haha, I like your blog then princessdave. its on my saved pages. I wasn't mean or at least I don't feel I was. I always admire your running dedication and especially as your heavily pregnant now. I'm a runner too, but its a newish thing for me and only raced in race for life etc, plucking up courage to enter local half marathon next year.

(I'm a closet boden fan lol)

AnnabelleDarling · 02/04/2014 11:15

That's a shame PrincessDave, ebay it is!

Love your blog Smile

princessdave · 02/04/2014 11:16

God no you were not mean at all, it was just the shock of seeing my blog name crop up in a thread I was participating in! I wrote a post about the thread (without naming where I was reading it as I didn't want to lead certain blog friends there) but not posted it yet. The opinions were fascinating and real food for thought.

As for the half-mara - DO IT DO IT DO IT! I have my post-baby half booked already for 5th October and it's a chuffing hard one Grin

Vickiyumyum · 02/04/2014 11:24

gosh you are keen- I'd still be slobbing about post baby saggy tummy and eating cake that soon after birth Blush Good luck for the run.

Kudzugirl · 02/04/2014 11:28

That is the point!

I LIKE that fugly effect. I have size 8's and I don't always want to have pretty pretty girlie feet. I've been wearing shoes like this for years (bit pissed that all the bandwagon jumpers are, well, bandwagon jumping).

These shoes are practical, cool and don't buy into the modern day foot binding equivalent sold by so many stores.

Kudzugirl · 02/04/2014 11:29

Belinda

We kind of do have a MN 'style blog' - The MNV thread is pretty much it already and is attracting interest from brands and stores. I know Wink

princessdave · 02/04/2014 11:32

It's my local one so I wouldn't miss it. I had to miss the first one in 2011 as I was only 4 weeks post-birth so although I was back running I wasn't up to a hilly half. Mum gave me THE LOOK when I said I'd already signed up to this years race!

Sorry for the thread hi-jack all. Back to skate shoes....

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 02/04/2014 11:36

kudzu Smile

LucyBabs · 02/04/2014 11:37

I don't know what skate shoes are! Blush

Someone point me in the right direction, please? Smile

princessdave · 02/04/2014 11:41

Like these LucyBabs

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2014 11:42

They do. I like them however.

OBGynKenobi · 02/04/2014 11:43

What the?

Those are classed as 'skate shoes'?

They are just rip offs of the Vans slip ons that I thought the company brought out as a break into the non-skater/casual market.

Skate shoes to me are like this:

www.google.com.au/search?q=etnies+skate+shoes&client=tablet-android-samsung&hl=en-AU&source=android-browser-type&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=Q-g7U4TbKcyYkgXto4HYBg&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=600&bih=1024

And always will be.

'Skate shoes' indeed

(I may have been a 90s skater Wink)

princessdave · 02/04/2014 11:48

I assume this is the sort that the OP was referring to. The casual slip on things that a lot of bloggers have been buying of late. I agree with the 90s skate shoes, my sister used to wear those too. She loved Vans but rather ill advisedly got a baby blue pair with a yellow logo that were soon a murky grey Hmm

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2014 11:49

I got some in the NaP sale last year. I need to wash them now after wearing them on holiday and playing ball in the. Got to see if they can go in the washing machine.

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 02/04/2014 12:03

Ha ha Kenobi - DH was a proper skateboarder (I recognise those Etnies in the google link the likes of which I threw out not that long ago when DH wasn't looking) and didn't skate in leopard print slip ons. Tony Hawk will weep when he reads this thread Smile

Ujjayi · 02/04/2014 12:13

I have to say they are very fashion victim to me. They are a trend that many people will take up simply because they are being mooted as on trend by bloggers rather than because they suit their personal style.

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2014 12:15

I didn't see them on a blog before I bought them But I do like flat shoes and can't do sandals or converse, so it's pretty much ballerinas, pointed flats and thought I'd try these.

But agree not sure on their longevity.

Ujjayi · 02/04/2014 12:24

I've just re-read my post...my, didn't I sound prissy!! Sorry - wasn't supposed to sound so uppity Blush

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2014 12:25

Ah Ujj I know you're nice! Smile don't worry

Ujjayi · 02/04/2014 12:30

Shucks, thanks Marsha. Am feeling all sheepish now. I can only blame it on "I'm allowing myself 15 minutes on MN so need to get through as many posts as possible" and therefore not proof reading. I shall take my prissy-ass back to work now!

MarshaBrady · 02/04/2014 12:32

ha Ujj.

Also can't do brogues or trainers. So need some options.

bleedingheart · 02/04/2014 12:35

I like them. I have three pairs, two from Gap I bought last year and a Kurt Geiger pair I bought in February.

I dress in a boyish way most of the time so they suit me and I have 'strong' legs so my feet need to balance them out Grin

I have seen them on blogs a lot lately but I bought them because they were comfortable and went with boyfriend jeans. I wouldn't wear them with skinnies or I'd look like a poorly-formed golf club.

TheJumped · 02/04/2014 12:40

I don't like them and agree they can look fashion victim-y if they don't fit your style. I want to say it's ok to not buy every single 'it' item to some bloggers! Even Kat's ones only look ok because of the print. It's just a need for novelty after years of Converse, then wedge trainers and the ubiquitous New Balance.

I prefer flat espadrilles, of which there are plenty around this year. Comfy, flat, summery and narrower and more feminine than skater shoes. I got some fab bubblegum pink ones with Hawaian tree print from Pull and Bear with a decent rubber sole. I'm not doing boyfriend jeans either. Brogues are a yes here though

AWimbaWay · 02/04/2014 12:40

I also thought skate shoes were like those OBGynKenobi linked. I was thinking, Ooh, didn't know they were back in fashion, I had a northwave pair I loved as a student.

princessdave · 02/04/2014 12:48

ah yes theJumped those wedge trainers were something I could not get on board with. I like wearing trainers and I like wearing wedge heels but I could not fathom why I would need to combine the two personally so left well alone.

Totally in agreement about not needing to jump on every single trend, even if I could afford to (which I can't) where the hell do people keep all this stuff or it is eBayed off after a few blog posts?! I guess that kind of goes back to the Freebies thread as well, it's probably all sold on!
