AIBU to actually want to be Laura Fantacci?

She is so bloody stylish, extremely pretty, her DD is gorgeous and her life (especially the summer just spent in Italy) appears pretty damn perfect. I'm sure it's not really but she does a great job of portraying it as such.

I'm interested to know what her new project is now that she's resigned from Red.

Anyone else seriously envious of her?

I would take someones online portrayal of their life with a massive pinch of salt. I thought Peaches Geldof had a fairly idyllic life but was totally wrong about that.

AmberNectarine · 06/08/2014 08:42

YABU - can you imagine how hard it must be to keep up the veneer of perfection. As I said on the MNV thread I just keep wishing she would say 'you know what? I can be arsed today - I'm wearing sweatpants and Greta is having fishfingers for tea'.

dozily · 06/08/2014 09:14

I love her too. She makes it look so effortless and natural too - despite being a stylist she used to wear her hair in a simple ponytail every day and hardly ever get it cut. Even now she's gone for the chop her hair is still very fuss-free.

She's my style crush Smile

KristinaM · 06/08/2014 09:25

What amber said

Then she woudl be scared to go into tesco to buy the aforementioned fish fingers , just in case someone snapped her looking like a normal mum slob

AnnabelleDarling · 06/08/2014 10:15

YANBU

She seems to have a charmed life, I hope for her own sake it's not all artifice, I don't think it is. I think she is one of those lucky people who sails through life (family money always helps with this)

I very much enjoyed my vicarious holiday in Italy via her Instagram this summer, shame it had to end!

LuckySaint · 06/08/2014 10:25

She does look amazing but a bit too perfect for me.
I'd love to see a photo where she's got snot on her shoulder, half chewed biscuit in her hair or something spilt down her front like I often have

I'd quite like to be Eve-wornout or Alex from The Frugality.

MorrisZapp · 06/08/2014 10:27

I have no idea who she is, sorry.

AnnabelleDarling · 06/08/2014 10:57

Oh I LOVE Eve, she is gorgeous Smile

Frugality seems lovely too. Not as glossy as WIT, a bit more realistic

CambridgeBlue · 06/08/2014 11:17

Yes she clearly has money (family and until recently a juicy Red salary) - we all know that can't buy style but it certainly helps. She is my life and style crush though (apart from her odd penchant for muppet fur bags and stoles :)) but I agree it would be exhausting to live being constantly on show and with such high standards to maintain.

Alex Frugality seems really sweet but I HATE her style although I admire her for dressing the way she wants. I don't agree with her ideas on frugal living either - her wedding looked great but then you read the budget was in the thousands, sorry but that's not frugal to me.

I remember reading that fashion magazine salaries aren't as juicy as you would think, that's why they're topped up with freebies and press discounts.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/08/2014 11:40

Laura F drives me mad now; I can't look at her blog anymore because it's all about selling stuff, including selling an image of herself and her family - none of it feels honest, or real and I just find it all a bit cynical. And I liked her style much better when she was just starting out as well - now she's just obsessed by labels.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/08/2014 11:44

Just had a quick look, for the first time in ages - she buys herself and her daughter matching outfits??????????????????????????????! Also, she never shows her daughter's face but is happy enough to show other people's children. Nope - I am even more irritated by it now!

Stokey · 06/08/2014 12:05

She bought her 1 year old a £40 swimsuit? More money than sense IMO

Magazine editors aren't paid very well Annabelle. When I worked at a well-known teen magazine about 10 years ago the editor was paid around £35k. A reporter in a less glamourous field would probably start on not much less than that.

libertychick · 06/08/2014 12:12

I prefer Alex (not so frugal) as well. That said I have bought a few things WIT has recommended in the last few months.

The matching outfits with her DD is a bit strange - although I have to admit I have done it a couple of times by accident with DD (3) - it's like I wake up thinking 'oh yes, jeans and a red top would be nice' and we both get dressed like that. Thankfully I have realised each time before I actually left the house Grin.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 06/08/2014 12:17

Cambridge omg yes. I would like Alex a lot more if her blog wasn't called the frugality, she isn't frugal at all! She just makes excuses for the nice things she has which aren't normal for most people (see: designer bag bought for wedding who needs a bag at their own wedding? and vintage Chanel flap bag passed down from family!). You have nice things, just own them!
Sometimes I feel like she is saying "I have this, here's a cheaper version for you"
She does link nice homewares but of course she's going to know about these things before other people, she works/worked for a fashion magazine!
Imho, she also wants to be Laura Fantacci, she even has her hair

TL;DR you shouldn't have a blog about being frugal if you work in the fashion industry.

WIT on the other hand, I can take with a pinch of salt because she's not claiming to be anything she isn't. All this "big project" secrecy seems a bit self indulgent to me though.

Ahhh I feel better now.

thesaurusgirl · 06/08/2014 12:28

Oh God, she's rapidly becoming one of my blog hate-follows. I read her blog daily and follow her on Instagram because I do like her style, but quite often she turns my stomach, she has no self-awareness at all.

She's such an attention-seeking narcissist, especially with her fecking monograms and swimsuit shots.

I hope HMRC cotton on to her selling Italian gold for her Argos-style rings; somehow I doubt she has the appropriate licences.

She's just spent a month tweeting pictures of her house and holiday in Sicily and yesterday it was her Chanel bag. Now she's advertising for an unpaid intern with blogging experience.

Fuck off, you shark. If your "business" had any potential, the bank would have lent you money to pay salaries.

thesaurusgirl · 06/08/2014 12:32

Liberty I actually like the matching outfits, her daughter is so incredibly cute Blush.

Paddingtonthebear · 06/08/2014 12:35

I had to google her. She sounds annoying. IMO she looked much younger with longer hair

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 06/08/2014 12:38

thesaurusgirl I like your style! Have you heard of Get Off My Internets? Sadly US-centric (not much UK blogger snark) but I think you'd like it nevertheless Wink

bigkidsdidit · 06/08/2014 12:41

I love her style but the long post about her husband's holiday home really turned me off. It is all for sale now. Bt I guess now the blog is her full time job it needs to be.

I do think she has a great gift at making everything look so beautiful and she really makes an effort with eg Greta's nursery decoration and parties. I wish I were so dedicated to making my environment more beautiful

Viviennemary · 06/08/2014 12:41

I don't know who she is either. But I know it's a bit doom and gloom but all this perfect stuff seldom really is behind the scenes.

MrsCampbellBlack · 06/08/2014 12:47

She is very good at making things/her life look wonderful. But she really needs to disclose stuff - was pretty obvious that villa she stayed at in her final bit of holiday had been comped. She'll get into trouble if she doesn't start disclosing.

I like stuff she links too but suspect she has a lot of private money from family and a lot of domestic help.

thesaurusgirl · 06/08/2014 12:47

Blair I love GOMI Blush.

Girls of a Certain Age is hilarious and so is India Hicks' blog. Strange that women who have been much more impressive professionally are much less in love with themselves. Perhaps it's an age thing.

I can't abide Frugality. Those comedy glasses make her look like Alan Carr, no way am I emulating her style.

WildBillfemale · 06/08/2014 12:55

I just googled her - yes It's a great blog, I look a little like her too so will be using it for style inspiration....

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 06/08/2014 13:01

I didn't know who she was so I looked her up.
First impressions nice style but obviously has money
So then I look to her blog. Haven't even opened it and the first thing I read " to take some time off and go to Sicily, in Italy where my husband has a house and to enjoy some family"
No love you're married. That's your house too.
I suspect there are thousands of women who would be as/more stylish with her money.
Me for a start. I have amazing taste. I just don't have the money
