Amazing shoes Sleep so very you

MarshaBrady · 21/10/2014 11:57

Hello, I am in usual pre-meeting mode, getting stuff done. I need to catch up with all the posts.

Blair I checked out Chloe, really liked a skirt but am trying not to spend atm. Amazingly!

MarshaBrady · 21/10/2014 11:58

Welcome back Momin and wave to Betty.

Ok am going in...

MarshaBrady · 21/10/2014 12:02

To the thread that is, not the meeting Grin

libertychick · 21/10/2014 14:36

Just had a very satisfying browse around TK Maxx - the one I went to had a section called - Modern Contemporary which had Kooples, Zadig, Helmut Lang, Vince, Acne jeans, Joseph, Malene Birger etc. Tried on lots but nothing was quite right for me. Also had some great coats including a fantastic Vera Wang coat which isn't on the website - only available in large unfortunately so I had to leave it there.

In the end I bought this dress but in purple not red and an All Saints dark navy (ink) cable knit scarf - oh and more Christmas cards!!

I like sending and receiving cards - I think because both me and DH are not around our families at Christmas getting lots of cards makes me feel more connected to them all. I don't send them to friends I see every day, just old friends from home and relations. I get stressed because I do try to make them personal and write a proper note and every year I leave it late which makes that difficult. The plan this year is to write 4/5 a week for the next few weeks. Dry I hate them scattered all over the place too!! Most years I hang them on string but this year I am going to do this with them

libertychick · 21/10/2014 14:37

DH and I

libertychick · 21/10/2014 14:39

And I also thought round robin letters were ridiculous until I started getting them from my MIL - she does fantastic ones!!! She has a slightly bitchy, tongue in cheek sense of humour and the family news round up she does always has me in stitches.

libertychick · 21/10/2014 14:44

Great shoes Lou. Thanks again for the chat the other week - really helped me focus on the mission to reduce my stress Smile.

santamarianovella · 21/10/2014 15:34

Love the shoes ,sleep ,your weekend sounds amazing, I haven't been to bologna in years, the

Its nice to receive cards, specially if you are living away from family, I pinned lib Christmas card tree idea, love it,

Had a look at Chloe stuff, and I loved the navy blouse but think will pass, still £££ for a previous season item, I might be going to London in a couple of weeks, so will probably save up for shopping at Selfridges or matches.

shopafrolic · 21/10/2014 16:01

Quick wave to all as SIL and my nieces have arrived so I don't have time to check back. Just wanted to say thanks to Lib and Dry for my lovely little parcels that arrived today. V exciting.
Dry the lipsticks look good - it took me ages to figure out how to open them Blush Grin Will have a play later.
Sleep love those shoes.
Waves to all.

shopafrolic · 21/10/2014 16:01

Sorry - way too many waves in that last post Grin

santamarianovella · 21/10/2014 17:01

This is worth linking, it seems, all along I've been part of a cult without even knowing it, I'm a philophiles Wink , dry please don't kill it for me by linking the name to a culinary dish , so basically anyone who favours clean minimal understated lines, is a philophiles,

marsha is philophiles too, who else is?

always thought the phoebe effect has grown to an extent that its now more a lifestyle thing and and not just fashion , just didnt know that it had a name,

But please ignore the sick inducing video,

OneLittleLady · 21/10/2014 18:01

I am so so cold! Had to go out to collect prescriptions etc and my god was it cold. I was shivering at the bus stop. The next two mornings will be awful, up at six am to go to lectures on a campus that is always cold, lovely Hmm

Picked up a BNWT Hobbs dress today for£1 Grin

Fedupnagging · 21/10/2014 18:01

Looks like I missed some good posts last night - too much to comment on all of it though.

Glad the talk went well Novice - loved Dry's version.

Queen I'd like to wear a hat please. Smile I suit cloche or wide brimmed like this. I look ridiculous in a fascinator and hats like
this

Sleep love those sparkly shoes and Lib lovely purple/red dress.

Hi to Mom - have you named changed?

Fedupnagging · 21/10/2014 18:05

Oh and loving all the make up swaps too. Queen did you like the pink lipstick? It is rather bright but good for evening.

Karbea · 21/10/2014 18:12

fedup I love the first hat.

AmberNectarine · 21/10/2014 18:22

I'm emphatically not a Philophile - I love a bright pattern!

OneLittleLady · 21/10/2014 18:54

I stand with Amber that look just wouldn't work for me, it's too masculine which is something i don't suit at all

AmberNectarine · 21/10/2014 19:52

That being said, I am wearing a black turtleneck and trainers today so maybe I have been silently infected with Philomania.

libertychick · 21/10/2014 20:38

I aspire to being a Philophile but I can't quite carry it off.

MarshaBrady · 21/10/2014 20:53

I love lots of it, the bags of course, but I'm a bit too unkempt for real minimalism. I do think she's an excellent designer.

BrandyAlexander · 21/10/2014 21:28

Hello everyone! Sleep those shoes are divine. I have been looking for something like that but with a mid heel, maybe an inch less at 3inches. I bought a sparkly gold pair a couple of weeks ago from RB but that was more for dressing up jeans. Just love yours! Hope you had a good weekend away!Envy

I think adrenalin was holding me together yesterday because since this morning the coughing has been grim. I feel tired from the coughing and I am travelling shortly.Sad (Sorry Sleep, I have about 3 more weeks before I am not juggling a gazillion things).

maradesbois · 21/10/2014 21:39

Evening Voguettes,

Sleep those are proper party shoes! Fabulous. Thanks for your pm, have replied. Am in the process of applying to a few schools and going to visit another one at the end of this week. You're right about it being crazy though, for most of them need to pay a fee and complete the application before being allowed to visit. I know they are oversubscribed but you would think visiting first would make more sense Confused.

QueenC I'll have a hat please Smile. Have a big head (or maybe just lots of hair) but love them nonetheless. Love the skirt that blair linked for you btw.

Liberty love your dress. Was it a London tk maxx? Am going to have a look in the Kensington one this weekend if I have time.

Picked up my marant silk top today. Haven't decided yet whether to keep, part of me loves it but not sure about the frill on the collar.

Santa great link about Philophiles, think that on the whole I am fairly minimalist but not really in a philoesque way. Have always steered well clear of pattern in the past but am getting more and more into dvf which is all about the prints.

MarshaBrady · 21/10/2014 21:41

Sleep those shoes are amazing!

Novice love yours too.

Liberty what a fabulous dress.

Fedup great hat.

I can only do pale big sun hats too.

santamarianovella · 21/10/2014 21:55

I admire pheobe's approach to dressing, it is not masculine fashion, its more about paying attention to tailoring, shapes and how clothes are cut ,there are prints, lots of graphic prints, even floral prints in her SS15 collection, and usually her printed pieces are always the most creative ones, but its the cut of the clothes that give these prints dimension,

mara London schooling is a land mine, seriously! There is no right or wrong way to approach it,

novice sounds stressful, take care.
