Here we are again.....

OP posts:
Stropperella · 15/11/2014 18:46

Herbs, I'm only dropping in to say "I feel your pain" and if it's any consolation at all, I'll be working all weekend too for the same reason. Plus I have some paid work for my version of MI's CDiff which has to be delivered next Thursday and there are not enough bloody hours in the day.
Can only say "yes oh yes" about the weirdness of group dynamics re: course participants and tutors and I'm afraid I am getting bolshier and bolshier as the weeks go by. There are also some astonishing snobs who have, er, mixed feelings about having to set foot in state schools. I must make sure to keep my big old gob shut at the right moments. Which is probably most of the time, in fact. I have also bolshied about at a public meeting in my neighbourhood this week. I am turning into a properly grumpy old bag

Stropperella · 15/11/2014 18:48

Deer are not actually that cute. They are entirely capable of goring you with their nasty big pointy antlers when they are pissed off. I am very partial to venison sausages. Grin

bigTillyMint · 15/11/2014 19:09

DS has broken the sofa. Well, it was a bit broken before, but now it is proper broken. A piece of wood going across the middle of the frame. I am crossing everything that someone can come and fix it!

We have just polished off an M&S meal for 2 - can't believe you get all that plus a bottle of wine for £10Smile

Stropps, don't keep yer gob shut - we want to hear all about itGrin

cremolafoam · 15/11/2014 20:28

Soothing vibes to Herbs and Stropps.
{{{{{}}}}}}} I'm so sorry you've both hit that bit where it's SO hard to keep going. I remember my sisters first year doing Midwifery and she had anticipated that it was going to be tough, what with small kids to juggle with the course. However it was the relentlessness of the work that nearly broke her, and she was completely and utterly frustrated with her younger course mates who seemed to sail through without much effort and doing the minimum of work, while maintaining hectic social lives etc. However she's in 3rd year now and loving it. You willget there lovely Herbs and lovely Stropps.

I am plonked in front of Strictly with a homemade pizza. Dh and I are making a Christmas list. Meh!
I am also trying to make peace with dmum and ddad who are being v v difficult. Very long story: I'll maybe talk about my alleged misdemeanours in another post. It's all a bit grim.Sad

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/11/2014 20:48

Nice trews Molly.

Phoned my mother the other day and asked her if she wanted to come to us for Christmas. Got a long lecture about how she would rather stay at home, and our house isn't as Christmassy as hers (we have flashing Eiffel Towers, FFS, what does she want, Santa's Grotto?). Fantastic, I thought. Got a phone call next day to say that she would come after all, and could she get a train back Boxing Day. Sadly, there are no trains on Boxing Day. Sad The DDs are not impressed, as they will have to share a room. DD2 says she doesn't want Nagging Nanna to come, as she always criticises everything she does, from the way she dresses to her drawing and handwriting.

Everyone here has been shouty all day. I went shopping and bought a new parka and some wrapping paper, plus pants, tights and "fairy hammocks" for the DDs. They were still shouty when I got back and it has got no better.

cremolafoam · 15/11/2014 21:04

Aren't we just Rockin Saturday night Crepeys. < shifts along broken sofa to make room for Mrs S>
Pass the gin

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/11/2014 21:11

We are the last of the Party Animals, Crem.

QueenQueenie · 15/11/2014 21:20

Don't worry you two... you are not alone

QueenQueenie · 15/11/2014 21:21
  • and the way we SAY it even...
MrsSchadenfreude · 15/11/2014 21:25

DH is watching a DVD on something about feminism from the 1970s. Most of it seems to be filmed in the kitchen and the soundtrack is whale music.

Living the high life here.

MollyAir · 15/11/2014 21:38

Crem, sorry to hear about conflict with parents as well as everything else. Sad. Hope it all gets better very soon.

Commiserations to everyone on difficult courses and, probably worse still, in difficult jobs. Just buy tartan. It does you the world of good, and you may find yourself singing "500 miles" and "You cannae push ya grannie off the bus" etc.

cremolafoam · 15/11/2014 22:12

Molly dd has started to speak exactly like that since moving to GU. Ha!

The thing with parents involves Dad driving yes, DRIVING, less than 2 weeks after heart surgery , having had one cataract removed with an old script in his glasses, without informing the DVLA or insurance broker, and dmum thinking I was being silly , saying I was horrified. ( FURIOUS AND AGHAST actually) and offering help to sort it out, make an appointment, get him assessed .

