What a day. De-stressing doing homework with DC and letting products sink in. I've been putting off testing the Mizon Starfish cream as it contains a few oils and those tend to be acne triggers for me. This cream has received quite a lot of praise, so am curious. I did a clay mask on my T zone tonight and my skin felt thirsty afterwards, so I am giving this a try. The tin is very pretty, the scent is very mild and pleasant, and it is quickly absorbed. Feeling very silky and smooth. Will I wake up with cysts and bumps - this is how my skincare explorations usually end Confused

VeryStressedMum · 07/05/2015 20:08

It is the anti shine dry touch gel. It's not really thin like a fluid but it goes on really well, and it goes on white but that totally disappears and my face isn't shiny at all. It also seems to control the shine during the day.

VeryStressedMum · 07/05/2015 20:09

That was to U2

lbnblbnb · 07/05/2015 20:11

Is this the one?
Geoff's Pharmacy Tretinion

lbnblbnb · 07/05/2015 20:12

I reckon double hot cloth cleansing is a gateway drug. I never imagined I would be considering retain a and glycolic acid....

VeryStressedMum · 07/05/2015 20:19

Lnb that's how I started..suddenly I've got more products than Boots and an intricate regime that has taken over my life Grin

BrassicaBabe · 07/05/2015 20:25

Hi, may I join you?

I've spent all day working reading the CH thread of 40 pages so I hope it's okay if I jump right in here! If I read these 26 pages you'll have all moved on by the time I get to the end.

Between reading and working I've also managed shopping!!

Here's where I've got to in my shopping and learning process:

AM:
Single cleanse - bought Lancome micellar water
Acid toner – bought clarins gentle exfoliator brightening toner, But have added Nip fab glycolic pads to my shopping list
Serum – undecided. I have a couple of decleor oils I think fit this spot. But unsure.
Moisturise - Already have Decleor harmonie calm
SPF - still investigating. Want one that an be used under makeup.

PM:
Double cleanse – the micellar water and already have Liz Earle hot cloth
Acid toner - as am
Serum – dunno
Retinol - bought the one of ebay recommended in the other thread
Moisturise - as am

Also bought the liquid gold, but haven't worked out where that fits in!

I'm 42 and tired looking with red mild roeacea which is dead aging!

I also like a good Wine with a side order of gin and more Wine, but this is night two of my attempt to go without during the week. Hoping this might help too. (This this one is a step too unreasonable! Hmm)

Anyway, "hi" and thanks for the previous thread. Off to tackle this 26 pages!

FreddieMercurysBolero · 07/05/2015 20:30

Hurray for fellow snail bee converts!

Frugal, I did get a sample of returning starfish and found it a bit meh. I still wanted to buy it for the packaging though?? My skin didn't react to it though, which is always good. Any recommendations for Korean acid toners anyone?

Norfolkandchance1234 · 07/05/2015 21:11

It's taken me a few days to read this thread and the one where CH made a guest appearance as well as reading CH website.

I have gone from using simple face wash and Olay total effects 7 in one which as it turns out was ruining my skin and am now using the following.

Am

Cleanse with cetaphil
Toner nip and fab
Serum superdrug E
Moisturiser no 7 P &P
Make up

Pm

Twice cleanse with superdrug E hot cleanser ( water and flannel)
Nip and fab pads
Tester of serum no 7 P&P ( but happy with superdrug one)
Moisturiser superdrug vit E ( bit too heavy) so just stopping at serum tonight.

I have bought clearasil pads today so will alternate.

I will only use toner in the evenings for the time being I think and no moisturiser at night just stop at the serum.

My skin has improved dramatically since Monday when I started this routine.

I need to look at lighter moisturisers and another serum to alternate otherwise I'm happy so far with what I'm using.

The Clinique toner is probably more suitable for my skin once I've had a couple of months of the pads to get it going.

I love all these new products and everyone's input and hope to get rid of these red blotches I've been getting over the last few months on my cheeks and get back to wearing a BB cream as opposed to the heavier clarins make up I need right now.

bigbuttons · 07/05/2015 21:15

Yes, that's Geoff's pharmacy! I'm glad I went for the1% tretinoin, it'll last me ages as I have to buffer it!
I added Q10 and matrixyl from active formulas to a home made face cream today. Looking forward to putting that on last thing at night tonight!

