Still going strong as we head into 2015. Not a chance I can beat the vol 50 intro from the lovely Dry so I won't even try. Lots of newbies have joined the fun, why don't you? Come tell us your sales splurges. All welcome for fun fashion chat.

Morning all. Yes Shop I totally agree about the feeling overwhelmed with 'stuff' and endless promo emails .Wonder if anyone heard Woman's Hour on Monday - all about de-cluttering (am becoming obsessed after years of hoarding). I think addressing all that online stuff is also a key part of de-cluttering; need to do it. I do subscribe to DMBL40 which I still like, but often skim through as we are quite differing body shapes so the stuff she goes for often isn't right for me. Find using blogs much better than fashion mags as you can get a more tailored edit somehow.

DCs not back to school until tomorrow (gaaaaah!) so digging deep for another day. Not a great thing to say (bad mother klaxon), but in reality have so much to DO….!

Stokey · 07/01/2015 12:12

I know exactly what you mean Shop. DH recommended this app called Keep which is like a notebook on your phone that you can share. I have a daily one and a house and kids one which help me keep on top of things.

Massive empathy for all the losses, I get through loads of hats, scarf's and gloves so never buy expensive ones now.

I've just been into Cos Amber and the cashmere beanies are 30% off if you need a new one Grin

I use Bloglovin too, have been thinking about starting a blog while I'm at home but not sure there's much need for any more.

QueenCardigan · 07/01/2015 12:18

I unsubscribe to loads of emails ages ago as they totally clutter up the inbox. I'm pretty much just subscribed to gap now for the 30% off offers and a discount code one that emails me with discount codes every couple of days but is easy just to delete rather than read it. shop if you feel overwhelmed then definitely unsubscribe-it's not good for the soul to be bombarded with emails constantly. I do think stepping away from the iPad every so often is good for the soul too, even if it's just for a week. As you know I've taken a couple of breaks from you all and it's actually easier than just missing a day. I get overwhelmed by the amount of chat you can miss in a few hours but if you have a proper break then you just start over again.

This year I'm going to try and get the house in order which is one of the reasons we got a cleaner again to free up some of my time. I want to put my time and energy into that rather than clothes as I have a wardrobe that I'm very happy with. That's not to say that I'm never buying again but apart from my Sunday mornings when I indulge myself in the new in sections of websites I'm trying to cut down on looking at clothes. I find pin the hardest to give up as its so easy to just look at quickly whilst cooking the kids tea etc especially now I have it on my phone.

Anyway enough rambling. I've just booked my tickets for March 14 meet up Smile. Arriving at 10.30 in time for shopping and leaving at 8.15.

shopafrolic · 07/01/2015 13:35

Thanks all - Fedup as a result of what you said I detached myself from a particularly soul destroying online group.
QueenC I have also deleted a couple of apps from my phone for the v reason that they were taking up too much time (particularly last thing at night for me)
Stokey off to check out the app

I subscribe to very little, only a few things that I really enjoy and really get something out of. I cut out what became toxic fb groups and stuff because they just made me feel awful. I was in one such group about the disease I've got and there was a man in it who kept sending me personal messages and writing public messages on the group board for me demanding I sign his petition about there actually being a cure for the disease and that we were being denied it by the government. He became very very nasty when I refused to listen to him and told him there is no cure so I removed myself from the group so I didn't have to put up with him.

shopafrolic · 07/01/2015 13:54

Oh and just in case it helps anyone else - I called Ocado about the price increase on my SmartPass - they have amended it back to £6.99 a month and given me 3 months free. Good stuff Ocado. :)

very good of them shop it's true that you never get anything if you don't ask, isn't it

I'm so cold today, 'real feel' temp according to my phone is 1 degree so no wonder. Have turned up the heating a little and am snuggling in my blanket

shopafrolic · 07/01/2015 14:25

Looks like Keep is an Android app not iPhone

OP posts:
Stokey · 07/01/2015 14:43

Oh yes sorry Shop it is. We're all Android here, Dh is techy so a bit anti-Apple.

