SOTD is Private Collection, I always enjoy this in early spring when it is bright but still cool. I have all the windows open while doing a blitz with the vacuum cleaner and this perfume is making the cleaning a little more bearable.

Apatite1 · 09/03/2014 16:04

Yes, frugal I know! Unfortunately we are looking to move away for work so I am sure to miss it sob, sob!

I like your housework style cosikitty! I keep forgetting to smell the tuberose gardenia one, despite wanting to for months now.

NearTheWindymill · 09/03/2014 16:12

That looks lovely apatite I'll give it a go.

Housewife2010 · 09/03/2014 17:42

Hello Ladies
SOTD is Martin Maison Margeiela's Lazy Sunday Morning. I'd been interested in it for a while & received my STC sample this week. It's nice, but I don't find it memorable & rather disappointing after yesterday's SL Jeaux de Peau which had me obsessively sniffing my wrist all day (& night!)
What do you think of CB I Hate Perfume? I got lots of samples from Cult Beauty last Summer, but none of them have impressed me so far.

teta · 09/03/2014 19:32

SOTD is 4160 Tuesdays Havana.Coffee, sugar and over ripe fruit ( smells like a Hong Kong market with undertones of Durian according to Dd2).I don't dislike it but would never wear it myself.I think it would smell nice on a certain type of male.

teta · 09/03/2014 19:38

I ladore the smell of mimosa.Currently have a jug of blue and white Hyacinths, buttery yellow and pink parrot tulips with white Ranunculus on the kitchen table ( love the smell of hyacinth plus tulip).

coffeeinbed · 09/03/2014 20:03

I dug out my Naked Honey for tomorrow.
Hope it hasn't turned during the winter months.

coffeeinbed · 09/03/2014 20:05

I love mimosa, but not hyacinths.
They are too much, too heady and too chatty for me in a way.

fiestabelle · 09/03/2014 20:29

Have loved reading through these threads but am still a complete novice. I love J'adore, SJP Lovely, Elizabeth Arden 5th Avenue, Miracle, Allure, think they all have a similar feel, any ideas what else I might like?

Stokey · 09/03/2014 20:34

Very informative article Frugal, I didn't really know what Mimosa was and now realise I have it growing on the enormous Acacia tree in my garden. Was thinking how lovely the garden smelt when we were outside this weekend, that was probably it!

Will be cutting some tomorrow to have a proper smell, it's been flowering for about 3 weeks. So thanks for teaching me something new Thanks

Tweet2tweet · 09/03/2014 21:03

I smelt Chanel Coromandel recently, I loved it. I wish I could afford it! Maybe I will save up as a Christmas present to myself at the end of the year! Does anyone know any similar, less ££ perfumes?

teta · 09/03/2014 21:25

You can order a large decant from Surrender To Chance - say 15 mls or more

FrugalFashionista · 09/03/2014 22:06

Stokey yes mimosa in perfumery is acacia - that's why acacia honey has that delicious particular flavor too. Caron's Farnesiana borrows its name from 'Acacia farnesiana' actually - the name has lots of other connotations too in Rome. (They were an important papal family and their palaces are all over the city.)

I remember receiving real mimosas, the different type that is touch-sensitive, from visitors back as a child in the 1970s and early 1980s, after that they disappeared from flower shops. Or maybe people just stopped visiting and bringing flowers....

Tweet Coromandel decants are also often sold on Crystal Flacon, use the search function, you might even find a UK supplier. Worth checking eBay too.

Can someone help Fiestabelle. I'm not even sure what J'Adore smells like these days... Wink

A Kiss By the Fireside from Tuesdays for me today. I love this, it is definitely my favourite so far. It is not for the faint hearted, it is woody, smoky and warm, and quite masculine, but it seems to suit my skin and I can't stop sniffing!

I am a little sad that the Lyn Harris perfumes are being discontinued by M&S. I hope I haven't left it too late to get a bottle of La Fleur for my mum.

I love the smell of mimosa. In fact, I love most garden smells. My tiny garden is jam packed with shrubs and flowers that smell - the armundii (I have no idea if that is how it is spelt) is currently glorious and I get a waft of almonds as I brush past it. I look forward to the honeysuckle later this year and the lavender and roses. My favourite flowers are also those that are fragranced - scented stocks, lilies (lily of the valley as well), hyacinths... happy days!

