Thanks Bustle!!! Will try those! And sorry about name confusion, this thread is huge... Envious about Aldi, I'm a regular at Lidl but would love to try Aldi products, have heard great things about their serum, but no stores around here.

I was worried about getting a breakout on my chin last night and that any added skin cream might make it explode. I slathered the area in Effaclar AI, my favorite breakout zapper, and then put on some Mizon Starfish cream and finally some Good Night sleep mask on the hyperpigmented areas that I am trying to fade (it contains niacinamide iirc). I cannot believe how soft and fine-textured my skin feels this morning, almost like DD2's - and she is 5 and has perfect skin! My chin has healed, and no throbbing brewing cysts, and no oiliness, just velvety softness...

If anyone here is having problems with skin creams and finding them too pore-clogging and acne-inducing, and night creams a nightmare, Korean products are definitely worth a try! The consistency is different from basic European creams, glossier, bouncier and more gel-like. A review of the starfish cream here. If you feel that just about any cream works fine, these are probably not going to be worth the extra cost and faff. And for people with super dry skin, these are probably not enough. But if you have my skin - dry, sensitive and breakout prone - chances are that these are going to be a revelation!

I just want to add that I didn't use any moisturiser last night after my double cleanse, nip and fab pads and serum and my red blotchy overworked skin is looking better for it and has been hydrated enough by the serum it would seem.

I'm now thinking my clarins everlasting foundation could be a factor in clogging my pores up as well as the Olay total effects 7 in 1 which I've binned.

I will find a combination that works so long as all you lovely people keep posting your regimes and products. I'm struggling with a moisturiser for my sensitive skin that has got red cheeks and can be either too dry or greasy, can't win. And am now thinking of a lighter foundation with great long lasting coverage.

Just to say for those fighting breakouts, ingredients like mineral oil and shea butter are sometimes culprits.

I've dropped Redermic for now, am happy with acid toning though as long as I hydrate tone afterwards, my serum is my Decleor oil.

Gerti I'm ashamed of my routine as it is such a low rent one...

Morning:
Water if I am rinsing off a sleeping mask, otherwise nada
Sunscreen (Neutrogena clear face spf 30)
BB cream (a mixture of Dr Jart Premium and Missha #13)

Evening:
Bioderma micellar
Black African soap, castile soap or an old cream cleanser that I am using up
Nip + Fab glycolic pads 2-3 times a week, perhaps with a sheet mask worn after
Hydration (Eucerin 5%, Cerave PM or Korean stuff) and/or a sleeping mask worn overnight

Optional: Effaclar AI on chin and jawline if I am in the PMS period or testing something new

Just the last two steps are new ones, but they are making a difference! And I know soaps are totally taboo but they helped my skin when nothing else did. My skin is dry/normal, I have rosacea/perioral/acne (all in remission), some fading hyperpigmentation from sun exposure and very faint old scarring. Used to have redness prone and flaky skin and occasional acne cysts.

I've just bought snail gel cream and a Korean cc cream from eBay. I blame you lot :) I'm such a sheep.
The Korean make-up & skincare range is amazing. There's so much stuff!

FrugalFashionista · 08/05/2015 08:28

Gerti, I'm not in UK, La Roche Posay Effaclar AI should be available at Boots, I actually buy it from our local supermarket. Sleeping masks: Dr Jart Firming from US Sephora, Mizon Good Night online (check Amazon, eBay, Cult Beauty), there are lots of alternatives that get good reviews so I'm going to try a few others. I've introduced new things one by one, would probably be smart to take it even slower.

ilovetosleep · 08/05/2015 09:40

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the products out there esp all the Korean stuff as well. I'm on the look out for a couple of things I wonder if anyone can make some suggestions. I'd rather buy from boots (am a sucker for points esp if I'm going to maintain such an expensive habit!) So I'm after a sleeping mask like bouncy body shop one or origin drink it up, something like that but one I can get in boots. Preferably under £15. And then I want to replace my old trusty eve lom cleansing balm as I suspect it might be contesting my pores. What I like about that is that it takes off eye make up too - am thinking clinique balm or body shop camomile balm, but do these remove mascara etc as well? And is there an available-in-boots alternative? Thanks! I'm really tempted by ordering some Korean stuff but just totally bamboozled and can't face doing even more research. I might try and track down some sheet masks though - does sephora deliver to uk? Is that the only way of getting the dr jart ones? Thanks again for all the tips on here

Hi everyone - can I join please? Haven't posted for ages but I've been enjoying this thread so much. I have been a CH devotee for about a year and have really seen the benefits. My skin is a challenge - really prone to breakouts, mahoosive pores, pigmentation and scarring, but also dehydrated. And now I'm starting to get fine lines to boot - what a delight! I've had to work hard to find products that don't break out my skin. Usual suspects are mineral oil, lots of perfumes/ essential oils, and Shea / cocoa / coconut butter.

