Amazing Grace reminds me of Persil. Not, necessarily, in a bad way!

Oh, I absolutely agree that Aqua Vitae isn't that original, but, after talking to Francis, I realise that it's not actually meant to be. Hard to explain. It's meant to smell like memories of people, and for me it does. I like his clean smells too, but agree that they are HELLA overpriced! When you smell Aqua Universalis and Absolue pour le Soir side by side though, it's hard to believe they were created by the same person. One so clean and one so ... filthy.

If I only had to wear perfumes created by one house ever again, I'd had a hard time deciding between Guerlain and Maison Francis Kurkdjan, I have to admit.

canny1234 · 28/04/2014 20:50

Nose,Onelittlelady.Do the perfume profile first though and get 5 samples for 10 Euros.Sorry, someone's just pipped you to the post there!
Arsepaste my sample is Aqua Universalis ( I was mistaken).I resprayed it today and I love it ( but used up nearly all my Nose sample).I much prefer it to Creeds Love in White ( which was another Nose one sent to me).Which other Kurkdjan perfumes do you recommend? Is the best place for samples their own website?

OneLittleLady · 28/04/2014 20:57

Will try out Nose Canny thanks for the recommendation Smile

Dunwhingin · 28/04/2014 23:37

Elizabeth Arden sunflowers!
And no, it is not going to make a reappearance lol

ScienceRocks · 29/04/2014 09:19

I quite like sunflowers BlushSmile Nothing wrong with revisiting old smells, I have recently got back into two smells from my teens - ananya by the body shop and ysatis by Givenchy - and I still really like them!

wiltingfast · 29/04/2014 09:29

I like sunflowers too! Have a fb as a matter of fact though in practice I find it hard enough to wear as it tends to give me a bit of a headache after a while.

sotd *cuir de russie" mmmmmmm Grin

CuntBiscuit · 29/04/2014 10:30

I'm wearing Calyx today after talking about it yesterday!

FuzzLightbeard · 29/04/2014 13:32

I used to love Sunflowers, I remember it was very strong. I really enjoy revisiting old scents, I'm tempted to get a bottle of Loulou for old times sake.

Well yesterday I totally fell head over heels in love with Chypre Mousse, definitely worthy of a full bottle. Oriza L. Legrand does a lovely sample set- even with shipping it only came to about £13 so I would thoroughly recommend.

OLL I've had some samples from Bloom recently, most are £2 with free shipping Smile

SOTD is Siwa by Memo, a vanillary powder puff with yellow flowers.

MyrtleDove · 29/04/2014 13:45

I like big oriental and floriental stinkbombs (Shalimar, Cinnabar, Opium, want to try EL Knowing and the other 70s/80s EL frags). What's a good lighter perfume that's less intense? I like Lust by Lush (jasmine is good on me) but after something less floral. Cannot do aldehydes, they make florals smell so wrong on my skin. My skin amplifies sweetness and spice, florals go purely powdery (and nothing else) easily on me. Have tried Chanel No19 on me and like it OK, but it's just quite one-dimensional on me. I think it's my skin, not the perfume! Big complex florals just get turned into powder and a bit of musk on me :(

wiltingfast · 29/04/2014 13:54

Have you tried the Edt and the EdP? They are quite different.

Otherwise, balenciaga do lovely clean florals with no aldehydes.

I found 2 orientals recently that I really like (and am usually an aldehyde type) datura noir by serge lutens and a perfume called pc01...

wiltingfast · 29/04/2014 13:56

Sorry! Just pulled the sample out of my bag to spray and it's actually pc02! Blush

By biehls.

ScienceRocks · 29/04/2014 14:00

Myrtle you might like Shazam and A Kiss By The Fireside by 4160 Tuesdays. You can buy samples here

MyrtleDove · 29/04/2014 14:09

Thank you!

I think I tried the EDT of Chanel No19, will try the EDP

I just remembered that I like Elie Saab EDP and EDT, and JPG Classique. Any suggestions for a less sweet, greener but still orange blossom/rosey version of those? Maybe a bit grapefruity? Chanel Mademoiselle seems to fit well but that's what my mum wears!

canny1234 · 29/04/2014 14:23

How is it I can barely smell 'In Love Again' by Ysl.I've just sprayed myself with the bottle I bought off EBay and the scent only seems to last for 5 minutes. Then sprayed myself with the vintage vial to check out the difference, only to smell virtually nothing.I used to love this perfume - a fruity floral that stood out.

ScienceRocks · 29/04/2014 14:27

Try another day canny. That happened to me with So Nude recently, yet when I tried on another occasion, it was immediate and lovely!

Myrtle have you looked on Fragrantica? You can put in perfumes you like and a list of similar come up. Might be worth a go. You could also try Nose. Put in three fragrances you love and it will make suggestions. You can also buy samples of the recommendations quite reasonably.

MyrtleDove · 29/04/2014 14:42

Yes, I'm a Fragrantica member! I'm struggling to find an aldehyde-free match. Might try Bulgari Thé Rouge.

OneLittleLady · 29/04/2014 15:35

has anyone heard of cyclades by lancome?i got a bottle of it today for grand total of £3.75 Grin

canny1234 · 29/04/2014 16:08

Will do Science.I'm mowing the lawn ( and also have hay fever) so maybe thats why!Myrtle I would also recommend Nose.I'm on my third set of recommended samples from the perfume profile.I've been sent some perfumes I would never have dreamed of trying and have found 4 I really like.I really do get excited when I receive my mini package ( saddo).Well done One!

MyrtleDove · 29/04/2014 16:19

What shipping option do you use for Nose? I've got my sample set in the cart, but I don't want to pay 30 euros shipping for a 10 euro sample set Confused

MyrtleDove · 29/04/2014 16:20

My samples are:
Miller Harris, Fleur Oriental
Etat Libre d'Orange, Divin Enfant
Kilian, Sweet Redemption
Odin, 11 Semma
Odin, 03 Century

wiltingfast · 29/04/2014 17:37

God myrtle shipping was only 1.17 or something for me? Not sure which option I selected. Just regular post anyway.

ScienceRocks · 29/04/2014 17:37

Myrtle, there's a shipping option that is about 1-2 euros. You'd think it was only for France but it isn't! So just choose the cheapest one and it'll be fine.

Lovely sounding samples, by the way.

Liz earle botanicals 100 for me today. Dd2 (aged 4) has told me I smell of beautiful flowers and can't stop sniffing me Smile

MyrtleDove · 29/04/2014 17:38

Ahh yes that's there, it's just for something weighing 150g or less and I wasn't sure if it was small enough. I did Grin at the idea of heading to Paris to pick the parcel up!

CuntBiscuit · 30/04/2014 09:01

Wearing Antiheros by Etat Libre d'Orange at the moment, I love this skanky lavender.

canny1234 · 30/04/2014 13:24

I've just ordered 8 samples from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. They don't seem to charge postage so I wonder how long they will take. The samples are 2 mls so are bigger than the Nose ones and seem better value.
I can smell today!SOTD In Love Again.Just love the initial burst of grapefruit and blackcurrant - so refreshing.Seems to rapidly fade though and the longevity is short.Just to test it I sprayed it on my 9 year olds wrist and it was a skin scent after an hour.Someone has commented that new Nu is nothing like the original - this is part of the same La group of reissued scents as Nu.I wonder if they all have this problem.
