I second Terry Wogan's penis. As it were.

rootypig · 10/02/2015 03:57

She's not wearing a g string backwards Confused
It's the seam on her leggings

And you know what, all cis women have labia. You can see the outline of men's penises and balls all the time through sports and other clothes, presumably in most cases unintentional. The bleurghing on this thread and picking a woman apart because she's wearing tight clothes is much more vomit inducing than anything about Carol Vorderman. Who let's face it, comes in for endless flak for not - what? - disappearing when she turned 45?

TheXxed · 10/02/2015 04:33

rootypig you lost me at cis. She is not a cis woman she is a woman.

rootypig · 10/02/2015 04:37

TheXxed I used cis in recognition that some people identify as women who don't have labia. If I lost you there, I couldn't really give a fuck.

TheXxed · 10/02/2015 04:44

I know why you used the term. I think it's nonsense, hope that helps.

rootypig · 10/02/2015 04:50

Grin at you trying to use "hope that helps" in a pseudo sarcastic way. The fact that I said I couldn't really give a fuck telegraphs what I think of your opinion, which I understood from the first. I do, however, give a fuck about transgender women, and the fact that you think transgender is "nonsense" is as much a semantic error as an ethical one, because I can assure you, transgender people do exist.

HTH.

TheXxed · 10/02/2015 04:59

rootypig I refuse to qualify my womanhood. Also don't you think it's a bit of a leap to assume I am transphobe because I take issue with the term cis. As it goes I am not.

This sums up my feelings on the topic glosswatch.com/2014/04/24/9-reasons-why-cis-isnt-working/

rootypig · 10/02/2015 05:22

Oh come on, get off your high horse, if you don't want people to make leaps, then don't post so dismissively. "You lost me at" - not exactly inviting open discussion. "I think it's nonsense" - no, that doesn't help. Transphobia in infinitely more widespread than rad fem rejections of gender, wouldn't you say?

Interesting article, though I don't think I agree. It's complex and I need some time to grasp the ideas.

No.

For the loan adverts.
For the attention seeking cackle.
For acting thick -when patently she isn't- on panel shows.
For the juicing/detox SHITE she peddles which people trust because she's "clever".

I can't fucking stand her.

CuttedUpPear · 10/02/2015 06:35

Get over yourselfrootypig.
My repeated post was accidental and I'm not ageist.
I'm over 45 and female, it would be bleurgh from me if CV was 25.

Her disingenuous attitude is what is annoying - I don't like the culture of selfies with women and girls posting photos of themselves in order to get compliments from their friends and the public.

It's very unhealthy, my DD does it and I can see the damage it does.

rootypig · 10/02/2015 08:21

Youll fair enough, dislike her for all those reasons and more. I can't say I've ever seen much of her, because I don't have a tv. I'm talking about the way she's talked about in the press - and here - which I find misogynist.

CuttedUpPear - I made no reference to the repetition of your post. And I don't think having an opinion that's different from yours means I should "get over myself" - why? nor am I reassured that you'd mete out the same reaction to a younger woman.

I don't get your reference to selfies, though I agree selfie culture is dreadful.

SuburbanRhonda · 10/02/2015 08:37

You can see Terry Wogan's penis through corduroy?

I have to admit to being repulsed and impressed in equal measure Grin

LineRunner · 10/02/2015 08:42

She did a series of TV adverts targeting older people, flogging what would be, for them, a piss poor value financial product.

Michael Parkinson did it, too.

Pure avarice or stupidity, possibly both, to take a fee for spouting the words they did.

It's relevant to what Vorderman did next, I think, in that she started to develop her persona into that of a 'television personality', and for example was instrumental in the descent of the chat show 'Loose Women' into Take A Break territory (ie dim, ill-informed, faux controversial).

She is a construct, moderately interesting in that she trades on a reputation of being quite clever in order to do ignominious things for money. Part of the construct she is carving out quite deliberately is most definitely predicated on her physical image, but I think her judgement is off, and therefore when she posts a photographs of herself in the public domain she possibly is buying into her own construct in a way that most of here aren't.

But then again, I know fuck all.

rootypig · 10/02/2015 08:46

That might all be true Line, but I don't think it's what's inspiring the group vomming over the idea she has vaginal lips.

Anyway I came back to post this for Rhonda Grin
Which is basically what I was talking about, that you can often see people's genitals in their clothes - big deal. And it might be cause for humour when it's men, sure, but only women's genitalia inspire this sort of disgust.

Is wearing your g string back to front a thing?
dexter73 · 10/02/2015 08:51

Tbh I think TW's penis is more disgusting than CV's fanny.

ListentotheMan · 10/02/2015 08:56

Sorry rooty but men's genitalia bursting out also causes me disgust!

Can't believe I ever wore a g string! Can't think of anything worse now. Shorts all the way!

rootypig · 10/02/2015 09:04

I enjoy a full brief! Though I maintain I don't think a backwards g string has anything to do with Miz V's dilemma.

Sure, when we all sit down and look at Terry's balls, none of us is enjoying it much. But I still think women's genitals are generally considered gross or disgusting, and women are made to feel ashamed of them, and the same isn't true for men.

Perhaps it's partly because large penises are prized.

MissMrsMummy · 10/02/2015 09:06

Agree rooty large penises are prized whereas large labia are not!

ListentotheMan · 10/02/2015 09:07

Maybe it's just because it's TW? Maybe we could have a photo of someone more delicious with bulge and then we can decide!

SuburbanRhonda · 10/02/2015 09:09

I don't feel disgust over CV's genitals. I think she's a twit to post such an unflattering photo of herself, but when has that ever stopped anyone?

TW's, though - thanks, rooty. I'm scarred for life Shock

SoupDragon · 10/02/2015 09:13
  1. as others have said, surely that's just the seam on the leggings rather than a back to front G String. Still unflattering though.

  2. WTF is "cis"?

SoupDragon · 10/02/2015 09:16

I still think women's genitals are generally considered gross or disgusting, and women are made to feel ashamed of them, and the same isn't true for men.

In part, this is because male genitals are there right at the front and prominent at all time. Kind of like a woman's breasts in that respect. Female genitalia are designed to be tucked away and generally not on show. It's far more difficult to "hide" a penis than labia.

rootypig · 10/02/2015 09:27

Sorry Rhonda, I foolishly googled out of curiosity and then felt everyone else should suffer as I have.

MissMrs Grin

Soup, cis

I agree the genital thing may be in part to do with the physical qualities. But it's not the whole story, is it? e.g. young girls and women are mocked for the smell of their genitals by boys and men (certainly me and all my friends were, there were endless jokes about the smell of boys' fingers after they'd, well, "fingered" a girl - it's all so depressing to think back on), women's public hair is less acceptable than men's. Jokes about how revolting vulvas look (I remember, again as a teen, references to a badly packed kebab - just so fucking grim)

Greengardenpixie · 10/02/2015 09:31

Really????? Mens genitals are ugly!!!!!
Agree about the mocking. I remember hearing boys at the time saying things like that.
