kudzugirl I'm intrigued why you think the mumsnet vogue thread is attracting attention from stores and brands Confused. I'm a regular on there and as far as I'm aware none of us have ever been approached by anyone.

Twinklestein · 02/04/2014 13:01

I agree they're not skate shoes. They're slip on trainers no?

The last time they were in fashion was about 1984, they were horrible then, I won't be repeating that mistake.

shopafrolic · 02/04/2014 13:19

What QueenC said Kudzugirl.
I'm not a skate shoe lover but they look fab on some and I'm always a bit Envy as I bet they're super comfy.

noddyholder · 02/04/2014 13:43

I think if you want to try them get a cheapy pair from primark and try it out. They do look good on some people but are not cheap if you end up not wearing them

Kudzugirl · 02/04/2014 13:45

I meant the thread is watched by PR and marketing people. They do keep an eye on what is posted, what comments are made about brands, customer service etc and feed back to their clients.

I wasn't trying to imply that posters had been approached directly to endorse anything.

noddyholder · 02/04/2014 13:52

cheap to try them out Primark has no website but they have them too

impty · 02/04/2014 13:55

Just clicked that link, even make his boy feet look massive!

noddyholder · 02/04/2014 13:56

I have an old pair literally years old from when ds was about 12 and had my size feet but my feet are tiny and I still can't wear them! Like on others though but will be short lived so not worth spending ££ They are this years gladiator sandals

FrugalFashionista · 02/04/2014 13:56

I think H&M have a lovely pair of snakeprint slip-ons if anyone wants to test out the trend Wink

As for fashion victim status - let's take a recount in Sept Grin
Personally, after the tyranny of crippling stilettos and stripper shoes, I love seeing so many different types of flats backs in fashion - much more real life compatible!

noddyholder · 02/04/2014 13:58

I love flats I have worn my leopard trainers to death and really like them

Kudzugirl · 02/04/2014 13:58

I tripped the smog light fantastic in my kitten slingbacks today and had an argument with every damn grille, crack and hole in the pavement. They do not suit cash starved city streets!

Back to Flat- to paraphrase Amy.

LordPalmerston · 02/04/2014 14:44

Yes. No real skater wears them surely

OP posts:
noddyholder · 02/04/2014 15:02

hettie · 02/04/2014 15:05

I bought a pair moc-croc, but am scared of keeping them Blush partly becasue dh hates them calling them clumpy and gothy Hmm. But they are super comfy and clearly super cool.........This thread isn't helping me decide!

LordPalmerston · 02/04/2014 15:11

lordP Grin

Skater shoes are so not me, but then neither are Uggs,Crocs, wedge trainers, harem pants, black biker jackets ......

wrapsuperstar · 02/04/2014 15:24

I thought it was all about Adidas Stan Smiths this summer, which is why they can't be found at the moment for love nor money. Shows what I know.

I have size 4 feet (ok, 5s at the moment with pregnancy swelling) and they still look comedy huge in so-called skate shoes.

Kudzugirl · 02/04/2014 15:35

I didn't say that people were being approached.

BeCool · 02/04/2014 15:37

I was thinking of ice skating shoes - skate shoes? Confused

Surely the term for the ones you are all talking about are skateR shoes Grin

As a fan of fugly shoes (and someone who needs to wear flats) I'll keep an eye out

noddyholder · 02/04/2014 15:40

Ooh I have stan smiths (rummages under bed)

Thouneedsbedamned · 02/04/2014 15:41

OBGynKenobi I still wear Etnies. Comfiest trainers in existence.

DH and DS do too.

Kudzugirl · 02/04/2014 15:42

Actually, Gabrielle Chanel's whole style ethos was built around liberating women from the strictures of existing fashion, building in comfort and ease of movement through a reworking of the kind of leisure clothing men always enjoyed.

Not strictly true what you say LP Wink
