To give me some ideas. Hopefully not too expensive.

I'm very much a jeans and t.shirt girl but want to put the boat out as there's going to be a lot of very eligible men there - and quite a few 'shlebs too..

spot on MT!

I like that cream coat too Tutter - I think better over cream dress than tweedy one? cod?

Monkeytrousers · 24/10/2006 15:06

serioulsy, what do you think of this??

OP posts:
Monkeytrousers · 24/10/2006 15:09

and these?!

OP posts:
Monkeytrousers · 24/10/2006 15:17

Not sure about the cream coat - don't want people to think I'm competeing with the bride..

hate to be a killjoy but the coat could be monstrously unflattering - the channels in the fur run horizontally rather than vertically giving 'michelin man' impression.

Like the gloves but not sold on the bag - I have trouble carrying ones that shape in an elegant manner (though of course you may not be so inept)

Love the idea of wool coat with fur accesories - am coming round to the tweedy one

Monkeytrousers · 24/10/2006 15:34

Me too, think I'm going to get it..

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 24/10/2006 15:41

not worth waiting till the sales?

Monkeytrousers · 24/10/2006 15:43

I can never find anything in the sales. I'm a crap forager.

ok, enough already with the fur, you don't want to be baited at the reception

i wore a long cream jacket-coat thing to a friend's wedding and it was fine. all cream/white dress or suit would be suspect, but a coat is OK imo.

and would give a good contrast with dark brown accessories. brown hat, coat, bag and gloves a bit too same-y imo.

Monkeytrousers · 24/10/2006 16:58

um, I just got home and the dress was here..it's very flimsy - really don't think it will be appropriate for a January.

Bum!

oh dear

so - let's recap - what do you have (or what have you bidded on) already?

Tutter · 24/10/2006 17:06

this could be fab and would go with colours of boots and accessories???

Tutter · 24/10/2006 17:09

or this looks good

Tutter · 24/10/2006 17:11

ok will stop now til you report back on revised plans but this is used designer and would be great for a winter wedding

Tutter · 24/10/2006 17:11

(if i do say so myself they are 3 pretty damned good dresses for a quick ebay search)

norkmaiden · 24/10/2006 17:14

reckon you should get the velvet jacket I linked to
would have it myself but i don't think it would fit. Over a slinky dress or suchlike.

norkmaiden · 24/10/2006 17:15

not sure about the first one tutter - scary bow??

Tutter · 24/10/2006 17:16

i know what you mean norky but could look great i reckon - depends if you're (or mt is) the sort of person who could pull it off

norkmaiden · 24/10/2006 17:22

agree if you could pull it off it would look stunning. NOt sure I could though - not forgiving enough shape. Tis v unusual.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump · 24/10/2006 17:36

Just saw this red velvet jacket searching for something on another thread - think it's beautiful.