Since following a CH type routine I've seen massive improvements, and it's really helped to restore my confidence. Here's what I'm currently doing.

AM:
Cleanse with Alpha h balancing cleanser - really gentle, non-drying and non-spot-inducing. Highly recommend.

Clarins exfoliating toner (3x week - this has worked wonders on my skin. I went back to this after Pixi glow gave me breakouts) OR LRP effaclar duo on spots and scars only.

LRP serozinc - love this, so calming.

Oskia serum 16 (my splurgiest mistake. Bought after CH recommended spending ££££ on serums. I chose this for the peptides but it seems to be doing nothing and I won't repurchase, what an awful waste of money) OR Caudalie SOS serum (love this, hydrating, sinks in quickly, no spots).

Mizon Returning Starfish Cream (fab texture, has not broken me out or left me dry or greasy. And cheap on ebay!)

PM
Bioderma sensibio micellar water (quick and no spots, wahoo)
Emma Hardie moringa balm (softening, non-irritating, love the smell but ££)
LRP Serozinc
Alpha H Liquid gold OR Alpha H liquid radiance ferrulic acid (and then no more steps) 1 x week each

If not using these Alpha h products I continue with:

Serum:
LRP redermic R (this is great! I've noticed an improvement in fine forehead lines since using it)
OR
alpha H liquid gold night serum (expensive and has a weird smell but am a massive fan of this, it's visibly helped reduce breakouts and pigmentation - niacinamide is a key ingredient for me. Have just run out and can't justify repurchase while I've got so many other pots of things open...

Oil: Clarins blue lotus (maybe 1x week)

Moisturiser
Mizon snail repair cream (love, and cheap off ebay!)
OR
Alpha H liquid gold night cream (a bit rich for me, but my skin loves the glycolic acid and niacinamide combo)

Phew! Sounds like a lot but the products last me a long time, and it's so worth it for the improvement in skin tone, clarity and breakouts. I asked for the more expensive bits for birthdays/Xmas, but in future am planning to shop a LOT more cannily..
Am loving hearing about the Korean products, but can understand that it is overwhelming. The range is VAST! Would love to know more about BB creams and SPF. Have yet to find a SPF that doesn't break me out..

My retina from ebay has arrived! 0.025% :) Manufactured in Feb 15, expires in Jun 17, so all should be well. I've been using LRP Redermic for almost a year and I really like it.

I've been using Cane & Austin salicylic pads (2% salicylic, 5% glycolic) and Cane & Austin glycolic pads (10% glycolic) a couple of times a week. So far, I much prefer the salicylic pads.

Sunscreen has been Zelens SPF30, or Anthelios SPF50 Matte, or Sunsense SPF50 Daily. My favourite is Zelens with Anthelios over the cheekbones where I have melasma. I can't along with Sunsense though (Ocado stocks this!) it feels heavy on me. Also can't seem to take niacinamide (had same problem with LRP Effaclar Duo).

Let the Retin-a routine commence! Grin

babyiwantabump · 08/05/2015 15:57

Sooooo my acid peels arrived today - salicyclic and glycolic . I also found out today I'm pregnant - not expected - can I still use the peels ??

proteins · 08/05/2015 16:05

Yes, I think the salicylics and glycolics won't hurt your little one, but I think that due to increased cell turnover, your skin might not tolerate acids as well as it otherwise would have done before.

It's the retinoids that you are advised to avoid. Ruth Crilly (aModelRecommends) did a series of blog posts about her skincare regimen as her pregnancy progressed.

Congratulations babyiwant

Norfolkandchance1234 · 08/05/2015 16:37

I'm so excited I bought the l'oreal revitalift serum today which I will be trying out tonight and a moisturiser with no SPF ( which I think clogs up my skin) it's revitalift by l'oreal day moisturiser, I'm hoping it's the moisturiser for me.

Teladi · 08/05/2015 16:41

babyiwant - congrats!

plumstone · 08/05/2015 16:46

Baby - Love your post - all excited about peels - casually throws in the fact your pregnant and the first question can I still use the peels. Brilliant - Not sure if it is of interest to you but CH does a You Tube vid all about beauty and being pregnant - Couple of RL friends have used it!!!

babyiwantabump · 08/05/2015 17:03

Thank you - still a bit in shock and was looking forward to using all my lovely new goodies that were on the way! Ah well!!

Will look up the CH video - this probably explains why my skin had gone all funny the last couple of weeks !
