Foogle I have a black leather pencil skirt. My favourite look for it is a tucked in white silk t shirt with short sleeves, and high heels, a lovely look for a night out I think. Also looks great with a denim shirt also tucked in, black tights and black chunky heeled ankle boots. I sometimes wear it to the office with a very fitted plain fine knit jumper and court shoes, I'm finding it very versatile actually. Hope this helps

carrie74 · 16/10/2014 08:42

Would turquoise work? I seem to recall that being a universal colour too?

fooogle · 16/10/2014 11:20

carrie, thinking about it there's winter navy and summer navy allegedly. When I was a 'spring' I think the turquoise was quite yellow? But our one isn't so much... Maybe could all the choir wear black with a coloured scarf?! Then you could all look ok!

Stokey · 16/10/2014 11:25

Fooogle I've been eying up a Zara pleather midi for a while. I was thinking of wearing it with a jacket and trainers/ankle boots but the only short, warm jacket I have is leather and think leather and pleather is a step too far. I'm not sure about coats and midi skirts - they seem to need something shorter.

I think a big wooly jumper with a pleather pencil skirt looks good or some fake fur? I tried on the midi one with a checked shirt and it worked really well.

Stokey · 16/10/2014 11:26

Oh and what about cobalt as a colour that most people suit?

carrie74 · 16/10/2014 11:27

God I love cobalt.

Hee hee travelin, us winters are optimistic! Is kingfisher teal?

SorrelForbes · 17/10/2014 11:09

I've been having a little browse through the latest Boden catalogue. Some of the party/evening stuff has caught my eye (not that I've got anywhere to wear any of it!):

Party blazer. The navy looks nice but the close up pictures are odd.

Shimmer Dress. The pewter shade looks nice but £199 Shock

Useful black top. But again, so overpriced. Might be too boxy for me anyway.

Sequined cardigan in Pewter. Nice and so it bloody well should be for £349 Grin

Long sleeved party top. Again, might be too boxy?

Charitygirl1 · 17/10/2014 13:07

Me in cobalt = puce!

MrPop · 17/10/2014 13:48

Shock and Confused at the Boden prices!!

ItIsntJustAPhase · 17/10/2014 14:44

Mr pop, I agree. Shock

SorrelForbes · 17/10/2014 17:14

These blueshoes called to me today. 20% off too.

QueenCardigan · 18/10/2014 09:00

Lovely shoes sorrell. I also liked that sequin cardi but would anyone pay that much for Boden.

OP posts:
SorrelForbes · 18/10/2014 09:21

I most definitely would not pay that for Boden. I bet the sequins would fall off too.

QueenCardigan · 18/10/2014 13:32

damson dream

I bought this yesterday and really love the colour.

littlemoo sorry for delayed response but what chunky black boots do you have? I'm on a hunt and keep ordering from shoeaholics and sending lots back... Think I want some ankle type ones. am boot nightmare

Littlemoocow · 19/10/2014 07:51

foogle I have these from topshop a couple of seasons ago but I still love them, there are lots around fairly similar I think if it was this type you were thinking of www.marieclaire.co.uk/fashion/botd/529138/topshop-chelsea-boots.html

Stokey · 19/10/2014 09:24

Gosh Johnnie must have sewn the sequins on himself at that price. Gorgeous blue shoes Sorrel

SorrelForbes · 19/10/2014 09:59

I have no idea when I'm going to wear them Grin. Maybe work? I need a night out...

fooogle · 22/10/2014 06:58

Ordered 6 or 7 clarks black ankle boot affairs to try. The search continues...
Have any of you actually started wearing your winter coat? I'm holding off bit kind of waiting to try them out!
Yesterday I wore skinny black trousers (Dorothy p), and a I've pink shirt with indigo jacket, nude pointy flats. I think I need a bit more colour but am feeling shy of it now.
Today, no idea yet!

carrie74 · 22/10/2014 10:19

Lovely shoes sorrell. I saw some cobalt flats in J Crew in New York, and was v v tempted (here they are: www.jcrew.com/uk/womens_category/shoes/flats/PRDOVR~B2726/B2726.jsp?color_name=deep-violet), but I'm findign I really need more support in my shoes these days (just invested in some orthotics..), so walked away.

No winter coat yet fooogle. I'm wearing my Merrell raincoat still, but might start cracking out the old grey Zara coat from 2 years ago. I really want this coat: www.massimodutti.com/gb/en/women/coats/view-all/reversible-coat-c1116501p4526619.html?colorId=401, and a friend of mine is going to Spain today so said he'd have a look for me and bring it back if he sees a MD (it's the same price in € as £ in Spain for some reason. Only Spain, not Portugal, France etc). I've also got an Aigle Cuckmere which I invested in last winter, for when it's properly cold. www.hopevalleysaddlery.co.uk/64/Aigle-Cuckmere-Coat--Sale

Wow, just opened that link - great deal on the Cuckmere!

Stokey · 22/10/2014 10:38

Love the Massimo Dutti one Carrie

I definitely need a new winter coat - have a grey Zara one which is fine but about 4 years old. My contract has just ended though so am now thinking maybe I need a school gate parka rather than smart wool coat at least until new year when I hope to get another job, maybe a cheap versionn of the cuckmere. The trouble is I'm drawn to the khaki ones which I know is not our colour.

Am working from home today having had a tooth out so am in skinnny jeans, long-sleeved white tee, black Puma sweatshirt which was a sales bargain and a leather jacket when I went out. My only colour was a blue cashmere scarf - wrong blue (kind of duck egg) but too warm to discard!

QueenCardigan · 22/10/2014 10:44

I've been wearing my barbour a bit although I have been boiling in it. It's that in between stage of a bit chilly in the mornings for a blazer but not chilly enough for a winter coat.

I've just done a shopping spree in white stuff. Will report back later with links....

Hello! KosherBacon aka Negroni here.

In the practical stakes, I like North Face in grey although it is pricey.
