What to wear on my feet with cigarette pants?

I've got a pair of these which I always wear when I need to be smart and in the warmer weather I wear them with smart flipflops/sandals or flattish pumps (would love to do heels but can't walk in them!) but what do I do when it gets colder? None of the footwear options I have seem to work.

I was wondering about black brogues but don't want to look like Max Wall although I don't have very big feet. Or maybe a slimmer fitting boot of some kind?

Agree with the poster on another thread who said footwear completely dictates the rest of the outfit - I end up wearing clothes that don't really work for what I want just to accommodate the sort of shoes I need to wear.

They are fine for scooting around the corridors at work - I wouldn't want to go shopping in them! :)

Bunbaker · 06/09/2014 16:22

I would need some ski sticks to walk in those Grin
To me high heels start at 1.5 inches.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/09/2014 16:24

The M&S ones are honestly not bad, because they have some padding. Normally, I'm terrible in heels.

lordnoobson · 06/09/2014 17:16

the socks are one step away from Su Pollard

lordnoobson · 06/09/2014 17:18

theya re too high for me for work. At work I sport the slightly frumpalicious max heel height of 8cm. I once tried 10 and i looked stoopid

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/09/2014 17:30

Have no idea how high they actually are tbh, but I am a short-arse, so I'm still smaller than nearly everybody else when wearing them. They don't 'feel' ridiculously high.

Bunbaker · 06/09/2014 18:33

I am 5'7". Those shoes would put me not far short of 6'. I don't need height boosters as I am taller than all of my workmates anyway.

lordnoobson · 06/09/2014 18:39

do you work at Wonkas Chocolate Factory?

Hammerandnails · 06/09/2014 20:06

Some of us of are nearly 6ft before heels, 5'7" is positively snitchy! Get some heels on!!

Bunbaker · 06/09/2014 21:11

They are too uncomfortable Hammer

SinglePringle · 07/09/2014 01:21

this woman wore socks and loafers.

Sue Pollard she is not.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 07/09/2014 05:46

It's heels, pointed / almond toe flats or slippers (eg Sam Edelman Adenas) for me. Heeled shoe boots would work, too.

lordnoobson · 07/09/2014 07:56

Was it you who showed these? Any hoo I got them m.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_58958+4571780589_-1

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 07/09/2014 08:25

Yes, m'Lord! I loved them but they sold out in my size too fast. Well done to you for getting them - they look so great!

lordnoobson · 07/09/2014 08:29

Are a bit sore atm. I'm wearing with flip flops on stand by. Don't think i could wear with pop socks and 7/8 though. Maybe longs

lordnoobson · 07/09/2014 08:30

Debenhams have other ones like tha reduced. Some pink pointy for eg

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 07/09/2014 09:02

I went to Debenhams on Wed, w my Dad for "comfy shoes". My God, the most depressing shop. Dreariness abounds. Will brave it for good shoe bargains, though. I'm courageous like that.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 07/09/2014 09:04

If anyone wants socks you can't see in shoes, H&M does invisible shoe socks.

Why not w 7/8ths, Lord?

CambridgeBlue · 07/09/2014 09:08

Lol from This is England is as stylish as you can get but I am miles from her! Definitely the look I've got in my head though - I love the idea of bold socks but suspect I'd look more CBeebies presenter than cool mod girl .

I did try on some slim flat Chelsea boots yesterday these which I think might work.

I've also got these on order and am wondering about these but think they might veer into Mumboot territory a bit. These might be better.

Only ever online blinners

lordnoobson · 07/09/2014 09:10

Like Chelsea. Hate thd brogues

QOD · 07/09/2014 09:13

What the bloody hell are cigarette pants?

ThisBitchIsResting · 07/09/2014 09:26

I'm off to t'shops shortly to get some cigarette trousers, probably Gap ultra skinny pants. I have brogues I got last year from Dune I plan to wear with them, I do love ballet flats but think brogues more modern / sensible / warm. I plan to balance the masculinity of brogues with feminine top half, eg silky blouses, sleeveless shirts, bright fine knits. Will check out H and M for those invisible socks, thanks Belinda for the tip.

CambridgeBlue · 07/09/2014 09:34

They're slim fitting trousers and they usually sit just on the ankle. I'm a fat curvy short arse but I've got one pair that is really flattering (I think) but what I wear on my feet can make or break them.

OP posts:
Alsoflamingo · 07/09/2014 09:36

It may be old school, but I would go ballet flats. You can get them with decent soles so not like slippers and ok for autumn/winter. More of an Audrey Hepburn look - I think that is best with cigarette pants. Brogues great if you are v. thin and v. young (Alexa Cheung-esque).
