I have also gone from having dry skin to shiny skin.

I think it is my sun screen. I am using sunsense. I was also using a oily fish foundation due to my dryness but may need to change that now.

goodasitgets · 06/05/2015 21:10

I like the nip fab, it's very silky feeling, makes a nice base for makeup. I have combination skin that varies between flaky and huge spots Hmm
But it doesn't break me out

DrankSangriaInThePark · 06/05/2015 21:28

Thanks goodas, sounds good!

theladylovescupcakes · 06/05/2015 21:53

Evening all, I've just read the whole thread (phew!). A lot to take in! I'm a bit clueless and I'd love some help please.

I'm 41, forehead particularly greasy, although my face is not particularly lined, and I have slightly dark circles, no bags.

At the moment I'm using:

AM
La Roche Posay Effaclar foaming gel in the shower in the morning
Garnish moisture match moisturiser for oily skin

PM
Bare Mineralsfacial cleansing oil
Clarins facial oil or Clinique moisture surge
Clinique all out eyes cream

Any comments/suggestions? It's the greasiness that's getting me down really. I use Bare Minerals oil control primer which does help, but eye make up still slips off. I don't use foundation btw, just eye make up/blush/lippy.

Thanks. Just don't know where to start and whether the stuff I'm using is helping or actually making it worse!

U2 sunscreens tend to give me lots of problems, including cystic acne, so it could be that. Bigbuttons is using something that sounds amazing, definitely try that! Foundations can do that too, I've had to stop using a few that I really liked (Revlon whipped cream) because they were too pore-clogging.

m0gz thanks for reminding me of Holika Holika, just love the name, Tony Moly too. My gripe with Missha is that it is a bit too perfumed, so you may have found something much better! Dr Jart feels better on my skin but Missha #13 is a great match for my pale skin so I mix them, wish it was easier to sample BB creams. The Mizon sleep mask is a very neutral one, very close to Cerave feel. I am obsessed with sleep mask so definitely going to try a few more.

FreddieM you are using some really intriguing stuff on your face Grin Bee venom beats snail slime Wink

Goodasitgets, your skin sounds a lot like mine, would love to explore other N+F products as I really like their pads.

Plum your US trip sounds great, and shopping list too. I could spend a fortune in Sephora there.

Sangria I noticed on the other thread that you'll take one of my all time favorite perfumes to the desert island, can we share? I'd love to do an Italian parcel swap but I'm not ready for retin-a yet.

Wanted to share some space-age Korean makeup, just check these out. I do love my Chanel and Nars but they sound so dull in comparison.

Lj8893 · 07/05/2015 00:00

Right I did a big skincare haul today, in 99p store of all places!

I bought a garnier toner which contains salycilic acid, will that be good?
Also I bought a simple moisture mist where will that come into my routine?

bigbuttons · 07/05/2015 06:38

frugal brilliant, thanks for those links and ideas. I shall be checking them out or sure! I have seen Tony moly on eBay too.
You are a perfume addict too?.. I am, I confess. It is an addiction of mine. I have done quite a few swaps etc on fragrantIca. Sadly for my purse my all time loves are higher end Guerlain Blush

The snail bee essence has made a huge difference to my skin. It's evened out my tone and reduced red marks from acne.

I'd like to try a sheet mask but honestly don't know when I'd get the time. I work evenings so that's out. On my nights off I can think of nothing less relaxing than DH making odd faces and rolling his eyes at me for using a sheet mask!

Love the Korean makeup too! The bb creams are fab.considering adding an acid toner, May try the bravura one.

Theladyloves - are you moisturising enough do you think? I used to not moisturise enough as I thought I didn't need to because my skin is oily. After doing some reading on dehydrated skin I realised that my skin was producing lots of oil because it wasn't getting enough iyswim? Now I moisturise lots and my skin is less oily and in way better condition

buttons- is Frugal a perfume lover? Frugal is the goddess of scent! Check out the perfumista threads! but burn your credit cards first Grin

CoconutAmericano · 07/05/2015 08:33

lapomme it's not exactly skincare but I've recently discovered the Botanics Bb cream and I really like it. Since I've been taking care of my skin I have been able to lighten up on my foundation from EL Double Wear to a BB cream.

