Sorry I meant the acid in the morning and retin A at night.

Not one acid am and pm.

I just cleanse and retin a at night.

plumstone · 03/05/2015 21:58

Hi Gerti, will be interested to hear how you get on, Vit e is lovely really nice after my Acid pads, and using it through the day to freshen up, decanted into small spray bottle for on the go portability! So far so good!

Fabulassie · 03/05/2015 22:06

TopEndChops I received all my Vitamin C serum ingredients yesterday and made some and it really stings! I think mine is only a 10% solution (but I added a bit of glycerine so it's maybe slightly less.) Stings like crazy, but then my face is already a bit sore because I went overboard with those Nip&Fab pads the other day.

For now, though, I am going to stick to Retin A at night, Vitamin C in the mornings, and wait until everything calms down to reintroduce a bit of Glycolic Acid in a limited way.

bigbuttons · 03/05/2015 22:21

Fresh c serum can sting a little, but not for long.

Fabulassie, I don't generally have sensitive skin (old boots springs to mind Grin), but I think i'll start off with the 5% for a week or so just to be on the safe side.

I have also ordered the Paulas Choice Resist sample pack to try a few things out before I splurge on something I might not be able to use.

This is fast becomng my new obsession

May have to get a bigger bathroom cabinet.

CoconutAmericano · 03/05/2015 22:56

I bought some rattan storage boxes in Aldi to accomodate my growing collection Blush

Greengardenpixie · 03/05/2015 23:14

The thing is, i dont use retinol on my face. What should i use? I dont moisturise at night as it causes break outs on my face. I just use total effects on my face during the day. What cream do you recommend at night for my rubbish neck that i can put on my face too?

Greengardenpixie · 03/05/2015 23:16

i have rarely been in the sun so it wont be that. My neck is down to my pregnancies, weight gain and weight loss annoyingly. I had my last baby at 43.

Thanks but fear that oil would be asking for trouble on my combination skin. I was hoping for something with retinol or some ingredient that could do something mostly to tackle my neck. Any more suggestions would be gratefully received!

almondcakes · 04/05/2015 00:03

Pixie, Olay professional deep wrinkle treatment has 4 stars on Beautypedia, has retinol in it, and you can buy it in Boots.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 04/05/2015 05:54

Astral or Nivea blue pot for necks.

Kundry · 04/05/2015 06:33

Both Astral and Nivea are oily. You may find your neck is OK with them though.

If you are adding a retinol your neck will need SPF.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 04/05/2015 08:42

Oh sorry, missed that the poster didn't want oil.

I still rave about Astral though. My neck is the most unlined bit of me, If only I hadn't spent ££££££££££££££s on stuff over the years and just slopped Astral everywere.

perhaps I could invert my face and neck and walk round with just my neck on show

I got that too Gerti! It seems less angry now.

prettywhiteguitar · 04/05/2015 09:28

Hi all I have been trying to follow the threads and invested in a novopeel 30% gycolic peel which I did two days ago, there is no sign if my skin changing although it says you peel on day three.

I only did two layers the first day and then yesterday did one layer. Both times my fave went flushed and calmed down. I followed the instructions.

Please tell me I will start peeling tomorrow despite there being no sign of anything !! I'm trying go to get rid of some hyperpigmentation and it's really getting me down. I can hide it well with make up but I'm 36 and I just know it's only going to get worse and really would like to get rid of it :(

Fabulassie · 04/05/2015 10:26

I don't think you really WANT to peel. You should continue to do it every other day or however long your face seems to tolerate it. And then you can increase it a bit. But this isn't supposed to be Footner for the face. The effects will come but they will be gradual. The hyperpigmentation can't just peel off in one easy go - it's deep in your skin. The skin has to be regenerated from below. Vitamin C and Retin A are good for producing collogen and speeding up the process by which skin is made and reaches the surface. Then Glycolic Acid speeds up the process by which DEAD skin cells are naturally sloughed off. You don't want to slough off anything deeper (or more alive) than that.

From a 30% peel (or anything you can buy as a non-professional) you should actually see peeling, as Fabulassie says. You should just get a gradual change - the pigmentation won't come off in one go.

For pigmentation you are going to need a combination of things anyway to see results over months - SPF to make absolutely sure it gets no worse, acid toning, possibly a weekly peel (mandelic acid is supposed to be better for pigmentation), a Vit C serum, a retinol or retin a, maybe a serum with kojic acid and arbutin etc. If you can afford it and it's really getting you down see a cosmetic dermatologist about laser or IPL.

You can reduce pigmentation but it takes aaages - if you look at the Hot and Flashy Vit C serum video on youtube you can see she has genuinely reduced hers so there is hope Smile

afink · 04/05/2015 11:02

I have been following the routine (but not using anything like Liquid Gold - just double cleansing with hot cloth cleaners, acid toner, treatment then moisturiser) for 3 weeks and I have been amazed at the change in my skin. It was terrible and is now like peaches and cream and soft as silk.

Twitchcoco · 04/05/2015 11:15

Brilliant afink that's fantastic!

Footner for the face??? Perish the thought! Grin
