Good news re your parents Marsha Smile

Great TK Maxx find Mara - the ones round my way never have DVF Envy

libertychick · 21/07/2014 17:02

Well done Stokey Smile

santamarianovella · 21/07/2014 17:05

That's a great relief marsha glad its all ok Smile, its a gorgeous bag,we should call it the Brady bag Grin.
its very overwhelming to choose one, think they trick you with a few pieces displayed on the rack in front ,and when you ask if it comes in other colors they bring out a load of more colours and you start to panic! You did the right thing , orange is very versatile ,

liberty isn't it your birthday near too?

turq I love The grey knotted dress,

topaz thanks, DSS is 8, he is finding it difficult, the idea of leaving friends and moving to another country is really upsetting him, wish we took him to see the new school and have a look around the city, but schools in Germany close really early and open mid-late August, so poor thing he will have a very short summer holiday,

blair I had less than 5 months to plan my whole wedding, the dress was the hardest part, everything else was more easy, and still now I wish I chose another dress, but it was the only one I liked and that could be fitted in short time but it involved a trip to NYC!, I would've love to remarry in an Oscar de la renta wedding gown, I went and had a look with my mum when she came here and they had the most beautiful gowns ever, and all those pretty little girls dresses, so cute,

Hope all is good amber

Lovely bag queen

And that dress is a bargain mara

libertychick · 21/07/2014 17:17

Drywhiteplease · 21/07/2014 17:57

Evening all....I'm .very late indeed.

Marsha happy belated birthday sexy legs, sounds like you're having a great time???the bag is perfect and good idea to get bigger! and lovely to hear you received flowers from your family Smile x

Topaz you are glam to do the laundry! fab dress.

Sleep now that is what I call a "wafty" top/dress.....perfect.

Turq great purchases.

Queen pretty top and that bag is a brilliant buy! I bet CPW will be low by the end of the year.

Mara why don't I do so well in TKMaxx? Sad

Amber hope you're ok. It's a funny time of year.

Boiling hot...got home and put my Boden chambray tunic/shift dress on and flip flops.

A/W Boden catalogue arrived. Not exciting but will link a few pieces I will think about for work.......WISH they would be a bit more specific about skirt lengths, "falls just above the knee" is pretty subjective isn't it Hmm

santamarianovella · 21/07/2014 18:00

Omg stokey ,the first thing I though,it can't be true! Then I read the part where it says the groom is in his 20s and has 5 kids from 3 other marriages, so then I though it must be true then!

OneLittleLady · 21/07/2014 18:02

happy belated birthday libertyThanks Thanks Thanks Wine Wine Thanks Thanks Wine Wine Thanks Thanks Thanks

Drywhiteplease · 21/07/2014 18:03

Quite fancy a yellow skirt am I loosing the plot? Perhaps turquoiseor maybe this turquoise. Need colour. Do you remember this time last year I bought bright colours (red skirt, pink jumper and green jumper to put with cobalt) for work and never had the guts to blind my colleagues? Grin

Drywhiteplease · 21/07/2014 18:25

perfect work dress......pockets for crap, stretchy, 3/4 sleeves so no dragging in paint etc, decent length. Love this colour.

Drywhiteplease · 21/07/2014 18:26

The berry

Drywhiteplease · 21/07/2014 18:28

BrandyAlexander · 21/07/2014 18:41

ThanksThanksThanks Lib! Mwah mwah mwah! Happy belated birthday babe x hope you had a great day too!

Marsha sounds like you're having a fab and fashionable daySmile great choice!

Thanks For Amber.

Stokey · 21/07/2014 18:51

I prefer the second turquoise skirt Dry, I'm not sure about the shape on the first, short and wide? And I really like the not bad work dress but think it would work better on the small chested.
I got the catalogue today too but have yet to put y AW head on. I'll see if I get this job first, it'll be more client facing so more clothes needed.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/07/2014 19:16

Always a good excuse Stokey! Hope you hear soon about next interviews.

liberty happy birthday for yesterday! Cake Thanks and Wine to you too. Hope you had a lovely day.

Marsha great choice on the bag, it is the best colour :)

I saw that thread santa, hilarious! And gobsmacking. I am already worrying about gift request etiquette.

Dry nice Boden links, I'll have to have a look through their AW stuff.

I do want to get discussing dresses but don't want to bore everyone... I'm freaking out at the thought of spending £00s on something I will wear once, as it totally goes against the way I usually shop. What did you all do? Bridal shop/designer off the rack/etc?

Drywhiteplease · 21/07/2014 19:29

Stokey I am flat chested Grin
liberty how did I miss your birthday?

Blair I had mine made. BUT with all things wedding the sky is the limit and there's a lot of Mark up on stuff just because it's wedding. My shoes were really cheap (sale rail, white dyed with tea to match my dress Blush) I just couldn't bring myself to go bonkers on some items I would wear once. I saved on underwear didn't stay on longWink actually that is a lie my dress was boned so no real need for support. Tiara was cheap too but tasteful .veil was a family one so I didn't pay for it and it has since done two more weddings
If you remain open minded about flowers, choosing something seasonal, you can save there too.
I ADORE weddings, can't bore me. Link away.

shopafrolic · 21/07/2014 19:33

Liberty !!!! OMG I didn't know - so sorry! Hope you had a fabulous day! Flowers
Marsha LOVE the bag - good choice.

Blair I wore a simple ivory maxi from Coast with a vintage beaded shrug I found in a second hand store. I couldn't spend thousands on my wedding dress as a. I feel like a dick in occasion dresses and b. I was only wearing it once.

Stokey · 21/07/2014 20:23

Mine was an Asian jewel-encrusted top and skirt that I bought in Southall, still managed to spend a grand though and wouldn't show my waist now. It was very heavy and I couldn't lift my arms up, but did glisten in the sunlight.

Just be realistic about what you want to spend but at the same time, it is a once in a list fetime occasion. If I'd gone western, I found a lovely lace dress at Pronovias for £800.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 21/07/2014 20:24

Ditto Amber. The last time I wore a posh dress was for my school prom (hired), I never even wear maxis. So I'm torn between getting my "value for money", and getting something that's really me (because I love clothes). Need to find a balance somehow Confused

Lol Dry :) I wouldn't know where to start getting one made, is it generally cheaper or not? Not that I would know what I want...

Starting to think there's a lot to be said for having an idea of what you want at your wedding before you get engaged, saves a lot of thinking later!

Drywhiteplease · 21/07/2014 20:30

Blair you need to try on loads! LOADS. I was bridezilla when it came to dresses...every time I visited a new city for work I found a wedding shop. I ended up with totally the opposite to what I'd imagined at first, but the dress I got was perfect for me and for my shape.
Often what looks good on the hanger looks terrible on, and visa versa....and try on dresses that you think "aren't you" because you might be surprised. But most imp of all.....is you must look and feel like YOU.

Drywhiteplease · 21/07/2014 20:32

But perhaps the try on fest isn't for everyone.
Made to measure is generally pricier than off the peg....if I did it again I'd buy of the peg.
