ilovetosleep, Clinique are better at giving out samples of makeup than skincare, because they have little pots they can just fill up with foundation and so on.

Also, if there has recently been a bonus time, they will often give you samples from the sets left over from the Bonus Time (they are not allowed to give you the whole set once bonus Time is over). Last time they gave me the bag plus two samples of my choice.

I have never seen a sample or travel size mild clarifying lotion, and could do with one for going away. They may not have had any to give you.

Your photo that was up for your skin asking for advice - clay mask? I have been using Luz Earle but am thinking of swapping to the Clinique oil control mask which has a good rating on Beautypedia. Clay seems good at dealing with pores.

Two questions, if anyone can assist:

  • what will work best on bumpy forehead? Not spots as such, just bumps, they've been there for YEARS.
  • I've been using a day cream (Boots P&P) as a night moisturiser too, for ages. But it's just occurred to me it has an SPF - does this mean I shouldn't be using it at night after a lovely double cleanse and acid tone; will it be clogging me up again?

Help me oh wise ones.

Thanks almond I actually have an eve lom clay deep cleansing mask I will try that. When do I fit it in with everything else!

I'm also going to ask for advice on vit c serum and a hydrating serum or day cream for dehydrated but otherwise normal/combination skin. I don't have particularly dry skin any more and my rose oil serum for very dry skin is not really doing the job for my dehydrated but not flaky dry skin. Is hylamide what I need?

And vit c - not sure I have time or headspace to make serum, is there anything affordable that is with buying? I know there was a lot about this on the old thread but I got a bit lost!

DrankSangriaInThePark · 30/04/2015 20:44

tartiflette, effaclar duo has cleared dd's forehead almost conpletely. La Roche Posay.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 30/04/2015 20:46

I just remembered I have an Occitane immortelle water spritzy thing. That's lovely.

plumstone · 30/04/2015 21:05

La pomme not sure on their retinols, but their hydrolonic sheet masks are amazing, so on that highly scientific basis I am a big fan of the range!

What's the opinion on a hydrating spritz toner, it's missing in my life, was pondering on the Body shop Vit C one, and their serum? Thought/opinions, also does anyone have experience on Clinique anti dark spot corrector? Thinking it may help the pigmentation issues in my life! Thanks

Fabulassie · 30/04/2015 21:13

M0gz, I ordered something very similar. I am given to understand that you want L ascorbic and it should be finely powdered.

I am awaiting the powder as well as some distilled water and a bit of vegetable glycerol. I have an amber spritzer bottle so I'm going to be ready to go!

Today I went to Boots and bought the Nip7Fab glycolic pads since I had the points on my cards to cover it. I already have the Olay Regenerist night serum which is about 8-10% glycolic acid.

I figure a mild cleaser, Retin A, Vitamin C serum, Glycolic Acid and some sun screen ought to be all I need.

Oh, and Botox. Gotta have my botox.

BettyBitesBums · 30/04/2015 21:13

Right you lovely lot, I'm about to put in a Boots order and need some help.

I'm getting the Nip+fab glycolic pads and probably the superfacialist vit c serum (although am wondering if body shop one would be a good alternative) but was wondering if there's 3 LRP things I NEED!

Physiological cleanser is on the list but gel or milk? Their retinol redeemed stuff for eyes but what third? Any good moisturiser recommendations or something I haven't thought of?

I am under the impression that Vitamin C isn't very stable in cosmetics as it oxidizes very easily so many people make their own serum with powdered ascorbic acid and distilled water. That's why I haven't bothered to buy any Vitamin C products. I hear tell that after Vitamin A, Vitamin C is the best topical thing to use, but it's just too hard to package as a cosmetic due to its instability.

ilovetosleep · 30/04/2015 21:28

Does anyone know anything about this one?

Active Formulas Vit C serum

It says it will keep for 8 months unrefrigerated? Their make your own kit says it needs to be in the fridge so not sure how that works. I just think I'd forget to use it if I had to keep it in the fridge!

Kundry · 30/04/2015 21:29

Yay, I've found you Smile

I am really liking the LRP Physiological Cleansing Gel, poss more than the Cetaphil.

Cetaphil does have SLS (and I am usually obsessional in avoiding it) but it is very far down the list of ingredients and it doesn't foam at all - usually SLS is the second ingredient in a product.

Kundry · 30/04/2015 21:41

Ridiculously excited as I've just seen CH has reviewed a Paula's Choice BHA product and LOVED it (agree with her gripes about US/UK prices though)

It isn't the exact one I bought but I loved the BHA product I had from Paula's Choice - I'm currently using the Clinique Mild Exfoliating Lotion and it is no where near as good, and I'm using it up much faster that the Paula's Choice which I think (even though she is milking the exchange rate) worked out as better value for money.

Really pleased CH will be looking at more Paula's Choice products and says she likes the retinol as well Smile

kundry I was tempted by the Paula's choice retinol products (was browsing beautypedia) but felt overwhelmed by choice - why does one brand need so many retinol products? For a novice like me it was really off putting as I have no idea what makes each one different Confused

tartiflette · 30/04/2015 22:31

Thanks Sangria. I have some Effaclar Duo but haven't been using it consistently and not since I started acid toning - will get on it.

cathyandclaire · 30/04/2015 23:03

Back2two I tried the Glanglow mask a couple of times on special occasions ( college reunion etc) and I thought it took a few years off me, it gave a real short term glow, I'll be interested to hear if it works longer term ( not that I can afford it!!!)

I've discovered the culprit for my sore puffy eyes, it's my Botanics BB cream, annoying because I really like it. Slightly off subject but if anyone has found a great BB/CC/ tinted moisturiser for sensitive skin I'm in the market for a new one.

Turquoiseblue · 01/05/2015 02:45

Place marking too if that s ok. Had read the first CH tread, but not gotten a lot further.
Am 18 weeks pregnant so skin is nice a glowy at the moment - however the impending ravages of hormonal swings and sleep deprivation make me fear for my wrinkles GrinWink so signing up now as need to sort my routine out now before the chaos hits !

ForSaleChesterDraws · 01/05/2015 07:44

Can I recommend Hada Labo lotion to you folks? It's available on Amazon here.

It's a hyralonic acid based hydrating toner. I use it after my Acid toner in place of a spritz. It's better than the indeed labs hyralonic jelly stuff. It lasts forever and really helps seal in moisture for those of us with dehydrated skin.

There's a good review here as well as lots on trusty make up alley.

CoconutAmericano · 01/05/2015 08:15

Oh no cathyandclaire sorry to read your skin is also reacting badly to the Tretinoin. How are you this morning? My neck is red blotchy and now flaky. Had to apply metanium to it last night it was that bad. Never ever again!! Ladies please dont put Tretinoin on your neck unless you have thick skin with absolutely no sensitivity. I look like i've been splashed with acid Sad

Will try my face one more time once the redness has gone and if im not happy im dropping it from my routine. I say routine but ive had to drop the toning and serums and eye creams since this flair up. Im not a happy bunny right now.

CoconutAmericano · 01/05/2015 08:18

This was my neck last night

EuphemiaCoxton · 01/05/2015 08:24

Coconut mine looks the same! I haven't used tretinoin for about 10 years and have gone back on it. This time for vanity though Grin
I thought I could leap in where I left off, 0.05 for a couple of weeks and then 0.1. Errrrrrm no, it would appear my skin doesn't remember being on retin a and I think maybe I should have gone down to 0.025.
I don't remember having any reaction at all last time. I just used to slap on 0.1 and be fine. This is a gel now and not a cream, I wonder if that makes a difference
