what this is? Is it an allergy?

Tanaqui · 30/04/2015 18:14

I just bought 2 Una Brennan vit c products VeryStressed- 1/3 off at boots; the serum and some little capsule things. Will let you know yow they go unless anyone else has already tried them?

Sallystyle · 30/04/2015 18:19

My poor mum went to boots with me.

In her basket I put in two acid toners, cloths, cleansers, serums and oils.

I told her she needed them then I wrote out her new routine for her. Told her it was time to stop using baby lotion Grin She's a good sport.

EuphemiaCoxton · 30/04/2015 18:30

I went a bit mad in boots too, bought some glycerin. Just need vit c now.
Oh, and new cleansing milk
And ahem, spf for face
This is getting out of hand, I need clothes not more skincare stuff. Dd is 2.5 and I'm still wearing some maternity things and I got my figure back scarily quickly.

bigbuttons · 30/04/2015 18:35

m0gz yes that's fine to use.
I was in our local superdrug today. That and the Boots are an ultra tidily size and don't really stock anything useful. I did spot a lady loitering by the clearasil cleansing pads. She was stood there for very long time looking very bewildered.Wink

Thanks bigbuttons.

In case anyone didn't know there is a triple points event on at boots starting today when you spend £50 online. I am tempted as they also have 3for2 on some LRP that I have been wanting to try - there is probably lots more included in the 3 for 2 that has been appearing in everyone's list but I can't have another peak until dh goes out Grin

My superdrug order still has not arrived so I am still without a serum. I know I should be patient but Im addicted!

Jaded2004 · 30/04/2015 19:29

Hi, I've been following the ch way for a while now but on a fairly basic level as funds are lacking. My skin is much better in that it's clean, isn't dry or flakey and no bumps etc. I'm quitting smoking and eating quite well and upped my water intake but my complexion is still pretty bad. I have red patches that just won't go and my tone just looks uneven. Any tips? Anything in particular that maybe a good plan to add? I have ME and also take some quite heavy medications for another condition so it may be that it's that that's the issue but thought it worth asking Smile

LexLoofah · 30/04/2015 19:34

fatstacks Grin love that film

Dear Mr Postman when is my parcel going to arrive? Am keen to get going, decades have been wasted, decades I tell you!

Also just reading up on supplements, yet more stuff to be ordered methinks when I am fully au fait with what I need/will work/can afford etc

Twitchcoco · 30/04/2015 19:40

Added the caudalie grape water spritz to my stash today a la CH. Beyond excited now, I have the whole regime!
