Anyone tried reverse hair washing?

My friend did it last night and says her hair feels amazingly soft. Apparently it's been all over the DM - I said to her I cannot believe nobody on MN has mentioned this! You condition before you shampoo and according to her, it's a hair revolution! Take a look...

Nah, only 2-3 mins for me. I suppose I could use the time to shave my legs etc but I only have about 5 mins in the shower in total! But i do leave the conditioner longer than I normally do when washing/conditioning normally

PavlovtheCat · 06/04/2014 20:17

hmm. well. I had my hair washed, conditioned, washed, conditioned, washed by the children today while in the bath and it feels nice Wink is that sort of the same thing?

OddBoots · 10/04/2014 10:17

My hair felt ickier than normal today as I've been in London yesterday so I adapted and washed, conditioned and washed again with about 1/3rd of the shampoo I normally use. It's still drying but it does feel soft.

I've been doing it for nearly a week now.

Hair is nice, smoother, seems to have a bit more body, and I haven't had to wash it every day.

It's hard to remember to condition first when you're on autopilot in the shower though

HowAboutNo · 10/04/2014 10:54

This has really worked for me.

I usually have to wash my hair every other day (and even then it doesn't look great because ideally it needs a wash every day). I washed it Monday night and it's still not greasy today. Has had great body too.

Thanks for the tip

How does the conditioner stay on then if you shampoo afterwards. What good does the conditioner do?

For those who say it works, what about if you do not use conditioner at all in your next wash and see if there is a difference ...

DidoTheDodo · 10/04/2014 13:21

I tried it. I have thick, coarse shoulder length hair.
I can't say I noticed any difference at all, but I do the same technique with hair oil (and leave it longer) and it works.
I shan't bother doing it again with ordinary conditioner though.

ILikeToClean · 10/04/2014 18:23

Blueshoes - apparently it works because no matter how much you rinse conditioner it always leaves a film on your hair, if you use first then shampoo out you have conditioned without leaving the film. This is according to my friend! Not sure really, but I'm still doing it and my hair definitely looks flatter and smoother, normally the day I wash it it's really "big" as it's thick so it's working for me.

Tried it yesterday, it's definitely a no for my hair, it has looked flat dull and greasy all day and the ends are fly away.