Now it's my fault Dad's upset and can't drive.Sad (I am an interfering bitch cow apparently )

At the very least he's not able to kill someone or himself on the roads .

And breathe.

cremolafoam · 15/11/2014 22:15

Ooh new thread ALERT!!!!BiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuit

QueenQueenie · 15/11/2014 22:29

Ooooh, any new thread title suggestions while we all sit on the sofa?

I'm watching a programme on ch4 +1 on tv in the '70s. It is jaw droppingly shocking - the sexism / racism etc on mainstream 'family' entertainment. Even ds2 is shocked. Benny Hill anyone? Beauty contests? Cue Terry Wogan eyeing a bikini clad teenager up and down- 'How old are you?' "16' 'Oooh you're a big girl for 16 aren't you...' Shock Hmm Angry and repeat...

QueenQueenie · 15/11/2014 22:36

Crepeys Creep Crepily Towards Christmas?
Jingle Crepes, Jingle Crepes, Jingle All The Way
It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Crepemas
Hark The Herald Crepeys Sing
'Twas The Night Before Crepemas
The Holly And The Crepey...

QueenQueenie · 15/11/2014 22:38

This thread has taken us about 3 weeks to fill up... so new thread unlikely to see us all the way to the big day... does that matter?

lalsy · 15/11/2014 22:42

Shove up you lot, mine's a gin martini.

Crem, I really get this [taps nose]. Bloody awful, I am so sorry Flowers.

Stropps and Herbs, it sounds really daunting. Do share awful group dynamics if it helps.

MrsSchadenfreude · 15/11/2014 22:55

All I want for Crepemas is two bottles of gin?

I saw the Crepeys kissing Santa Claus (sounds like a potential gang bang, or frenzied menopausal women taking advantage of an elderly gentleman). Grin

Santa Crepey

Gaudete, Gaudete, Crepus est natus.

CointreauVersial · 15/11/2014 23:14

Have just had a great catch up with a friend of mine who only popped by to drop her DS off for a sleepover with my DS, but was lured in with the promise of a glass of Wine. Three hours later......Grin She's all aflutter, having been contacted recently via FB by her first BF from nearly 30 years ago, and there has been much "rekindling". Neither has any ties, so why not? It's all very exciting!

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 15/11/2014 23:17

Oh, and I don't think we should be too festive with the next thread title. A bit like filling the shops with tinsel in August IT'S NOT CHRISTMAS JUST YET!

OP posts:
QueenQueenie · 15/11/2014 23:29

Hi CV, you do realise you've shoved Crem off onto the floor don't you?

So, maybe 'Crepeys Say Bah Humbug'?

MollyAir · 15/11/2014 23:40

Ooh, yes, do share awful group dynamics, in solidarity. It was so cathartic for me.

NUFC69 · 16/11/2014 07:26

Lying in bed creaking after wandering around Beamish with DS, his family and iILs, looking for Santa who arrived yesterday on his reindeer. DH and I didn't move off the settee all evening: the Aldi red wine was very smooth.

Crem, sorry to hear about your problems with DF. Would it help if you told DPs that they would likely not have been covered by insurance. I know when I have had operations I have been told not to drive for six weeks. I appreciate this doesn't cover the eye issues, but it might be the way to go.

I hope the Crepey students have a better time of it this coming week. The youngsters don't realise they're born being able to study without any other responsibilities like running a home and family.

I have had an email saying that the beds are ready for delivery (2 weeks early), so am getting ready for an invasion of GC who want a sleepover. I hope your sofa can be mended, BTM.

bigTillyMint · 16/11/2014 07:47

QQ, I was on the broken sofa watching that programme too (but couldn't MN as DS was lolloping all over me) - it was truly shocking, even he recognised that! Terry Wogan - who'd have thought it?Wink

Cremo, you did the right thing re your DDad, tough though it is for them. They need to sell their car and embrace cabs now. Will we be so intransigent in our dotage?

Blackduck · 16/11/2014 09:20

Hi all - took ds to see Mr Turner - he lowered the average age of the audience considerably. However he couldn't handle the (tame) sex scenes so I had to take him out (and drink wine) whilst dp watched the last hour......

Please not christmas in the title - I'm wth CV let's wait for the thread after that (and as QQ said we will need at least one more before the big day)
I did, however, buy three Christmas presents yesterday so have official started....
