Anyone tried reverse hair washing?

My friend did it last night and says her hair feels amazingly soft. Apparently it's been all over the DM - I said to her I cannot believe nobody on MN has mentioned this! You condition before you shampoo and according to her, it's a hair revolution! Take a look...

2nd time doing it. It's fab! Did it on DD2s fine, long hair and it is so silky.

missmagnum · 06/04/2014 13:34

I think I need the weight of conditioner to help make it sleek, it went a bit fluffy when I tried it. I think its very dependant on hair type.

insancerre · 06/04/2014 13:36

i have fine straight hair and it feels a bit thicker after doing it this morning
it seemed to take longer to dry and felt a bit greasy after drying
it actually feels less greasy now a couple of hours later
will wait to see what it feels like tomorrow

rainbowfeet · 06/04/2014 13:37

Tried it yesterday... Did notice a small improvement in my hairs texture, but more manageable but nothing that a really expensive good quality shampoo & conditioner used the normal way round would produce.

HazleNutt · 06/04/2014 14:22

was very sceptical but tried this morning and I think it works for my hair (very fine and flat). Certainly has more volume, even though I simply let it air dry.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 06/04/2014 14:30

I was sceptical about it, but it worked for me too. My hair has far more body and doesn't go all limp by midday.

Koothrapanties · 06/04/2014 14:31

I did it for the second time today and it looks nice but is a bit staticky. It is shinier though.

HowAboutNo · 06/04/2014 14:34

Wish I'd seen this this morning! Will be trying over the next few days, really hate my flat roots. Hair needs a kick.

Marrow · 06/04/2014 14:40

I always do this for DD. She has very straight, fine hair that gets greasy very quickly. If I put conditioner on first her hair looks better and I can let her go two days between washes. If conditioner goes on last her hair looks greasy the following day.

rockybalboa · 06/04/2014 15:30

Tried it, didn't like it. I have quite fine hair but not 'too' fine. Went straight back to the normal method.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 06/04/2014 15:51

I have been doing this all my life, I didn't realise it was now a 'thing'

jumblebee · 06/04/2014 15:54

Tried it and my hair felt tatty and looked no different Hmmwas hard to get a brush through it afterwards, I must be doing it wrong Confused

glammanana · 06/04/2014 15:56

I'm going to try this to-morrow but am worried how it will effect my waist length hair will it break at all when combing through after the shampoo ? When I first saw the article I just skimmed through it thinking it was an April Fools wind up Hmm

JokersGiggle · 06/04/2014 16:18

I have long hair and its fine Smile

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/04/2014 16:19

My hair was lovely and shiny but felt lank by the end of the day.

ILikeToClean · 06/04/2014 16:31

Tried it this morning. Was very sceptical as my hair is thick and prone to frizz and I thought it probably works better on fine hair as conditioner weighs the hair down which my hair needs! But...my hair does feel silkier, looks smoother and flatter and weirdly dried quicker! I'll keep doing it this week and see what happens.

I do it, nice and shiny on day one but by the next morning it was really greasy, I usually wash every other day, so was a little bit Grrr.

FreeButtonBee · 06/04/2014 16:46

I brush the conditioner through with a tangle freezer in the shower. Then wash my face and then rinse conditioner and do two washes with shampoos. Day 2 hair is in good shape still. I think I might be a convert!

MrsBungle · 06/04/2014 16:48

I did oh today after reading this thread. My hair was more difficult to comb after i had towel dried it. I don't see any difference to be honest. I have quite fine hair but loads of it -and it's bleached to within an inch of it's life and needs conditioner

sublimecorpse · 06/04/2014 17:14

After dd's success with this method I thought I'd give it a try.

My hair is less frizzy, I have more volume at the roots, it's much softer and feels lighter somehow.

Wasn't tangly at all, left it to dry naturally and I'm really pleased with it Smile

LadyPenny · 06/04/2014 17:24

My hair is heavily highlighted and feels like wire wool before I put conditioner on so I was a bit sceptical. I decided to do wash, condition then wash. I combed through in the shower and it felt squeaky clean. After drying it was silky soft and has stayed cleaner longer.
I'm going to try conditioner first tomorrow.

stoopstofolly · 06/04/2014 17:27

Did it this morning- I've got thick, highlighted hair with a bit of a wave. It looks great- thicker and shinier. Let's see how long it lasts before I need to wash it!

MerlinFromCamelot · 06/04/2014 18:18

I sometimes use oil before washing and conditioning leave the oils to work in for 10 mins before washing it out. I often get complemented on how healthy my hair looks despite being in a chlorinated pool 3 times a week.

TeaAndALemonTart · 06/04/2014 18:21

Are you all leaving the conditioner on for 5 minutes?
