bigTillyMint · 22/03/2014 11:50

Am now in JL with the birthday boy who is scoffing down his slice of cheesecake! Had a successful trip to the apple shop to sort his ipad mini and bought him a new pair of "school" shoes - apparently they are allowed!

herbaceous · 22/03/2014 11:53

Ah yes Addle, was going to ask about the perfume exchange. I'll need to tattoo it on to the inside of my eyelids to ensure I don't forget!

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 22/03/2014 11:55

I have posted my question to Miss Piggy. Grin

Blimey. As my good friend would say, "Well it's a look... but not a good one."

Now back home after a good win at the football, we enjoyed our JL hot chocolate and carrot cake (haven't seen cheese cake, unfortunately). If I had been drinking I would have said that I had had too much alcohol, instead it's too many painkillers, feeling slightly addled (sorry, Addle).

Auriga · 22/03/2014 22:57

Just watched the Ang Lee Sense and Sensibility with DD. I've told her if she's ever dangerously ill with an infectious fever, she should send Alan Rickman to fetch me Grin

Blackduck · 23/03/2014 10:29

Auriga :)

I had tag relay on ds's friends yesterday - one would leave as another arrived....
Quiet one today - tidying up and cleaning.

bigTillyMint · 23/03/2014 10:49

All went well with DS's birthday yesterday (despite Brit Rail's best attempts to scupper them getting to footy match!) - ended up in Wong Kei's as TGIF's had a wait time of an hour and a half and they were all staaaarving!

Quiet day today - am going to try out my new pressure washer on the garden shed and patio!

motherinferior · 23/03/2014 11:26

I am averting my eyes from the state of the house...

herbaceous · 23/03/2014 11:47

WEEP. Having spent a week fine-tuning my personal statement for the PGCE, I seem to have deleted it. I must have highlighted it to count the words, and pressed space, or similar. Then DS, who's had it drummed into him to always 'save' stuff he finds on the computer, saved it. I can't think of any way to recover it. So will have to start again. FARK.

ALSO we didn't win the quiz night. We had done so for the past two years, so expectations were high and my competitive spirit was in overdrive. But a few wrong answers from the most assertive person on the team, and a badly played joker saw us languishing in the 'mediocre' area of the league.

AND it's our park spring clean day today. I have made brownies. Arranged litter pickers and bags. And now it's going to piss down.

motherinferior · 23/03/2014 12:16

Oh HerbsSadSad

NUFC69 · 23/03/2014 12:25

Oh dear, Herbs. So sorry to hear about your problems with the wretched computer. I hope the weather improves for you: it's quite pleasant here.

DH has just gone to Waitrose to buy some odds and ends as DS and DGD1 are coming to eat with us at 5.30 so I will need to make a pudding.

herbaceous · 23/03/2014 12:28

I think it was the powercut we had last night. It has also wiped out the carefully made InDesign poster I now have to recreate. FARCK'S SAKE.

Blackduck · 23/03/2014 12:57

Herbs I find when such things happen what I end up writing is so much better (trying to be consoling - feel free to tell me to sod off)

CointreauVersial · 23/03/2014 13:00

What a pain, Herbs, although you'll probably find much of your personal statement has been unwittingly committed to memory (the flesh and blood variety, rather than the silicon one), and you'll probably end up with a much more concise version once you re-do it.

Weather is odd today, isn't it? Sunshine, hail, sunshine, rain......

DS has spent much of the last couple of days on Minecraft (having not been near it for many months). He built/crafted/bred himself a horse, and has named it Hoof Hearted. Probably an old joke, but I have been sniggering childishly about it all morning. Grin

herbaceous · 23/03/2014 13:22

Thank you consoling crepeys. I'm hoping that indeed, the whole v2 comes flooding out in an erudite stream of consciousness. It was beginning to get overworked anyway...

DP seeing his dad today, who is now out of hospital. Macmillan nurses are there, apparently. Cheery.

bigTillyMint · 23/03/2014 13:28

Oh no Herbs! SadAngry

I'm in love with our new pressure washerBlush But I can't really try it out properly as DH has put some grass seed on the "lawn." Should do some more planting instead...

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 23/03/2014 15:07

We have got LoveFilm via Amazon Prime and I am going square eyed. Grin

We had a huge, late brunch, watched a film and I have made a cake. DD1 went back to school early for some club (have hardly seen her this weekend - she went out yesterday late morning and came back at 9.00 last night). Cats are sprawled asleep (as is DH) and DD2 is playing Minecraft with her BFF in Houston.

Herbs - sorry about your computer. My work one did this to me last week as I was putting the finishing touches to a speech I'd been slaving over. Despite the laptop being set to autosave every five minutes, it lost all but the first paragraph of the speech and I had to rewrite the whole damn thing. Helpdesk were less than useless.

DD2 is refusing point blank to be measured for a new bra, and is wearing her sister's cast offs which are too big in the back. A traumatic session at JL finished her off. I am going to try bribery and Bravissimo next weekend.

hattymattie · 23/03/2014 15:20

HerbsSad we had a similar incident with DD1's uni personal statement which she had spent two hours typing - the resulting meltdown was not pretty. Meanwhile, DS took some really horrid photo's of me lolling on the sofa and they have gone onto auto backup and I cannot delete them. DH said they must be in the "cloud". Thanks DH[hmm.

I have ordered House of Cards as am feeling the lack of a good political thriller and everybody says it is excellent.
