You'll love it. All the agency stuff is great. And I really get the characters based on their roles in the agency. I know the cigarettes!

Drywhiteplease · 29/04/2014 22:09

And the booze....whiskey during the day, all day .
There's an episode in later seasons, where Betty and Don go to Italy, her clothes are incredible. I love how the fashions change. Love it.

Dry the fab scene where they cough in the smokes meeting.

Betty is stunning, as is Joan and the fashion is great.

shopafrolic · 29/04/2014 22:14

Cool, will definitely be watching more.
Still feeling rubbish, keep having to cancel plans so need some stuff to fill the evenings.

Drywhiteplease · 29/04/2014 22:25

Sunday I watched the 3 episodes of Jamaica Inn ....great stuff.
Yesterday 3 episodes of Crimson Field and the 4th tonight. Love a series fest.
Watched 6/7 seasons of West Wing about 5 yrs ago with DH....took about 3 months, max 4 episodes a night...exhausting.
Love having whole seasons/ box sets to watch.

justasecond · 29/04/2014 22:47

Well done One that is great news! Flowers
I just wrote a wrong post and lost it all!
Feeling exhausted as having a particularly bad period heavy, heavy bleeding (sorry tmi) and DH away atm so having to contend with 3 dc on my own.
Picked up my Next silver flats and ts bf jeans but too worn out to open them or try on.
I love Mad Men, will be sad when it is over. I love Don, so wrong but so right. Does anyone watch The Good Wife? Will give Jamaica Inn a go, have it recorded.
KM looks great in those pics although that suit she is wearing is obvs all mmf, trousers are horribly creased. Those cheekbones really are something else though aren't they?

libertychick · 29/04/2014 23:03

I like The Good Wife Justa - haven't had much time for it lately though. Sorry to hear you are not feeling great.
Had a row with DH tonight so consoled myself by ordering 5 Espirit tops (inspired by QueenC!). Too tired to do links - will link if there are any keepers. Night all.

AmberNectarine · 30/04/2014 08:02

I'm all about Breaking Bad at the moment. Totally hooked, and I secretly fancy Walt.

OneLittleLady · 30/04/2014 08:08

Loved breaking bad, the wire, mad men and the following. Things still haven't sunk in! I can't believe I'm starting a degree in just over four months!!

shopafrolic · 30/04/2014 08:55

Thanks for the Mad men fashion link Blair - can't wait to see more.

Fedupnagging · 30/04/2014 09:06

Morning

One sooo excited for you. I admire anyone who goes back into education especially to do a degree as it is a big understating especially if you have a family.

Liked your links last night Queen especially the pumps and esprit blouse.

Justa hope you are feeling a bit better today and Blair well done on your pay rise.

Liberty hope you like the tops you ordered last night. I find purchases after a row etc are never suitable in the end.

On the basis of recommendation on here, we have the 1st season of HOC to watch - just need some time to do it. Didn't catch Jamaica inn but am enjoying Crimson Field. Might look out Mad Men and The Good Wife too.

Am wearing navy skinnies, raspberry oversize jumper and blue loafers today. (miserable weather here).

LinusDKD · 30/04/2014 09:49

Morning!

I just got a J Crew order I did when I was on holiday. I was looking for some tank tops but I am quite fussy about them as they can make me look bulky.

These are lovely though but I will have to wear a strapless bra as the back is a bit racerback-ish.

this

LinusDKD · 30/04/2014 09:50

in brilliant blue

OneLittleLady · 30/04/2014 09:51

thanks fedup i can't believe i'm in! I know it's a huge undertaking but I'm ready for it. Well, as ready as I'll ever be anyway! Just have to wait for my welcome letter and stuff now with my official start date and reading list. Once I have that, I can get my bank account switched to a student one, sign up for my NUS card etc etc

LinusDKD · 30/04/2014 09:52

this in navy a bit more dressy but very nice.

LinusDKD · 30/04/2014 09:55

Ok so the Brilliant Blue link didn't work but if you click on the colour you can see what it's like.

I like them so much I have ordered them in three more colours. (All with a discount, of course)

Ujjayi · 30/04/2014 09:59

Wow. I turn my back for three weeks a minute and you lot have got through another volume and then some!

Have quickly skim read this volume so apologies if I have missed anyone's important news.

One CONGRATULATIONS!! What are you going to be studying? How exciting to be embarking on 3 glorious years of education :)

QueenC the message you received with your flowers made me a little teary . What a thoughtful DH.

Loving all the links as usual. Have been busy working but have managed to fit in a few sneaky purchases - some successful, some less so.

