What's your absolutely worst colour for you that you know you should not buy no matter how appealing it looks?

  • purple / deep wine colour
AmberNectarine · 13/05/2014 09:29

Mustard or peach . Anything yellowy really as I am yellow enough and it makes me look ready for a liver transplant. Olive green also not good.

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2014 09:37

Hey Amber Smile yep anything really red just enhances that for me too. Not good.

I saw on another thread you've had a good spree, would love to see links!

I've bought big all lately but got paid today. Excellent.

Stokey · 13/05/2014 09:42

Beige or nude for me - can't see where my body starts and my clothes end.

Amber I thought I couldn't do yellow too thanks to yellow skin tone, but have found a bright almost neon yellow kind of works like this Cos jumper. I have very dark hair and the contrast seems to overcome yellow skin issues... or maybe I'm just deluded!

LinusDKD · 13/05/2014 10:08

Beige/cream is a nono for me as well as I am quite pale with a lot of pink/red in my face.

I do suit acid lemon yellow which I only discovered last year when I bought my white/yellow MiH breton.

this arrived today and I think I will have to send it back as it makes me look very bulky.

It is a lovely cotton top but it just doesn't suit me.

I still haven't received my tube skirts which were ordered before the top above and the Oasis shoes so I'll have to contact Asos.

santamarianovella · 13/05/2014 10:09

Thank sleep and secret I ordered the Marseilles trousers in xs,

I can't do olive green, but deep forest green looks good,

Secretsquirrel13 · 13/05/2014 10:11

Beige or cream for me too. Or orange.

OneLittleLady · 13/05/2014 10:18

I can't do yellow, brown, coral or cream. they all make me look ill.

shopafrolic · 13/05/2014 10:36

I have to be careful with pink (which is a good thing really as I'm not made keen on it anyway), and most pastels

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2014 10:56

Interesting. I think on the colour thing knowing the little that I do, I'd say winter and autumn are out for me and spring/ summer is best.

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2014 11:28

Back home now, was just a meeting.

Some lovely stuff on the outnet, I love this M Katrantzou sweater but too ££ so probably good that it's sold out.

LinusDKD · 13/05/2014 11:42

Marsha pm!

MarshaBrady · 13/05/2014 11:57

Ooh thanks Linus! They are lovely and so close, but sadly can't do low rise.

These are they lovely MiH pale skinnies if anyone else can.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/05/2014 12:14

santa Hush haven't even dispatched my harems yet, but based on the reviews I went for XS even though I'm a 10. Glad I did now as Secret says they come up large. Hope yours fit!

Aldo refunded me £5 less than they should have Sad I have to laugh really!

Stokey I'm the same as you, nude/pale colours wash me out. I have dark hair, pale skin and light eyes so need more contrast. Other than that, oxblood/burgundy and mustard. But then I have had my colours done so I had a bit of help :)

santamarianovella · 13/05/2014 13:08

blair that's outrageous! That is the worst CS ever! Badly done Aldo!,

shopafrolic · 13/05/2014 13:52

Blair that sucks - I bet they'll say it's the postage...... Rubbish.
Is it me or it the Outnet just brilliant nowadays. It's always been good, but their stock right now is phenomenal.
Lousy, lousy rainy weather here. I pick up my new car tomorrow, don't think I'll be cruising round in the sunshine with my sunglasses on Hmm
22 degrees on Friday apparently... woop!

Stokey · 13/05/2014 13:57

I suspect I'm a winter colour-wise but don't know.
Am considering doing it this summer with DM when she comes over from Australia. I think it would be interesting to do it together as she is Asian while I have an Irish father so we have quite different colouring.

AmberNectarine · 13/05/2014 14:59

Linus real acid neon yellow is ok on me but anything with warmth is terrible. I have a neon yellow raincoat that I wear a lot!

Marsha indeed I have, been stocking up my holiday wardrobe. Will return with links!

LinusDKD · 13/05/2014 15:38

Mustard/buttercup/ochre looks horrible on me as well amber

Ordered this this morning. I love the sleeves but I hope the neckline is not too revealing. not that there is a lot to reveal

LinusDKD · 13/05/2014 15:43

Was it liberty who was looking for grey boots last winter?

these are lovely.

Drywhiteplease · 13/05/2014 15:54

Linus I ordered one of the DP broderie dresses before the discount Angry v nice quality, v tempted, but sending back because I don't trust myself with white and do not need another dress Hmm

Colour wise I'm an all year woman....60% autumn, 30% winter 10% spring. Anything blue toned makes me look a bit, well blue.Grin. You will never see me wearing lilac granny , neon, acid green, yellow, beige/nude/camel near my face make me look pasty Sad

Hello ladies!

Grumpy, Pollyanna is still going, I love that shop for my DDs. DD1 used to be dressed in Kenzo Kids from there until my salary ran out!

I still like and wear black though don't buy it much now and mostly wear softer colours (House of Colour summer). Warm colours aren't good at all on me.

Enjoyed the Dublin talk, I went to Trinity and used to go to the Pav, Annabel's and Leggs, also the Stags Head was a favourite. I was very into my mini skirts or else jeans/blazer/loafers/Ralph Lauren shirt and pearl earrings (think I looked just like my mother). Hated Bon Jovi, loved the Pixies.

Liberty, nice quilt cover.

I will try to come along for an hour or two depending on where you are meeting but am a maybe if that's ok.

I ordered a grey J Crew t shirt and these shoes (thanks Amber for the heads up!). Trying to wait for the sales now but I'm looking for a top like this in white or grey if anyone has seen one (not viscose, my Me & Em one has holes in it after being worn once, grr).

Decameron · 13/05/2014 16:07

How are you doing, Shop?

SoyYo · 13/05/2014 16:33

hello ladies, hope you don't mind me sharing as not usually that active in MN, but have treated myself BIG TIME this spring with the following Muubaa leather jackets (on asos and outnet sale):
For work:

For play:
[http://www.asos.com/Muubaa/MuuBaa-Sirius-Fitted-Biker-Jacket-with-Zip-Detail/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3608564&SearchQuery=muubaa%20sirius&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Black]

I LOVE LOVE them! and don't care if I don't buy another thing for months, hey even years! Best purchases I have made in ages though I did flinch at the price even in the sale, so I hope they last me for many years to come.
Do you like? Smile

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 13/05/2014 16:36

I totally agree re the Outnet shop, I could happily have dropped a grand on today's new in items alone, if I had it wasn't saving for holiday next week. I love Mary Katrantzou - one day!