It is cold today One. I have just bought a heatech polo fleece for a bargain £4.90, specifically to keep me warm in the house. I also got a black poloneck jumper that i suspect makes me look like Marcel Marceau but it a decent wool-alpaca mix and was supercheap too. I think I need some flares or a maxi skirt now to go with it!

libertychick · 07/01/2015 14:44

Hugs for you shop. It is horrible feeling overwhelmed. MN and pin are my only social media things. I have lost interest in blogs and CBA with Facebook and twitter. Check out Headspace. It's a meditation app. You get a ten day starter of daily ten minute mediations and then decide whether to sign up or not. I have found it amazing. I don't manage to meditate every day but even just doing 4 or 5 times a week has made a huge difference to how I feel. I now just automatically start taking deep breaths and consciously let go of thoughts when I find myself feeling overwhelmed or catch myself sinking into negative thought spirals. It has also had an impact my ability to concentrate or focus on work or study and I notice I am becoming more productive.

libertychick · 07/01/2015 14:46

Also consider delinking your emails from your phone. I have to keep work email switched on but I only check my personal email once a day ( sometimes less) and then I just delete most of them without reading.

MarshaBrady · 07/01/2015 14:53

I only do pin, here and a small FB private group.

I cba with twitter, instagram or any other and I'm fine with that. I nearly did, but then thought why document stuff and stopped.

OneLittleLady · 07/01/2015 14:54

watch has arrived and it's LOVE. so pleased with it Grin Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 07/01/2015 15:26

Yay One! Are you going to wait for your birthday to wear it? Wink

That app sounds good lib, I have been thinking about trying something like meditation for a while. I don't have a problem with social media or emails, but I find it very hard to switch off. I'm a weird-introvert-thinker type and I lie in bed for up to an hour every night before I can sleep, with my brain just buzzing away with random stuff.

I do find it hard to get off the internet and that's why I am handwriting my novel, need to keep it separate from the computer or I'd procrastinate like crazy.

Not on instagram or twitter either, it does make me feel old sometimes (!) but I feel like I could be doing more worthwhile stuff (personally).

OneLittleLady · 07/01/2015 15:31

wearing it right now blair it's my treat to me so I think I can wear it now Wink

Must start packing for my weekend away, I get the train tomorrow but I'm sat here procrastinating. Think I'm going to take my two new chiffon tartan loose fit shirts, they were A POUND EACH in Primark this morning!! the sales tags on them said £5 each but when I got to the till, they came up as just a pound. Grin bought them deliberately baggy to wear with skinnies and my denim mini skirts

Drywhiteplease · 07/01/2015 15:37

My father shocked me by referring to " fuckbook" and "twatter" Shock Grin DM was v much out of earshot summed it up brilliantly. I'm on here and FB, not techy enough to do other stuff!
Back later for more comments. Teenage taxi duties call.....
Karbea your dogs go to school? .... Hope it's an outstanding one!

libertychick · 07/01/2015 16:12

Glad you love the watch one.

Blair definitely try the headspace thing. It encourages you to start noticing the thought process and learn not to judge it but just to let thoughts and feelings come and go without getting too caught up with it all. I've only been doing it for a couple of months but it's working for me already.

OneLittleLady · 07/01/2015 16:44

got my marks back for the assignment i handed in the other day. that mark combined with my first exam mark means I've passed my first module!! Really really please Grin Grin Grin Grin

OneLittleLady · 07/01/2015 16:44

pleased not please! Way too excited to type properly haha

shopafrolic · 07/01/2015 16:45

I did the free trial of Headspace but then got really stressed when I couldn't make the time to do it Hmm

Well done One!

When's the best time to meditate, do people find? I would love to do it first thing in the morning but that would mean going to bed earlier... another thing on my to do list!

libertychick · 07/01/2015 17:11

Shop I often miss 2 or even 3 days in a row, just pick up where you left off, it works even if you don't do it every day.

Blair if I am working from home I do it just before I start working. Other days it can be hard to fit in but I do it whenever I can, sometimes just before going to bed. On very stressed days I have sometimes done it twice!

My DH has really noticed the difference in makes for me so now he actively enables by saying 'do you need 15 mins to go do your mediating thing?' at points where previously he might have said 'can you stop being such a bitch?' Grin

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 07/01/2015 17:25
Grin

I do have a relaxation tape thing which, if I listen to it before I go to sleep, really helps me sleep better. I should do it every night really.

MarshaBrady · 07/01/2015 17:40

lol Liberty. I'm impressed that your dh saying that doesn't make you feel more stressed Grin. Dh only has to say are you going for your run now and it makes me feel tense and annoyed. Yes! I'm going, I'm in the zone , quiet.