Has anybody else tried the Liquid Gold recently and expected more? I tried it last night for the first time with nothing applied over it. I woke up this morning expecting I don't know, something! I think since it felt all tingly on application i thought I'd wake up looking like Cindy Crawford Grin. Nope, still me!

Sallystyle · 07/05/2015 08:45

Yeah, I didn't look like Cindy Crawford either :(

Just me with the same skin as always.

Glycolic acid takes time. Unless it's too strong.

I felt my face was getting a bit tender last night. When I washed my face, a raw bit came up by my nostril so I skipped Retin A and just wore face oil to bed. This morning I used a Nip and Fab pad just before washing my face and just put a drop of oil on before sunscreen. My face is feeling pretty good now.

plumstone · 07/05/2015 10:02

Coconut and Edge - with you both on the LG - gotta say I was expecting more - but I don't know what (well to see my 21 year old skin staring back at me would have been good)!!! Will keep going every other night, as I hate wastage and don't have that much room to store stuff - but Bouncy Sleep Mask is getting way more thumbs up.

As a note to self and everyone else - don't feel there is any great urge to rub face madly with acid pads. have gone at my chin with the same enthusiasm that I would use sand paper Blush big plus, all the little black heads have gone, not so good is the redness that has appeared as a strong objection to the force of rubbing - Think the way forward is "sweep" over the face!!!

CindyEcstacy · 07/05/2015 10:15

What % is the LG?

I think when I looked at it it was fairly low so I ordered the bravura 20% gel instead

I've been using the LG for a few weeks & I have seen, or more accurately, felt a difference.
My skin is now really smooth, the pores seem much smaller and my face is incredibly soft.
It still looks blotchy sometimes but it feels so much better, and if I do decide to wear makeup it doesn't get caught in the flaky bits, because there aren't any flaky bits anymore.
I don't know whether LG is solely responsible. I changed my entire routine in one go, but I think the main stars are the LG and the Vichy serum, which is amazing stuff.

3 days in - neck looks much better ,mainly due to the Superdrug serum( which I love)
Face much smoother, all the pores around my nose( ? sebaceous filaments) and under nose spots have gone ,cheeks look really smooth and dewy.

Havent worn any make up this week, was a bit ouch at my reflection at first but going out today and only wearing the PUR 4 in 1 dusted over, blusher mascara and lip balmGrin
I have also bitten the bullet and cut out my coffee and Wine intake.
I can really see a difference, sleeping better and don't look so tired.

theladylovescupcakes · 07/05/2015 11:52

Thanks Bustle. Perhaps I don't moisturise enough. i'm heavy handed on my cheeks which are usually fine, and just use the dregs for my forehead. I've recently switched to the oil cleanser at night following the oil for oil advice.

I'm loving hearing stories of lovely looking skin emerging! Which products are worth a try?

MrsMillions · 07/05/2015 12:50

Grrr I posted earlier and the app lost it.

Have been lurking a few weeks and thank you all for the tips. I've started being stricter on am/pm routine, bought Clearasil pads, and am experimenting with some of the many samples I had no idea what to do with before.

A couple of questions before I go on holiday at the weekend (yippee!)...

I'll be at the beach by day, mascara at most, but frequent SPF top-ups. Then back to the apartment to change and get ready for dinner. How much of an extra routine should I do at this point to clean off sunscreen and prepare skin for make-up? Will still want normal am routine and then normal pm after dinner to remove make-up and prep for overnight recovery. Don't want to overdo it!

Secondly any recommendations to look out for at airport and/or onboard? Travel exclusives can be good value I find if they contain things you actually want to use. Limited choice though as Leeds/Faro airports and Jet2.
