Loads of navy and grey boots around this year. these are divine but too classic and masculine for me.

I loved this dress but sadly to big and shapeless on me.

QC- I looked at that bag but it annoys me how it isn't lined! That cardi is lovely- you do love a crew neck! I agree with you on the boots, they are beautiful but a tad too masculine for me too. Would they suit any of our gamines?

re. boots I'd love some navy ankle boots - never found the right pair last winter even though there were lots about.

Also, I'm really coveting these grey suede tall boots from Duo. The price is a bit Shock for me though!

Oh I love that cardigan Queen C. I may need it in pink and purple! I'm trying to plan my new season wardrobe now. I want to make any skirts and dresses, plus T shirts (though they're usually cheap enough that I end up buying them), but buy sweaters, cardigans and other bits that I can't make. I do knit, but I prefer fine knits, and they take forever and a day and I have no patience. I'm looking now at heeled ankle boots to wear with dresses. I have 2 pairs of black already, so I was thinking of grey. What do you think of these or these? The latter in the grey obviously. I can't go too high for general being rubbish in high heel reasons.

Re. ankle boots, I'm going to try and get another year's wear out of my Ash Jalouse. They are the Woodash shade which is a really nice grey.

I need some new boots! My current ones are brown (shock! Bought pre- HoC consultation) and have done 2 winters. DH has spoken to me about my spending though, after a summer holiday and we are about to complete on a new house!

ThePerfect - try shoe dyes.

Lots of lovely links - I am on a no spending ban (self imposed) though.

I bought some brown ones last winter too ThePerfect. HYave to keep them this year too. Love that cardie QueenC. Saw these blue ankle boots which I quite like, although maybe they are a bit greeny for us?

I bought this cobalt top last week. The colour is great but not 100% sure of the style, think I'd wear it with black skinnies rather than a skirt.

Hello folks.

Some great links. Re: boots, I've got a black pair from All Saints from last winter (www.polyvore.com/bonny_boot/thing?id=3457672), which I love, love, love - they make me feel v rock chick.

I also have a tan pair (oops) www.6pm.com/sam-edelman-posey, which I will continue to wear - as long as they're not by my face, I think they'll be ok (I also have a tan bag which I use almost everyday).

Finally, for work, I wear these a lot: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Womens-H-By-Hudson-Mirar-Heeled-Ankle-Boot-Black-Snake-Boots-/130804182754

I may have to get another pair of the Mirar if they still have them...

QueenC you are funny with all your cardis! What did you decide about the next one?

I love this shirt but would it work for a winter?

Report
Stokey · 12/08/2014 16:43

Lovely boots Carrie, those snake ones are great.

I'm not sure about the shirt MrPop the dark girl does look very wintery but it doesn't leap out for me as winter colours, just personal though.

The shirt is Autumn I think - the colours are french navy, peaccock, beige, and seville (orange).

Far too muted as well - as it been said before on these threads, floral patterns sometimes make the overall look muted and therefore can be unsuitable for winters.

mrpop I ve got a bit of a liberty shirt fetish (well not exactly but I like the lawn material and they kind if fit my style..). I think that may be a bit more summer but could give it a try? That's my current rather cavalier strategy! I've looked at lots of liberty shirts on eBay and I'd say there aren't really that many that are great winter ones as they kind of blur to more of a muted tone?

Boots... All mine are tan or brown at the mo'! Can't bring self to rebuy all of them... carrie I really like the Sam Edelman ones.

pop I decided to keep the next one but need to buy some new buttons for it. When looking in the mirror I couldn't really see 'it' with the colour but I took a photo out in the daylight wearing it and totally saw that it suits me. Lovely shirt but as others have said I'm not sure it's winter.

carrie love those hudson boots. I ordered some other navy boots that I also tried on at the weekend as there was only one pair left in my size online. I'll link when I get them. They're navy but totally flat and I'm not sure whether I'd be better with a little bit of height. I've also got grey boots for every day wear and taupe/mole suede heeled ones. I sold my black boots last year as I don't wear much black nowadays although I still have really old black knee highs.

Hello Winters!

I'm a Spring so no interest to you! But my mum is a Winter and looks fab in her jewel colours. I got her done when she was here a couple of years back. She has embraced her Winter palette and has beautiful grey-blue (but mainly grey) hair (naturally) (she's 69). She had jet black hair as a young woman.

I've made her lots of jewellery in Silver and her coloured gemstones (I do wire wrapped stuff) and she's loving it. I loved being able to make stuff for her in another palette (I only started making jewellery to make loads of stuff for myself but got bored of my palette after a while) (not to wear, just to make!)

Ooh I wish I could wear silver.

I wish she would embrace some of the more dark plums and stuff in terms of lipstick, but she feels she is too old, which is rubbish, but I converted her to fuschia lip gloss (I still can't spell that)

I saw someone called Winter Porn Granny in a farm shop once, in gorgeous indigo jeggings, a deep plum sweater and amazing lipstick with the same grey-blue hair.

Anyway, you lot are probably all young and stuff like me (hehe) so enjoy your palette. My friend recently got "diagnosed" as a Winter which was tricky because she had strawberry blonde hair as a child and just didn't see it coming but I saw it as soon as the silver drape went under her chin never mind the rest of the colours! I've been trying to show her the way as a mid-blonde winter which I think can be trickier than your classic "snow white".

I'll try and keep an eye on this thread! Mwah x

She wasn't called Winter Porn Granny officially, of course, though she will forever be called that in my mind Wink

mrpop I have a paler grey version of this but love strawberry thief too. I bought some blue Mitsi fabric in spring to make a top but have failed to do so Blush.
tatty your winter friend sounds more like my colouring though I was not strawberry blond just 'normal' blonde. I used to be on the spring thread as I was told I was a spring about 10 years ago!
