It takes 6 weeks for your skin to turnover so longer than a week or so! If it's blackheady are you using a salicylic acid product?

You are right about examining it more closely -I thought my skin looked dreadful until I realised I was microanalysing it in the mirror every 10 minutes. Step back and look from the distance other people look - suddenly it looks loads better Grin

Glad there are good. I'm currently looking full on hormonal teenager, after a week of dry flaky skin. Not sure if it's still the Retin A or the new SPF.

It's two weeks to my holiday, I'll not be happy if I look plague-ridden in all the photos Smile

Hi! Been recommended here after asking for toner recommendations. I use no7 hot cloth cleanser and day/night cream. Thought I had to 'tone' but I hear that's old hat! I've got pretty good skin but want to keep it that way. I'm 29 and starting to get a few slight wrinkles around my eyes but hereditary mega dark circles since I was 15. I accept they're going nowhere so found a cracking concealer. Any recommendations would be great. Tia :-)

Kundry · 04/05/2015 13:49

Sounds like you are starting from a good base.

Toning wise you need an acid toner - AHA (glycolic/lactic) or BHA (salicylic) if no spots/blackheads, BHA (salicylic) if blackheads. Popular choices are Pixiglow, FAB Radiance pads, Nip and Fab pads, Clearasil fruit pads, Paula's Choice 2% BHA, Bravura Calendula toner, Clinique Mild Exfoliating Lotion, prob have missed some more out.

Preventing wrinkles wise the best thing you can do by far is use broad spectrum SPF in the day - every day including winter as UVA is just as strong even when cloudy and can penetrate through glass.

If you are then obsessed like we are, you would add a retinol. You can then get even more obsessed and add serums and spritz toners and other kinds of malarkey Grin But acid tone, retinol and SPF is the core of it.

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining you and asking for some advice!

My current skincare routine involves washing my make up off at night with a free seem wash. Then putting a free deem spot treatment on and a moisturiser.

Morning I cleanse my face (with whatever) and more spot treatment if needed and moisturiser again.
I'm 27, combination skin, and have the odd section of spots (usually clustered on temples or sides of chin.
I need budget products and need a good routine I can follow religiously!

Lj8893 · 04/05/2015 13:54

Freederm not free seem!!

Tanaqui · 04/05/2015 13:55

Well I tried my Una Brennan vitamin c capsule thingies last night; bit disappointed that I didn't notice they are full of silicone, as silicones in hair products give me back spots, so usually try to avoid. Still will try all week and see how it goes!

Gem124 · 04/05/2015 13:57

Absolutely clueless about AHA & BHA! What do they do? I have a Liz Earle serum... Which goes first moisturiser or serum? Different brands say different things!

Lj8893 · 04/05/2015 14:17

Anyone? I'm about to go shopping so would love an idea of what to buy!

Thanks lapomme. Will look for all that stuff, love a good poundshop bargain!
So I would cleanse, acid tone, serum then moisturise?
Would cleansing come after washing my face and removing my make up or instead of?
And do I do the same routine morning and night?

VeryStressedMum · 04/05/2015 14:49

Lj the cleanse is instead of what you're doing now with the freederm. Get a non foaming cleanser rub it in your face and wipe off with a flannel which has been under hot running water and wringed out. Then do it again. Then acid tone then serum then moisturise.

VeryStressedMum · 04/05/2015 14:51

And I do the same routine morning and night, except I single cleanse in morning or unless I'm using retin. I also use different acids and serums for morning and night but the routine is the same.

prettywhiteguitar · 04/05/2015 15:09

Thanks for the advice guys I will look into the suggestions

Lj8893 · 04/05/2015 15:22

Ok so DH got back from the UK last night with much anticipated Boots order.

I used the Nip&Fab glycolic pads last night and this morning - lovely, no stinging

ditto the Hylamide SubQ eye and face serums although instructions a bit vague, don't say how much so just put on the least amount needed to cover and included neck and decollete, hope that is OK

I have the LRP Redermic R for face and eyes - shall I use this evening or give it a few days?

thx

Can someone help tweak my routine please? I'm doing the same morning and evening except I double cleanse in the evening.

Cleanse with TDDO or Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Cleansing Gel
Clinique Mild Exfoliator (only added this a week ago)
Hylamide serum
Clinique moisture quenching moisturiser

My neck has a red dry patch on it, so I'm guessing that's the exfoliator. Should I continue?

Where I'd like to see improvement:
Getting rid of crepey throat
I'd like skin to look plumper
I have a bazillion crows feet
Evening out pigment

Itsalldramarama · 04/05/2015 17:12

I have the oz nAturals vit c and the retinol sat in my Amazon basket .... Waiting for someone to recommend..

prettywhiteguitar · 04/05/2015 17:17

Okay plan is to use (looked into laser and has mixed reviews about effects on pigmentation, as can make it worse and so I think a long term approach to keeping ageing away is needed)

I will cleanse with
Dermalogica face cleanser which has salicylic acid in it (already have this and really like it)
Then buy the clearasil acid toner

Buy the Oz vit c serum
Buy Olay regenerist moisturiser

Then buy the Novopeel mandelic acid and do a peel once a week.

Need to fit retin a in there somewhere ?

Kundry · 04/05/2015 17:17

SkodaLabia it looks great.

Personally I'm finding the Clinique Mild Exfoliator not enough but then I'm oily and spotty. You could just skip it on your neck if it's a problem. Still waiting to use up the Hydraluron to use my Hylamide but I liked it on initial try out.

For evening out pigment you need a Vit C serum as well - the best are Vit C and E and ferrulic. As bigbuttons points out this can be made or bought as cheap ripoffs and it's prob best to as it doesn't last long so if you buy an expensive one you'll end up throwing half away - see the Hot and Flashy Vit C video.

For everything else you are looking for you need to add a retinol. And make sure you are using SPF in the day!
