Who else watched the grey maxmara coat that went at the weekend? I hummed about it but then thought that it would be too small with a chunky sweater under (not that I own one)

Re burgundy being a bit near brown, 12 blueprints describes dark winter (sultry winter) as a winter with a spoonful of chocolate stirred in. If you think about the darker end of the palette, you can see this. She ales says that on the colour wheel, dark winter leans into deep autumn as they are both at the neutral end of their spectrums. Doe that make sense?

SorrelForbes · 10/09/2014 18:56

fooogle I'm worried about 'the lady of the night' look too! DH just raised an eyebrow when I mentioned buying a leather skirt!

I'm watching this MaxMara skirt and this Mango one which I think might be a good shape on me (or not!)

fooogle · 10/09/2014 19:22

Yes that was the one sorrel but the one I won was only about £2 plus postage so I fell for it Hmm .

So tell me about Ash boots on case the come onto brandalley or the like! Sizing? Accurate?

QueenCardigan · 10/09/2014 21:01

perfect that does make sense as I lean into spring on the other side of winter.
I love ice blue and wish you could find more of it around. It's a really good neutral top colour for me as goes well with all the other colours.
sorrell maybe he raised his eyebrows in a good way? Wink

QueenCardigan I'd like to think so but the raising was accompanied by a snigger. Grin

fooogle I keep reading that Ash Jalouse are meant to come up really big but I ordered my usual size (primarily because there's no zip and I was worried about getting my high instep into them) and whilst they're roomy, I couldn't wear thick socks

Stokey · 11/09/2014 09:50

Advice ladies:

I was thinking of buying this tunic. But am not sure whether to go for the burgundy or the blue? The blue looks like a good match for swatch 25 where I have a double tick at 100, the burgundy looks in between 20 (* 100 for me) and 21 ( 100). Which do you think?

ThePerfectNegroni · 11/09/2014 12:38

Burgundy! I think it's a bit more of a "this seasons" colour if you know what I mean.

MrPop · 11/09/2014 13:46

I vote for burgundy too, just seems better for winter (ie when it gets cold) or get both

Stokey · 11/09/2014 14:09

Grin MrPop

Thanks I was going for burgundy originally and got distracted by the matchiness of the blue.

If anyone is after some shocking pink, I quite like this jumper. There's a lot of dark green, grey , burgundy and navy in & Other Stories too. I tried on quite a few dresses today but none were quite right.

MissScatterbrain · 11/09/2014 14:29

If anyone is looking for coat in pine green - there is a mac and a parka in that colour at Fat Face...

QueenCardigan · 11/09/2014 14:39

Another vote for both stokey!!

Just bought this blouse. It says that the spots are cream but they're most definitely white.

I really like other stories and wish they'd open in bristol unlikely

Lovely blouse QueenC

I've bought the burgundy (and a grey skirt for work)

QueenCardigan · 12/09/2014 12:29

Has anyone tried the lipstick colour matching thing at boots no7? I might give it a go when I'm without dd.

standingonlego · 12/09/2014 16:32

I tried on the navy and red spot version for the blouse QueenC but was a bit nervous about the tie cuffs. Instead i bought this somewhat loud jumper - but it was in the sale (£24) and looked ace with black skinnies. A good blue :)

Blue Jumper

Ah ha....that is how you do it :)

SorrelForbes · 12/09/2014 19:46

QueenCardigan No, I hadn't realised that they'd brought this out. The foundation matching worked really well for me so I'll be interested to see how this pans out!

QueenCardigan · 12/09/2014 19:52

If you know your foundation you may be able to do it here

Hmmm! I'm Cool Ivory which is a perfect match for my skin. Out of the suggested lipsticks, the only I think might be OK are:

Soft Ruby

Pink Burst

but even they aren't right. The recommended reds are Brick Red and Soft Paprika.

Yuk. I know that they would all look insipid and pale on me

standingonlego · 13/09/2014 07:19

I just bought brick red yesterday after doing this in boots - it is quite bright on sorrel. I am cool ivory too.

SorrelForbes · 13/09/2014 08:30

Really? Is it not a bit orangey? That's what Brick Red sounds like to me Confused.

I can suck the brightness out of most lipsticks tbh.

Stokey · 13/09/2014 08:59

Great jumper Standing really fun.

I got the Gap silk shirts yesterday and they are very nice. I think the darker grey is a better winter colour but will keep the light grey too. I got xs and no gaping across the chest Sorrel (am 28G).

SorrelForbes · 13/09/2014 12:35

Thanks Stokey, I think I'll order a dark grey as it'll be useful with skirts for work and jeans for casual. I'll go for a Medium.

ThePerfectNegroni · 13/09/2014 21:04

Help needed! I have an evening party to go to which is quite formal and has the dress code of "lounge suit".

I am a sultry winter and 5'4", 32E size 14, big hips and thighs. I am a natural romantic which means Relaxed glamour
Hint of cleavage
Clothes with movement and flirt
Understated luxury
Curves
Heels
Matt and shine mix
Soft texture and drape
Well groomed with natural sparkle
1940s film star glamour

I need a dress and have £100 or less. Open to hiring something or buying used to help my budget go further as it will be a very posh affair. Hit me!

SorrelForbes · 13/09/2014 22:01

Have you looked a that velvet dress I linked to up thread? Too ball gown? It's quite 40 in style.

Is anyone watching Last Night of the Proms? Ruthie Henshall was wearing the most wonderful red ball gown.

QueenCardigan · 13/09/2014 22:10

perfect I'll have a think tomorrow when I'm not pissed but formal and lounge suit sound like an oxymoron to me could just be the wine

I did the no7 thing today. I'm a deeply ivory apparently and I ended up buying the raspberry blush. I'm pretty sure it sure to all my other pink lipsticks though. I didn't have time to try on much but I will when I have more time.