I got 2 mizon things today: snail slime and a gel sleep mask. Now NO MORE SPENDING!

I double cleansed as soon as I got home from work followed by the nip and fab pads. Waited an hour to use my tester no 7 P&P serum. Skin feels plump and smooth so thinking I might not use a moisturiser before bed. I'll see how my skin feels later on.

I think I might use different products on each half of my face to see which works best for me over the weekend esp toners, serums and moisturisers.

Tbh I'm confused as to what my skin type is right now but the double cleansing, nip and fab pads or clearasil and a serum will def carry on as part of my regime.

Not quite got the moisturiser right yet though.

Shop · 07/05/2015 21:37

Back what have you been using and how is your skin looking?
It's really a case of using what works for you and we're all a little different. If I used went oil free my face would be breakout city but others have the opposite.
It's easy to buy everything & then wonder how you'll fit it all in, I've done that before.

I've been double cleansing & acid toning for quite a while but since lurking in here I've added salicylic to my am routine and a serum (superdrug pure) it's bloody lovely, dirt cheap, seemingly good ingredients & has nice to use.

I've also been wearing just botanics bb cream (another new discovery) instead of full coverage & I'm loving it :) it's very strange not to be trying to completely cover my skin!

Norfolkandchance1234 · 07/05/2015 21:43

Shop - what moisturiser are you using as you seem to be using pretty much most other products that I am right now. I will get your superdrug serum to try.

Teladi · 07/05/2015 21:54

Sorry if someone's asked this already but which Clearasil pads are the ones people use? I've seen two types (in Boots and Asda!) one is 5 in 1 and the other type is Rapid Action.

Shop · 07/05/2015 21:58

Norfolk I've not really settled on a moisturiser so far. At the moment it's liz Earle skin repair, superskin neroli or aldi Q10 night cream.

Shop · 07/05/2015 21:59

I'm using the clearasil superfruits pads from the pound shop :)

Teladi · 07/05/2015 22:02

Nice! I don't have a handy pound shop sadly. It would cost me more to get there than to get one of the other Clearasil ones Grin

Norfolkandchance1234 · 07/05/2015 22:12

Thanks Shop

Teladi the clearasil rapid action are on special offer in boots at the moment. I think the 5 in one are a bit like wipes.

bigbuttons · 07/05/2015 22:23

Don't worry about whether a certain clears sill pad is better etc.they all contain salicilyic acid, which is the ingredient you want!

Freddie thanks for the heads-up - have you found an EU based venom purveyor or do you order directly from Asia/US?

Bigbuttons enjoy snail goo! Have you found any EU-based Biore suncreen vendors?

Whoever recommended Reddit Asian Beauty, a huge thank you, what a fab resource, it's like getting a doctorate in skincare, just the 101 is impressive! Among other things, they do pH measurements of their products and tabulate them on the site

I haven't tried Asian BHAs/AHAs but they definitely use them, some talk here. If I have understood correctly, the ideology is more working with your skin than drastically restructuring it.

They also do not put a lot of emphasis on skin typology. The multiple steps are there so that one can adjust sometimes conflicting issues simultaneously (for example acne and fine wrinkles, or skin that is both structurally dry and blemish-prone). The idea is that you can fine-tune your routine depending on your current needs, season etc: your oily nose might need different stuff than your dry cheeks. Again something I intuitively believe - I am noticing that in 30C heat, some products that were fine last week are sliding and melting off my face. I appreciate that this approach is not for everyone, but so far it really seems to help with my skin issues. So far, I've gotten fab results with just two added steps - glycolic acid and hydrating masks. But really curious about essences...

Norfolkandchance1234 · 07/05/2015 23:05

Has anyone tried nip and fab viper venom serum yet or their no needle plumping serum ? Is it any good?

Frugal - I bought it on eBay, I get most of my Asian beauty product on there. The seller was blueprint21. I also buy iamloveshop and jolse on eBay. I see ratzilla recommended on reddit but it's far too complicated for me!

Heading to Aldi tomorrow gerti, tempted to buy the hyralonic serum even though I don't really need it.Hmm