Tweet2tweet · 10/03/2014 12:12

Thank you for tips!

OneLittleLady · 10/03/2014 12:15

SOTD is Ghost original. Reminds me of being about 17 as it was what I wore most then. I moved on to Ghost Deep Nights soon after but this one still has a place in my heart.

Apatite1 · 10/03/2014 12:18

Fiestabelle

Try Narciso Rodriguez for her, Guerlain L'instant, Marc Jacobs daisy and Chanel coco mademoiselle.

Apatite1 · 10/03/2014 12:19

SOTD is Ninfeo Mio.

teta · 10/03/2014 12:29

I also try to grow as many scented flowers as possible.I'm planting pots of scented Peacock Orchids,Gladioli and Iris for the school spring fair sitting on the patio steps in the sun ( next to a gorgeous smelling Winter Honeysuckle)
I think thats the only one I haven't tried yet Science. My favourite so far is the delicious Urara's Tokyo Cafe.SOTD is Yves Saint Laurents In Love Again.Pleasure Tweet2tweet.

MissBattleaxe · 10/03/2014 12:48

Fiestabelle- it sounds like you have a thing for light florals. J'Adore is very tuberose/white flowers.

If you want more of the same, might I suggest Estee Lauder Private Collection Tuberose and Gardenia? It is superb. I sprayed some on my coat sleeve and it stayed put for a week, smelling gorgeous.

The best and lightest mainstream floral that I have tried lately is Especially Escada Delicate Notes. It smells as light as the lightest petals and is so feminine.

I can also recommend Yves Rocher. Although its mail order only in the UK, they always send you three samples. You might like Moment de Bonheur- it's so pretty I bought a full bottle after trying it. It is perfect for summer and a light floral. It's only about £14 a bottle and you may as well chuck in some of their botanical perfumes as well: Honeysuckle, Lilac, verbena or Rose.

cosikitty · 10/03/2014 12:51

I think you seem to like quite heavy florientals Fiesta .
Amouage jubilation 25 is gorgeous!
Elie Saab is also a warm floral.
Jasmin Noir by bvulgari is quite nice,
Chloe Love is very pretty and heavily floral.
Songes by Annick Goutal

It's a big group so there are loads of others you could choose. Try searching Fragrantica for similar ones to your favourites.

FuzzLightbeard · 10/03/2014 13:09

I would love some scented flowers in my garden but I'm a terrible gardener. I love sweet peas and wallflowers in the summer, maybe I'll give those a go this year. Loving the daffs out everywhere at the moment, and where I live the sheep roam free so lots of cute fluffy lambs as well!

SOTD is Mure et Musc, Mondays is toddler group so perfume needs be light if at all.

Fiestabelle lots of great suggestions already, but if you like J'adore and Allure then Hermes 24 Faubourg is worth a try (Debenhams normally have it.) Also L'Occitane for light, daytime florals and Fragonard at M&S has lots to explore.

Housewife2010 · 10/03/2014 13:19

Hello
I'd just like to point out that since Ebay clamped down on decant selling, I've noticed this weekend that some of the sellers have been selling off their stock of partial bottles. It might be worth taking a look if there's something you're after.

coffeeinbed · 10/03/2014 13:26

SOTD MAC Naked Honey, as planned.
I don't wear it ofter enough.
Pretty honeyed floral. Sweet linden blossom and some white flowers.

wiltingfast · 10/03/2014 13:27

Gosh I feel quite dull, my SOTD is chanel 19 EdP, v mainstream!

Tweet2tweet, I recently took part in a split of a fb with a perfume group on fb that I found on crystal flacon. I paid about 48 for 30mls of Cuir de Russie inc postage. I know they are trying to fill the last 30mls of Coromandel at the moment, pm me if you are interested and I'll send you the details. It came from the States but I was not charged customs (to Ireland).

Thanks for the tip about the Lyn Harris perfumes catfromjapan, I might go and buy the Cologne and La Sauvage before it is too late... Never heard of Shay & Blue, I wonder will they turn up in the Irish branches ?

apatite I love Ninfeo Mio! What do you think of it? It is yet another one on my fb list....
