Good luck Cremo - fingers crossed!!!

beachyhead · 24/02/2014 08:36

Good luck Crem and Addle. Are you still sporting your patch? If so, I challenge you to drop 'pieces of eight' into one of your answers Grin

herbaceous · 24/02/2014 09:25

I have awoken to some kind of bowel issue, making getting DS to school akin to Russian Roulette. But it shall not stop me having my day out. Immodium will see me through.

Or, maybe I should have a day at home today, planting bulbs, doing cleaning, then go out tomorrow when it's going to be raining. Hmmm...

herbaceous · 24/02/2014 09:52

Oh God. DP's dad, who's been in and out of hospital recently with kidney and liver problems, has now been diagnosed with secondary bone cancer. He had prostate cancer a few years ago. From googling, this doesn't look good.

Stropperella · 24/02/2014 10:22

Oh dear Herbs. :(

lalsy · 24/02/2014 10:43

Oh herbs Sad. That s horrible news to get.

Crem and addle, really good luck. Shiver those timbers!

Stropps, it is lovely having a one to one jaunt...I had a great trip with dd at the start of half term.

GPs....my dc have both GMs and both are sprightly and nice to them, even if the other relationships not always straightforward. My df died before they were born and dh's while I was pg with ds, so although he did meet dd as a toddler, she doesn't remember it (probably as well as he was not in good shape by then). They are both very fond of my dm's dp (is anyone still with me?) though.

Blackduck · 24/02/2014 10:56

Oh Herbs :(

Maybe they can do something? Dp's sister is having chemo and it seems to be working.....

cremolafoam · 24/02/2014 14:36

Ah herbs that doesn't sound good . So sorry to hear that. Your dp must be shaken . Thanks Sad

Well had the interview. I don't thin live ever been so sodding nervous ; and to what end. ?? All the swotting helped as I had good answers ready for what were actually a disappointing ly dull bunch if questions. One of the panel yawned throughout despite me being at my sparkly charismatic best.
Pah. Think its a fit up and they've already got someone. No surprises there. Biscuit

Oh dear HerbsSad

Cremo, how very could they yawn at you? With the eyepatch and everythingSmile Whatever will be will be - you did your bestSmile

Addle, good luck for tomorrow!

Well, survived the first day back - still feeling immensely tired - think my skiing trip aged me by about 10 years!

herbaceous · 24/02/2014 16:34

Turns out its not his bones but his liver that its spread to. I suspect this is worse. Won't know the whole story until the end of the week. Is it just me, or is it outrageous that consultants don't work weekends, so everything from test results to vital operations have to wait until they can tear themselves away from the golf course? Lowlife types have to work nights and weekends, so why can't they?

Day off rather overshadowed by this news, but still restorative. Even bought myself a nice, and cheap, pair of earrings in Oliver Bonas.

bigTillyMint · 24/02/2014 16:52

Oh Herbs, fingers crossed it's not worse.

Glad you had a restorative day. I need oneSmile

motherinferior · 24/02/2014 17:34

Oh Herbs. I am so sorry.

Bstard yawners, Crem.

No news on cat yet, btw.

NUFC69 · 24/02/2014 17:47

Sorry to hear your news, Herbs. Liver is not good, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. On the subject of hospitals, DH this morning actually had the follow up letter from his endoscopy in mid January so we now know there are no nasties, but he is still having the pains and after over a week of trying has an appointment with the gp tomorrow afternoon. His care (or lack of it) has been awful.

Sorry about the interview, Crem - they don't deserve you.

cremolafoam · 24/02/2014 20:33

Yep it was a slam dunk fit up. Angry

A current much less experienced employee got the post. Just got an email from them ( "thankyou for attending with us today ") bleurgh appalling English notwithstanding , and a heads up on the bush telegraph from a friend who works there occasionally. Pah! And to think I could have given them my head on a stick.

I'd come for a boozy lunch like a shot Cremo (I so want to meet you!!!) on which not - date of crepey meet up??
Any chance (if not scary expensive) of some kind of private space where we can mingle? And more on ( kind of someone's living room? - I'd offer mine but I'm miles away from anyone) - do you guys know what I mean? (Random waffle :) )

Blackduck · 24/02/2014 20:50

Feck that post is littered with errors but hopefully the sense is there!

cremolafoam · 24/02/2014 21:08

We could book a private dining area. The one I had at Le Coq in Highbury was food, tho I seem to recall had a minimum spend.

I cannot sit for one second without being sat on by the cat. Hinders typing, somewhat.

beachyhead · 25/02/2014 07:44

I guess we should be looking at a date during March. Are we still aiming for a Friday night or would anyone like a Saturday lunchtime? We could shop after wine.Smile Always bound to result in some style and beauty wonders!
Anyone fancy 28th or 29th march?

bigTillyMint · 25/02/2014 07:51

28th would be good for me! And/or Sat 29th lunchtimeWink

Blackduck · 25/02/2014 08:25

Both okay with me at the moment!

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/02/2014 08:36

Sorry to hear about DP's Dad Herbs. Fingers crossed and thumbs held here.

I see it is raining yet again.

I will offer my living room when it looks less like a squat, and will feed you all curry. But not in March, because I suspect that little progress will have been made on the flat by then.

I hate my job. Really, really hate it. Had a crap afternoon yesterday when I got accused of not doing all sorts of stuff. Stuff I hadn't been asked to do, and stuff a colleague had insisted on taking on, because she had worked all weekend and done her part. I stood my ground (I can be quite intimidating, I am told) and at the end, the complaint was reduced to "not managing to get some information on one page, as I was asked." I had to "learn from this" and "make sure I didn't do it again." I suppose I had better schlep my sorry ass into the office and see what delights today has in store for me.

bigTillyMint · 25/02/2014 08:55

Oh MrsS, not againSad

herbaceous · 25/02/2014 09:19

By Christ Mrs S, you've really had some utter cockthistles for bosses haven't you. Are there kindred spirits at work with whom you can share you thoughts? Ie bitch in the kitchen?
