Over here all you fashionistas for fabulous, frivolous, friendly, fashion talk and more. High end or high st, we don't care as long as your glass is half full.

MarshaBrady · 08/05/2014 22:36

I think they're fine One!

MarshaBrady · 08/05/2014 22:40

they are sort of back in anyway. Ok that's it

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/05/2014 22:41

One I have a balmain-esque asos blazer with padded pointy shoulders (first seen on Wendy Blush). At the end of the day, only you know they're there!

liberty hopefully you can get it in the sales :)

Ahhh Marsha do you mean the tops that you had to do up under the crotch? Sorry if not but that's what sprang to mind for some reason!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/05/2014 22:42

X post ignore me, not sure what I was thinking of there!! Blush

Drywhiteplease · 08/05/2014 22:43

Oh Marsha who thought that was flattering? I guess it would have made your waist look tiny but how ridiculous really! Funny though. Fashion is odd isn't it?

Tonight's question....
What trends did you originally say NEVER to and eventually ended up wearing?

Mine...skinny jeans. I remember seeing K Moss in them very early and thinking never, never with my carrot shaped legs.....but 15 years down the line I'm wearing them.

OP posts:
OneLittleLady · 08/05/2014 22:46

skinny jeans for me too.i outright rejected them when I was slimmer.only found the confidence to wear them in the last few years.very behind the trend on these Grin

MarshaBrady · 08/05/2014 22:50

Blair yes the body! I remember them well with Levi 501s or LEE did anyone do Lee jeans? So funny, have they gone?

Good question Dry. I nearly did slippers, wedge trainers but didn't so I need to think of something else.

MarshaBrady · 08/05/2014 22:52

With poppers. Such an odd thing, who was responsible DvF?

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/05/2014 22:53

Oh I was right? I saw your pic and thought oh dear I've obviously missed something! Grin It's funny, I remember them but don't remember having one. When were they fashionable?

Dry my most recent one is culottes, I even said on here I wouldn't go there and a few weeks later bought some!

MarshaBrady · 08/05/2014 22:55

I had one in high school, mid teens. Dark green. So hmm '89 perhaps.

LollipopViolet · 08/05/2014 22:59

Pinterest is awesome, I need to start a board for fashion stuff, I think.

Mostly shop in places like New Look, Quiz and other random places, depends who has the stuff I want (and if they have a sale, even better!)

Jewellery wise I'm more inclined to go for chains/metalwork rather than beads etc.

I will try and post some links to my makeup tomorrow :)

I quite like this kind of thing, as well I'd wear that with some smart jeans, and my Converse.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/05/2014 23:02

Yes poppers! Like a babygro. I think I must remember them from a bit later then, you were obviously a trendsetter when they first came out Grin

Drywhiteplease · 08/05/2014 23:05

Well of course I had those bodies...they were great worn under longline cardigan with shoulder pads and big belt to synch in waist....until you sneezed or bent over Shock ..........

MarshaBrady · 08/05/2014 23:06

I can say that would have been a first Blair I grew up where fashion doth not shine (well not much, a kind of sloane in the sun). Scarves, Alice bands, blazers and loafers. Hah!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/05/2014 23:09

Lol Marsha but at least you had your own style, something I definitely lacked as a teen...! Looking back and cringing, maybe that's a question for another night Grin

MarshaBrady · 08/05/2014 23:11

We admit all here Blair go for it, I've got to sleep but shall read in the morn. Grin

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 08/05/2014 23:35

Evening all.

shop so pleased you're finally taking command of your wayward immune system. Hope you're feeling much better soon.

Welcome Lollipop. Always brilliant to have fresh input, but beware of the temptations that lie within this thread I should know

Dry - flares, skinnies, delicate heels, statement necklaces - I could go on with all the things I've said 'never' to and then U-turned on (easily led)

Been avoiding MNV as I've booked flights to Florida in August must be mad in that heat which were so £££ I'm almost afraid to spend any more money.

That said... I couldn't resist the white JCrew dress and beaded tasselled clutch on Pink Peonies a couple days ago (her last night in Cabo - can't link as on phone). Very lovely for a swanky meal out in a tropical climate - how could I resist being, as I was, flush with holiday fever? I added to that purchase with a Heidi Klein Beach candle I can burn in my bedroom when I'm there, but that's strictly all. I will not buy one more thing - instead I'll save up for a Stateside spree of lovely AW14 collections. I shall be living vicariously through all your lovely links instead, so keep em coming!

QueenCadbury · 09/05/2014 07:19

I haven't got time to catch up fully but liberty I hate you!!!! Grin. I bloody love that coast top and it's the same as the blue one I have. Is it a proper crisp white or off white? It would look fab for the 40ths I'm going to.

MarshaBrady · 09/05/2014 07:41

Grumpy that sounds great. I remember a fab holiday in Miami, I loved the sun-bleached pastel colours everywhere. The J Crew dress sounds fab.

Dry the fact that I can only think of wedges and oversized coat (nearly out of season in the sale) makes me think I need to buy more stuff!

shopafrolic · 09/05/2014 07:55

Thanks Grumpy :)
Morning all. Aaaaah bodies. The poppers. I was 16, mine was white lace which I wore peeking out from under a denim shirt with jeans (yes I rocked double denim) and battered cowboy boots. My hair was cut eactly this short . I was obviously AMAZING.

shopafrolic · 09/05/2014 08:25

Bad grammar this morning. Apologies.
My hair was cut exactly this short. Tune!
That's better!

MarshaBrady · 09/05/2014 08:29

Ha Shop I bet. I didn't really suit the 80s. Too gangly no boobs, the 90s were more me. Grunge, vagued out and lots of free time for espresso . yep I blossomed in the 90s Grin

Ok question- which decade best suits you? Can be any one even if you weren't around yet.

MarshaBrady · 09/05/2014 08:29

And specifically I'm plumping for 1994-6.

LollipopViolet · 09/05/2014 08:53

No idea which decade suits me really. As a 90's child I rocked pedal pushers and Lily by Lily outfits Blush

Today I'm actually looking quite together. Ed Hunter t shirt, straight leg jeans, funky pink converse and I have my eyes all made up (dark green + black blended eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara)

Yeah, I look alright this morning. Shame about the big purple waterproof coat spoiling things a bit.

shopafrolic · 09/05/2014 09:24

Definitely the 90s. Happy Mondays, happy house music, happy Hacienda, mad nights out in Manchester. HAPPY (mainly drug induced)! Reaching for the lasers. Leather trousers, pony skin boots or platform shoes and wonder bras with no top under a suit jacket. Occasional single white glove thrown in! LOL.
