Anyone tried reverse hair washing?

My friend did it last night and says her hair feels amazingly soft. Apparently it's been all over the DM - I said to her I cannot believe nobody on MN has mentioned this! You condition before you shampoo and according to her, it's a hair revolution! Take a look...

That looks interesting. I might give it a go, though it feels counter intuitive.

Stinklebell · 04/04/2014 13:41

I saw this on AIBU this morning so gave it a go.

It feels horrible to touch - kind of rough, but it actually looks really nice, smooth and shiny

ILikeToClean · 04/04/2014 13:43

It does go against everything you know, but I am going to try it too.

Dd tried it this morning - I was sceptical, but her hair looks and feels bloody lovely!

MadameLeBean · 04/04/2014 15:28

Probably the same as just not using conditioner...

JokersGiggle · 04/04/2014 15:35

I'll try it tomorrow!

quirrelquarrel · 04/04/2014 15:56

I do that every time I wash my hair Grin I just do it because it's so fine, so it's really tangled by the time I wash it and the conditioner makes it easier to work the shampoo in.
I don't think it makes a huge difference in how it looks. But a couple of people recently told me that my hair looks healthy :) even tho when the sun hits it I can see all the split ends....oh dear, hairdresser phobia needing facing again!

JokersGiggle · 06/04/2014 02:06

Its amazing!Smile

MsAspreyDiamonds · 06/04/2014 03:53

I have always done this so am a bit amazed by the reaction it is getting. No doubt the salons will offer it & charge sn additional for it! Sorry for being cynical!

netty36 · 06/04/2014 04:20

Just tried it. My hair looks younger, shinier and bouncier and feels clean. I'm a convert. I have very thick, heavy

netty36 · 06/04/2014 04:21

Wavy hair and I probably over condition. I love the way it looks:) will keep doing this method.

BigRedApple · 06/04/2014 05:19

Yes! Been doing it for the last few weeks. It is amazing. Hair soft, shiny and doesn't get greasy as quickly. I have fine hair that needed washing every other day (at least). Now going 3 days between washes.

BigRedBall · 06/04/2014 05:24

Oooh I'm trying this this morning

FreeButtonBee · 06/04/2014 06:57

Tired it yesterday. I like. J have fine greasy hair that tangles easily. It seems to have given the conditioner time to work but allowed me to wash it out really well. Looked much nicer when roughly blow dried. Will report back at the end of day two.

HappyMedium · 06/04/2014 09:13

Will try later.

FrugalFashionista · 06/04/2014 10:41

Also tried today
I often skip conditioner as it tends to weigh down my hair. Good result today and definitely great volume but not sure that better than skipping conditioner altogether.

JapaneseMargaret · 06/04/2014 10:45

I did it this morning, and my hair looks great.

But I did a bit of googling, and long-term, apparently it's not that great for your hair and can really dry it out.

Beehatch · 06/04/2014 10:48

Is it much different to the no-poo method?

dexter73 · 06/04/2014 12:22

I tried it this morning and it has made my curly hair fluffy instead of curly. Will stick to shampoo and then conditioner as I think I need the conditioner on last to weigh my hair down a bit.

Patchouli · 06/04/2014 12:28

I think the same as MadameLeBean

Ememem84 · 06/04/2014 12:42

Just tried it. Wierdly hair dried quicker.

alemci · 06/04/2014 12:42

is it a pain though having to leave it on for 5 mins. I think i would wet hair over sink, condition and then have a shower 5 mins later. If you are in a rush it would be time consuming?

Thistles24 · 06/04/2014 13:18

I tried it and was left with a tangled mass of frizz. Maybe better on fine hair, but my thick hair def needs conditioner.

RayPurchase · 06/04/2014 13:23

I have long, fine hair and a greasy scalp - this should be a revelation for me! But it made no difference whatsoever.

Annianni · 06/04/2014 13:28

I'm doing it for the second time today.
(first time was Friday morning)

Yesterday my hair looked much better than it normally would, on day 2.

I have longish hair.
