To give me some ideas. Hopefully not too expensive.

I'm very much a jeans and t.shirt girl but want to put the boat out as there's going to be a lot of very eligible men there - and quite a few 'shlebs too..

can't find any links right now but for that time of year i'd go fo rsomething a bit different.

maybe wide leg flowing trousers with a fitted wrap cashmere (if you can stretch to it) top.

lovely necklace and hat.

caffeinequeen · 20/10/2006 17:57

Shlebs?! Who who? Spill please

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 20/10/2006 18:00

Can you give us more idea of your shape/size, plus best bits, and colours you like?

corrina28 · 20/10/2006 18:01

there is a place on ebay that makes corsets to your size for a mere £20

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 20/10/2006 18:06

I suspect that a dress is likely to give you the greatest value for money, but love Tutter's idea - and love this top too. Would need to find trousers or skirt to go with it - do yo like either of the ones they suggest if you scroll down?

Monkeytrousers · 20/10/2006 18:15

this is me

best bits - hair
worst bits, ankles, nose

size 14 but aiming to be a 12 then

Recommendations from catalogues would be good!

Monkeytrousers · 20/10/2006 19:48

Just bought this off ebay what do you think? with brown boots and shawl, creame hat maybe?

and it's a size 10!!

Oh well, got some work to do..

Monkeytrousers · 20/10/2006 19:51

hatwoman · 20/10/2006 19:56

It's fab mt. don't do hat though - I went to a wedding recently (a pretty posh one) and no-one under 50 was wearing a hat.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 20/10/2006 19:57

Yes - was going to suggest a fascinator instead of a hat. Lovely dress, btw.

MegaLegs · 20/10/2006 19:59

I am of your lovely hair!

hatwoman · 20/10/2006 20:00

also - I'm not sure about boots. I think shoes always look smarter and more weddin-like. even in january. You could go for a fur wrap to keep it wintery

Monkeytrousers · 20/10/2006 20:08

I'm thinking now that I will knit a 'shrug'?

Oh it's going to be fun shopping for accessories! Will have a look in erm..Accessorise for that fur wrap. That's Monsoon isn't it? It won't be real fur though will it?

And I?m going to wear earrings and everything!! Can?t wait!

But I have horrid thick ankles Hatwoman. All my joints are less than delicate, wrists, neck etc.

Monkeytrousers · 20/10/2006 20:10

No doubt I would be of your Megalegs, ML

cod speaks true - coloured coat v good with boots for draughty churches. Boden, Coast, Laura Ashley etc generally have poncey print or sequinned ones but Topshop and good old Dorothy Perkins have neat fitted wool coats in some fantastic colours this season - scarlet, teal, lime, purple. Add one of brooch / corsage / hat / fascinator.
Then for overheated hotel reception shed coat to reveal glam dress or flowing-trouser outfit as below; and swap boots for heels and corsage/fascinator for a bit of bling.

Get hair done beforehand if possible - makes all the difference.

Monkeytrousers · 21/10/2006 00:06

What's with this 'fascinator' - kids aren't allowed!

OP posts:
Monkeytrousers · 21/10/2006 10:08

Oh, I dreamt of that coat last night - that I was wearing it and Daniel Craig was eyeing me up.

Check out Great Plains

www.greatplains.co.uk

Think there stuff is good and not as pricey as FC. Anyway MT you are pretty stunning (honest not providing positive strokes here) so think you'll look good in the proverbial bin bag.

like this

BossofTheDaVinciCod · 21/10/2006 10:34

gett he coat in sales ime

Monkeytrousers · 21/10/2006 10:37

Cod, what about this as a cheaper compromise - not sure if it's a bit too red though?