This Marant "Grace" - a-like is gorgeous. Looks rather strange on the model but if you click on the other views you can see it is actually rather lovely. I am wearing today with a slinky silver pendant and black flats. I am rather determined to get lots of wear out of my clothes this season - have fewer but wear them and enjoy them more. This is definitely one of those pieces.

Silver sling backs which I am certain are identical to the Boden ones I ordered last month. Alas, these also didn't fit but DH is returning them and exchanging for the next size up...fingers crossed. Actually, this was a bit of a sore point as I also ordered DH some beautiful cobalt trousers which fit perfectly...trying to hide the resentment was somewhat challenging envy

I remembered at 8am that the Kate Moss collection was released today. Abandoning my make-up, I managed to snaffle kaftan dress and also the cream smock dress Not certain I want either but am curious. I said that with the Marant for H&M collection and ended up keeping both pieces (a silver coloured cuff and a gold/navy silk tank).

Anyone looking for a floaty shirt/tunic for spring Boden's star print version is lovely and a real bargain for a silk blouse. I bought it a few weeks ago and have worn it loads.

I am considering the MU...if you'll have me blush But please, if I am accepted into the ranks, do call me by my real name and not "ooodge"!!

Anyone planning on visiting the Italian Fashion or Savage Beauty exhibitions at the V&A? Apparently tickets for the latter are already in short supply.

All this Mad Men talk is making me want to watch it all again. DH and I both loved watching it. Agree that Don is a swine but a sexy one. The fashion is glorious. And the entire show from language to sets was so incredibly spot on that I had to keep reminding myself it was made in the last few years.

We're now back on track with House of Cards (we watched the first 8 eps over a few nights then took a break). Just watched episode 10. Another great bit of tv. I think I may have a slight Kevin Spacey crush...

Right, back to the sewing machine. I keep telling myself "I'm almost there" but it really doesn't feel that way. It really damaged the schedule by taking the Easter break with the DCs instead of working through. Last week was a write off too (due to reasons I shall not bore you with) but hopefully the end is in sight. And then I can send you all some lovely links of my own

Ujjayi · 30/04/2014 10:02

Linus love the tuxedo tank.

Ujjayi · 30/04/2014 10:05

None of my smileys worked in my post. Apologies for random bizarre links instead Blush

OneLittleLady · 30/04/2014 10:06

thank you Ujj I'm so excited but also sick with nerves! I'm really interested in seeing what you make, I love handmade and designed things, they just always seem so special and personal IYKWIM?

santamarianovella · 30/04/2014 10:07

shop don't give up on mad men,its sooo good, season 3 is the best in my opinion, and don and roger friendship is very funny at times.
I watched one episode of Jamaica inn,and felt like crawling into tv and pull Mary hair away from her face,it was driving me nuts, don't think I will watch it again,

queen really like your blouse,

linus the second top is very nice.

I just had a look at Kate for TS on nap,and surely its a joke? Its a copy of her wardrobe ,I though she was designing a collection not copy and paste one, and that suit she wore for the launch is just horrible, too £££ for TS.

MarshaBrady · 30/04/2014 10:10

Santa it is a direct copy of her greatest hits isn't it. The yellow dress in particular.

Ujj great to see you! I agree on the interruption of holidays, there are many. You build up steam them bam. Back in a bit to look at your links.

MarshaBrady · 30/04/2014 10:12

Liberty I hope you are ok, Esprit order sounds good.

LinusDKD · 30/04/2014 10:14

Love that black dress ujjayi!

Ujjayi · 30/04/2014 10:15

One I remember the nerves so well - both with Uni the first time around and going back to study 3 years ago...surrounded by all the youngsters and feeling a right old gimmer. Rather sweetly, they told me "gosh, we thought you were in your twenties, not that old"...I was 40... Grin

I agree about the special aspect. Although there is nothing completely unusual about my summer collection, it is all handmade and lovingly so. I have tried to think carefully about all the things that annoy me with clothing (synthetics, things cut wrong for a woman who needs to wear a bra - i.e. everyone except flat chested supermodels etc). I craft and draft each item from scratch - no commercial patterns - so it is a long process. I have left this really late when you consider when most summer collections are released - February or so. Ultimately, I have designed my ideal summer wardrobe and if it doesn't sell I will still have my clothes. I have just finished a toile for a silk tank. (My toile is made from polyester sari fabric I bought from the charity shop...I am on a very tight budget for my trial fabrics as all finished items will be silk, cotton and linen). I keep gazing at it like a proud mama...and then remembering I have another 15 pieces to make!!
