Could I have some advice please ladies? I am a jewel winter and after going through my wardrobe I decide some grey cotton casual trousers would be useful. Imagine my delight when I saw some on ebay BNWT in a brand that fits on a BIN of£15.
Well they have arrived and are good quality and an excellent fit. However even though the label says grey I would call them taupe (a sort of browny grey) I tried them on with the navy tshirt and colbalt blue cardi I was already wearing and I don't really think they match.
Would you say taupe isone of our colours? I have read that it is but I am really convinced.

QueenCardigan · 15/08/2014 17:06

fairy browny-grey can be ok as there's a mole swatch but I guess it depends whether it looks ok and tones with what you have.
nigella I'm an ingenue natural.
Met with carrie today. She looked fab and glam in a simple grey top, jeans and gorgeous scarf. I will be returning the next green cardi as she reckons it isn't bright enough.

Nearest to taupe is no 13 (mole) in our wallets, which even then is single tick below the waist for me as a jewel winter. I struggle with names of colours compared what they actually are but to me mole looks close to Lizard Grey or Mushroom from Kettlewell. So I can see your problem. If they are too different could you dye them if they fit well?

MissScatterbrain · 15/08/2014 17:20

Mole is one of my ** colours....very rarely see this colour in the shops though.

MissScatterbrain · 15/08/2014 17:23

I would describe mole as grey with a tint of brown/beige added to it. I sometimes wear a bit of khaki at the bottom as its a bit similar.

Just remembered Mint Velvet sometimes has this colour - dress

NigellasGuest · 15/08/2014 19:12

can anyone tell me what a sultry winter is?
Is black a * colour for sultry winter?

MrPop · 15/08/2014 19:33

I have these trousers which I think are mole. It is also a below waist colour for me. Taupe I would like of as more beigey.

Nigella I think it is just a winter who suits the darker colours of the palette best.

My consultant didn't define my type of winter but my ** colours are all dark (but not black - can't remember what that is).

My MnS bag arrived today - super fast delivery and it is free delivery atm .

cardigal · 15/08/2014 19:35

Sultry is the deep end of the colours. Indigo, charcoal, pine green off the top of my head. Oh and the deep burgundy one.

Black is a * for me as a sultry and mole and stone are forbidden :)

ThePerfectNegroni · 15/08/2014 19:46

I am a sultry winter and am the same as cardigal. The really deep dark colours look great on me. Stone, mole and the ices are terrible. Black is only really for the waist down.

MrPop · 15/08/2014 19:59

This blouse is emerald green (I think) - style would look awful on me but thought I would link in case anyone else was interested.

MissScatterbrain · 15/08/2014 20:42

I'm a sultry too and the darker/deeper colours plus mole are my * * colours.

ThePerfectNegroni · 15/08/2014 21:26

Another lovely winter coat. Between this and the Jaeger damson coat I linked to the other week, I do wish I had a bigger clothes budget!

mimiasovitch · 15/08/2014 21:55

Oh that red coat is stunning. Way out of my budget though.

NigellasGuest · 15/08/2014 21:55

I think I could be sultry or jewel - black is my best colour including above the waist, but the jewel colours are good on me above the waist too. Perhaps I am a sultry jewel!

MrPop the style of that blouse would be awful on me aswell! I'm not sure it is actually emerald green .... seems a little on the muted side for that. the Next blouse that flamingo linked to is definitely emerald green imo.

ThePerfectNegroni · 15/08/2014 21:58

I know Mimi. I wish I had that budget, but mine is more Primark-like. The Jaeger coats are beautiful this year.

NigellasGuest · 15/08/2014 22:02

I really love the Jaeger damson coat....

mimiasovitch · 15/08/2014 22:13

The problem is that with a coloured coat you need more than one. I mean, I wouldn't want to wear a red coat with a pink dress for example. So apart from the fact that I can't afford one of those coats, I would in fact need two. If I just went for charcoal, I could have just one, plus many scarves of many (in a sultry winter appropriate palette) colours. Any gorgeous, slightly cheaper grey coats out there? I like a fitted silhouette.

ThePerfectNegroni · 15/08/2014 22:15

I've seen this one in a deep purple but it has pleather trim, which I don't think will wear well and is 10% Viscose,2% Elastane,88% Polyester. I do wish it was made like the Jaeger ones but still at this price!

ThePerfectNegroni · 15/08/2014 22:17

Mimi I do agree with you. I do keep narrowing my searches to exclude black and navy, but can't find any good grey coats. I'd love a charcoal/ grey coat with a belt and open neck.

IsItFridayYetPlease · 15/08/2014 23:56

Not many wool coats on their website yet, but I got a good one at Landsend last year.

QueenCardigan · 16/08/2014 08:26

Theres a charcoal peacoat in gap. I have the black one from 11 years ago. I'd like this but in a paler grey.

Mole is god for me for accessories. I have some boots which tone in really nicely with all my clothes.

Nigella I'm a jewel winter and my double star at 100 colours are: charcoal, black, indigo, royal purple, navy, electric blue, lobelia, fuchsia, magenta, raspberry, carmine and light emerald. So having black & darker neutrals as some of your top colours doesn't rule out being a jewel winter Smile

ThePerfectNegroni · 16/08/2014 13:01

Debenhams have this dark grey wool coat from lands end at half price, so £80. I just think the shape is a bit too straight for me, I need a bit more movement. I read the reviews on the American site and they do say to size up.

QueenLego · 16/08/2014 14:54

What do you all think of my new pride and joy? I'm a jewel winter and have wanted a blue Vivienne Westwoid bag for ages. The metal is a dulled gold colour but almost looks silver. Just need a purse now to go with it, am thinking red Grin

Westwood not Westwoid ;)
