Skate shoe - skater shoe; both spellings are used but I think the one without r is more common

Hettie loving the ones you linked to!

Annianni · 02/04/2014 15:45

I've ordered the bargain leopard ones that 40 bum has.
I tried the m&s ones which are nice but big size wise.
And gap have some nice ones but they felt quite heavy.

I'm getting paid to advertise alsorts of brands on here
that's a joke obviously

Kudzugirl · 02/04/2014 15:49

Anni

A few of you are jumping to wild conclusions and i do not know why because nowhere in my post did I say that.

I said some PR and marketing companies that work with fashion brands and stores keep an eye on this thread (among others). How do I know this? Because I now write copy for some of them and I hear what they discuss. Some of you don't realise how influential MN is and how much product a recomm can shift.

So enough of the comments which are starting to come across as a little snarky- please?

noddyholder · 02/04/2014 15:55

Marks do them?

BeCool · 02/04/2014 15:58

it's not the 90's anymore Grin

FrugalFashionista · 02/04/2014 15:59

Do Boden do skate shoes Wink
They sure do now

Any true skater must be mortified when a bunch of mums are discussing their footwear choices... We of course use the word 'skater' because it sounds young, free and single Slip-on sounds like elasticated waist

Kudzugirl · 02/04/2014 16:08

If M&S are doing them, that ship must have passed.

Annianni · 02/04/2014 16:25

You mentioned the mnv thread Kudsugirl.
Is it any surprise when posters from there wonder what you're on about?

I can imagine brands watching s&b, but not that thread in particular.
I think there's only 2 people from mnv who have any connection to blogs/brands/freebies.

hollyangel · 02/04/2014 16:41

Annianni Just to back up what Kudsugirl has said, I dip in and out of all the threads in S&B, but would probably mostly click on the posts in the MNV thread, because I generally like the stuff you guys post. I definitely think you're v influential.

I also work in PR/Branding, so important for me to keep an eye on what's being said all over the internet. I read lots of fora, as I know other folk in my industry do too.

As we often discuss, so many blogs these days are given free product, that it's nice to read what actual people, even anonymous people, spend their own money on.

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2014 16:42

Interesting Holly. sob no freebies though.

Kudzugirl · 02/04/2014 16:44

I know I mentioned the thread. I also did make it clear that I was not talking about freebies and endorsements.

Despite my clarifying, the comments kept coming. That made me a bit Confused at to why that was.

shopafrolic · 02/04/2014 16:46

I'm gutted. I never knew so many people watched. Keeps fingers crossed for a Burberry trench Hmm

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2014 16:48

Geez all this time. All those links and not a snifter!

Kudzugirl · 02/04/2014 16:51

You never know Smile

As Foreigner said 'Don't stop believing'

hollyangel · 02/04/2014 16:52

Marsha I'd be very sad if you all started promoting brands! You'd need a disclaimer:

" This volume of MNV contains product placement and the posters were compensated for their contributions. As ever, their opinions are their own and will not be influenced by the free products and/or big fat cheque they received" !!

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2014 16:55

Haha Holly I know, it'll never happen. but if it DID I won't mention the light blue box at my doorstep, PM is just there

I know that marketing directors keep a keen eye out for their names on here (from a client). Not S&B just general

LordPalmerston · 02/04/2014 16:57

sniggers at fora

Love, love, love my Kurt Geiger leopard ones: www.kurtgeiger.com/laurel-multi-coloured-pony-41-carvela-kurt-geiger-shoe.html

Wearing them now with navy Gap super skinny surplus khakis: www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=1001059&vid=1&pid=000941851003

Don't care if they are called slip on trainers or skaters...I love 'em. I wouldn't have even tried them if I hadn't seen them on a couple of blogs as I don't really do flats, but this has opened up a whole new look for me.

Have got the Gap leopard ones too and two pairs of Top Shop High Vamp ones in the black and the burgundy.

Want these next: www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/shoes-430/flats-459/skaters-2722266/tika2-tropical-skaters-2810471?bi=1&ps=20

I am so sold on this trend but DH isn't. I think the phrase went something like 'What in God's name have you got on your feet?'

shopafrolic · 02/04/2014 17:03

Definitely man repellers then I'm gathering from this thread?

LordPalmerston · 02/04/2014 17:10

Sweaty feet. Ew.
