Isit I think I would be told the same. But there must be some people (me) who dress casually and don't always want to wear lipstick / nailpolish.

I also don't like to wear scarves other than woollen ones for warmth and I don't like belts that much either.

Having said that, I did go and put some plum lipstick on earlier and it did 'lift' my look.

ItHas your outfit sounds nice.

ItHasANiceRingWhenYouLaugh · 18/08/2014 16:23

I'm a dramatic gamine so I do well with a bit of weird or quirk or eccentric about me.

And my new mobility scooter is in royal blue so counts as an accessory I reckon. Grin

NigellasGuest · 18/08/2014 16:39

I'm also dramatic gamine

QueenCardigan · 18/08/2014 16:40

ithas that outfit sounds fab. I'm so glad the next cardi works for you. And I love the thought of a cobalt mobility scooterGrin

mrpop I pretty much wear jeans with a navy, grey or white top and a bright coloured cardi. I struggle in summer to get my brightness without my cardi. I do often add in a different coloured belt for another colour or will often use a coloured bag.

I think HOC basically like to see you in lots of colour and looking your best all the time. There's a scoring system page in the style book where you get points for interest in your outfit eg a necklace, nail polish etc and from memory you should be aiming for about a score of 9 and anything less is underdressed apparently. I can imagine sticking to that if I was working but some days I just cba to think about it all if I'm just doing the school run and housework. I do feel more pulled together though if I'm wearing 3 colours.

Don't forget that silver is a colour that you can add in the form of a necklace/bracelet.

pinkflaming0 · 18/08/2014 20:08

Love to hear the colour combinations people are wearing.

Today I'm in indigo jeans, royal blue t-shirt, silver grey jersey blazer and black/royal blue/mole suede high wedge sandals. Also, chunky solver bracelet and fuchsia finger and toe nails. Unusually no belt. Oh and undies are burgundy/damson!

Actually thinking about it all my undies are winter colours except the nude stuff.

Always have bright nails at the moment. That's one of the biggest changes I made since being diagnosed. I'm looking forward to some nice burgundies, damsons and purples in the autumn and winter.

Hoping to see more burgundy and damson clothes and accessories in the shops too. Still looking for a large burgundy bag with silver hardware - all the ones I've liked have had gold Sad

I've just been sorting out my pin boards and have created this one.

Some lovely colour combinations there Queen.

NowhereNow · 18/08/2014 22:34

I'm really enjoying hearing about other people's outfits/colour combos. Today I'm wearing a colour combination I haven't tried before: light emerald t-shirt with a bright pink cardigan over the top and black jeans. Normally I wear this pink cardigan with a bright blue or white top underneath - green feels quite daring.

MrPop · 19/08/2014 08:24

Love all those combos QueenC - very inspiring.

Nowhere emerald and pink sounds lovely together.

I am trying to be a bit brighter today - black trousers, lilac (or should I say ice lavender!) jumper, blue shoes and when I go out I will probably wear a pale blue (ice blue) denim jacket and my new MnS purple bag.

And a lipstick - I've got out of the habit of wearing them over the summer.

ItHasANiceRingWhenYouLaugh · 19/08/2014 08:40

Pink cardigan , white tshirt and indigo pencil skirt. Silver necklace and Black flats probably. Looks nice, but I like the idea of a bright blue tshirt with pink, wouldn't have thought of that. Grin

QueenCardigan · 19/08/2014 09:11

I'm loving the sound of all your colour combos. I wish I could be more daring but it doesn't feel right. Dark jeans and navy blouse today for me. Will add in a bright cardigan and bag when I do out later though.

Too cold, got changed. Indigo jeans, white tshirt with a dark emerald jumper. And a black fleece despite it being August cos I feel the cold. Grin

MissScatterbrain · 19/08/2014 11:49

Dark jeans (again!), fine knit grey jumper and a dark red scarf today.

NigellasGuest · 19/08/2014 11:56

Queen I love the damson and ice blue combo (Audrey Tatou)

NigellasGuest · 19/08/2014 12:02

I'm wearing black pencil skirt and cobalt blue top - I also may get changed though due to it being a bit chilly today! or at least throw on a cardi a la Queen!

QueenCardigan · 19/08/2014 13:12

Just been out so added an ice blue cardi and fuschia bag and lips Smile

Sounds lovely Queen.

Pale grey and chinese blue is another nice combination.

OhIDoLikeToBeBesideTheSeaside · 19/08/2014 17:40

Hello winters!
I had my colours done at the end of last year and I'm a jewel winter. I love the winter colours and it's really changed the way I think about clothes.

It's lovely to read about what you're all wearing to get some ideas - I've been wearing a lot of navy and while this summer, but I'm trying to add more bold and bright colours. Today I'm wearing an ice aqua dress and a navy cardigan with silver jewellery and shoes, plus bright pink nails and bag.

IsItFridayYetPlease · 19/08/2014 18:36

Welcome OnIDo.

I was really happy with my jewel winter diagnosis too, but it has been this thread (and its predecessors) that have really helped me get my head round the colour combining. I fairly conservative with my matches and love navy, white and bright pink as a combination and black, grey & red, but am still struggling with the icy colours. But as they are not ** colours I'm in no hurry.

NigellasGuest · 19/08/2014 19:29

I also don't like to wear scarves other than woollen ones for warmth and I don't like belts that much either.

MrPop - I don't either, and at my style day she said just dont bother with them - they aren't "me"! I breathed a big sigh of relief.... I just don't "get" scarves, belts etc. All too fussy for me - although I appreciate seeing them on people who can pull them off so to speak.

OhIdoLike I think I am in a similar position as you!

ItHasANiceRingWhenYouLaugh · 19/08/2014 19:45

Hi OhIDo! Also a Jewel winter here.

Was told to wear belts. Have ignored. Grin

NowhereNow · 19/08/2014 21:56

Today I wore a royal blue vest with a navy cardigan and a bright pink scarf. My jeans were mid blue so not right at all.

Like others have said, I feel quite self conscious wearing scarves. I can see they are a good way to add colour, but I'm not sure if they suit me. I really need to book a style day...

pinkflaming0 · 19/08/2014 23:12

Important client meeting today - silver grey Gap 7/8ths trousers, Next loose fitting top black with off-white spots (I know, but it suits me loads better than the navy/bright white version - think it's cos I'm a 'burnished'), black blazer, burgundy Boden 60's heels, silver bracelet and of course the gelish fuchsia nails.

Definitely indigo jeans with navy Converse tomorrow - not sure what top and cardi/jacket. That's what's so great about everything going together - I can decide in the morning from loads of options!

NigellasGuest · 20/08/2014 07:00

I just want to rip scarves off because they annoy and irritate me and in any case they look silly on me - i have to have distinct lines IYSWIM especially around neckline. This whole style thing is amazing because on some people scarves look fabulous! And often I see a scarf and think it looks beautiful, but there's just no point for me. Nowhere if you go on a style day you will either learn how to use scarves effectively for you, or be told not to bother with them at all!

pinkflaming0 I do like the sound of your outfit. Hope the meeting went well....
Nails: I am enjoying wearing "blush" by Jessica - it's very pale almost neutral but quite a cold pink. I have bought Lose your Lingerie but can't experiment with that yet as "blush" is gelled on...
