Trice? Trifle

That? Than

bigTillyMint · 08/11/2014 17:35

Yes, Cremo, where are you? Hope you are not laid up and suffering.

It's lashing it down here - not sure how my friend's going to do the fireworks, but I'm sure we can manage inside with the eleventy million sparklers I've boughtSmile

bigTillyMint · 08/11/2014 17:36

Like the top Rose! I'm not a charity-shop goer either. But half my clothes look like they should be in one!

Cab booked (boy that was pricey - could get round half of South India for that!)

bigTillyMint · 08/11/2014 18:00

How much, MI? And how excitingSmile

Rosebag · 08/11/2014 18:04

Oh dear tilly they don't think much of us....

CointreauVersial · 08/11/2014 18:21

Well, DH, DS and I stood on the doorstep, all togged up in waterproofs and gloves, looked out at the torrential rain, looked at each other.......and said "nahh". Sod the fireworks, it's too bloody miserable out there. We have retired to the sofa and will be ordering a takeaway and watching X Factor. The only member of the family unhappy with this decision was DD2, the person who didn't want to go in the first place. Angry

what thread BTM?

QueenQueenie · 08/11/2014 18:21

Pssst! We're being talked about.... here

Blackduck · 08/11/2014 18:32

Found it! I suppose it is a bit odd now! Very little S&B! Suparssed ourselves in the last few pages with coats, dresses and ponchos :)

cremolafoam · 08/11/2014 18:53

I'm here girls. Just had a bastard of a week: nothing sinister , but SO tired and fighting a wretched cold as well as working silly hours in a very very busy office.
Hi to all! MI have a good trip lovely!
I'll have more time next week, I hope.
Xx

Auriga · 08/11/2014 19:17

Aaaargh.

There is no-one who can piss on an achievement like my mother. Especially an achievement of mine, tbh.

Even more annoyingly, what she said was entirely predictable and I still didn't predict it. You'd think I'd have had plenty of practice by now but no, I can still be blindsided.

Same for DD. At the dinner table yesterday I pointedly reminded DM about her success in the competition. DM looked blankly at me and said 'I know, you told me that yesterday'. Not a word to DD, who was sitting right beside her, till I said 'aren't you going to congratulate her?'

May need to take the poor dog out in the rain for another emergency walk... Angry

QueenQueenie · 08/11/2014 19:23

Bloody Hell Auriga. You have the patience of a saint you know. I thought my dm was officially the worst but am open to being proved wrong! When ds1 got an A for the one GCSE he took a year early and I told her how well he'd done she asked him if an A was good Angry

hattymattie · 08/11/2014 19:43

Ha - expat women living in FranceWink. That'll be me then. This evening I have a sent DH to a party by himself as it's his best mate who got divorced and is now with blonde woman whom I'm not keen on and I'm so fed up of having to go along to these things. I reckon at 50 I know my own mind and don't have to put up with people's shit anymore (long back story) I have dropped DD2 at her friends. At 11.30 I pick her up and have told DH I will be picking him up at 11.45Grin .

Meanwhile I am curling up with DS and Dr Who, Strictly and M&M's.

hattymattie · 08/11/2014 19:46

Auriga I hate it when people cannot be bothered to congratulate the child. QQ how can one surpass an A*?

QueenQueenie · 08/11/2014 19:59

She was pretending not to know that it was the best grade Hmm. She is truly a miserable old bag woman.

I think I'm lucky to have my DM. She's quite nice, and even seems to like her grandchildren.

Lucky indeed CV! And glam to boot!

Blackduck · 08/11/2014 20:48

Auriga :(
It's so crap how those closest to us can take the shine off things. Why do we give them that much power?

You are fab you know. You are ALL fab you know..

Blackduck · 08/11/2014 20:50

To continue. I love the crepeys - we are a fabulous, creative, beautiful, caring, amazing bunch of women (assuming Hatty and NFU aren't hairy handed truckers... :) ).
Let's celebrate :)

Auriga · 08/11/2014 21:23

DM's not simply reserved with praise, Rudy. It's not enough for her to ignore good things. She has to spoil them. Although she has raved endlessly about my fucking chocolate cake (because that's the kind of thing she thinks I should really be spending time on).

Still, it's kind of you to put a charitable spin on it. I need to unclench & try to do the same. She'll never change now. And QQ, yes, that's exactly the sort of thing my DM would say, if she said anything about exam results.

DD doesn't take it to heart, though, because what DM says isn't important to her. Another thing I forget too easily. She's not like me.

Blackduck · 08/11/2014 21:26

So we learn the lesson and not be like them...

And I say it again WE are WONDERFUL ??
