I can see my pin on mnv, can anyone else?

Thanks Blair it's on Tuesday, but we are celebrating this weekend.

Has been fabulous I must say!

I don't think I can do bomber jackets as I need a collar.

Mignonette · 26/01/2014 14:27

Hello Blair lovely to meet you.

We have chosen to not dress today in honour of the absolutely grim weather. So I have put on fresh PJ's- old navy self stripe Bodas worn with a striped navy and cream long sleeve Uniqlo top, leopard fleece dressing gown and old Christmas socks with reindeer on. Very not coordinated! I don't flit about in wisps of lace and slivers of satin, no Cosabella for me. I do own some rocking undies but loungewear for me has to be substantial.

Have just had cheese and spring onion omelette and am now going to try to finish the book I am reviewing (fat chance). DH is watching endless reruns of 'Big Bang Theory'.

AmberNectarine · 26/01/2014 14:52

I love Leigh Lezark. A style icon of mine.

I saw a fab blue floral bomber in gap (sounds awful but was cool) today which I might try when the next 30% rolls round.

RubyLovesShopping · 26/01/2014 15:00

Yes Marsha I can see it but can't get onto matches site to see price, how much?
Am freezing today, wearing cashmere boyfriend cardigan, long sleeved t, hush harems and my new slippers which are v warm (on pin!).
Happy bday to shop's ds!

MarshaBrady · 26/01/2014 15:06

Half price so £76. I really wanted the US9 and could have got them, but dh made me falter and then ended up paying more from ShopBop. Lesson learned!

BrandyAlexander · 26/01/2014 15:28

Hello! Happy birthday Mini Shop!

Amber, are you doing road running or gym running?

It's day 2 of THE BIG TIDY! Absolutely knackered but making more in roads into it. I haven't been to the gym for a few days but cleaning this beast of a house is good exercise!

RubyLovesShopping · 26/01/2014 15:28

That's a good price. Am trying not to do any more spending this month, all I have bought are slippers! The johnnieB Bretons have gone back.
May also try not to buy anything next month too. Then by march I'll feel more like looking at s/s.

MarshaBrady · 26/01/2014 15:31

Me too Ruby. I'm glad I'm about to go where the online sites do not shine. (But the sun does Grin).

OneLittleLady · 26/01/2014 15:32

new pin pic up for views. you know where

justasecond · 26/01/2014 15:51

Hello everyone. Happy birthday MrMarsha!
I feel all strange as I had a normal coffee this morning and am not used to caffeine, gave it up about 12 years ago. Have come over all jittery and nervous.
If you have a min please can I have your opinion on biker boots over on Pin?

Fedupnagging · 26/01/2014 16:15

Mig nice to see you back- I always like your links. We used to spend all weekend watching the ds's play football and rugby (now its just football on a Sunday am) so have rather a lot of thermals- the best being silk thermals from Landsend. Oh and a rather fetching almost floor length duvet coat!

I didn't get to Liberty's yesterday Sad but en route to the covent garden hotel slipped into Aldo and got these and these cheapies. Am feeling very pleased with myself.

Mignonette · 26/01/2014 18:05

Hi there Fedup

Love the Gucci esque snaffle on those boots and good to see Burgundy too. Always a less common choice and one I particularly like. I have a pair of Wrangler dark red heeled ankle boots in a lovely 'bruised' leather. They are the second pair on the same style that i have brought over the last fourteen years but they style has now been discontinued so I have to ration them out per wear. I'll be sad when they finally die.

I''ll have a look for those Lands End thermals. I am very fidgety with my clothes and don't cope well with lots of layers so something very skin-close and unlikely to ride up is what I am looking for. I do have a perverse (because they are bulky) love of Damart style brushed cotton thermals in that pretty fabric. A bit like this as the fuzziness of them is so lovely...

Am looking at lovely soft pastels worn with metallics at the moment. Kinder to the complexion especially in harsh Winter light. I love the Teddy Bear coats worn with a silver metallic A line skirt and pastel blue sweater. Very pastel beat girl. These shoes maybe with a chunkier heel perhaps? I love this so much but have so many coats that I don't wear (cream cashmere anyone?) and I suspect this style will date so very quickly. I cannot bring myself to spend on really transient items even though the coat isn't mega bucks - not like my adored Miu Miu lovely coat

Question to contemplate?

What transient/ 'disposable' items do you not mind buying even though you know they may date pretty fast?

I'm not too hung up on 'following fashion' per se and if I like something I will continue to wear it (plaid/stripes/A line skirts/pea coats/ cigarette pants spring to mind as items I'll always wear) but some things really age. These new pant shapes I think will date as fast as Cameo's baggy pants did in the 80's!

Mignonette · 26/01/2014 18:14

Tory Burch cuteness. And I have ordered this Tucker skirt which will be perfect for summer with this Joseph tank to go with it. I love sky and powder blue w/ camel and leopard.

Umlauf · 26/01/2014 18:54

Sorry marsha I thought if replied earlier but my comment isn't up! I'm a UK6 but thanks for spotting them, they are a bargain for any 7s out there! I really covet the black leather ones as I have the spirals in cognac suede and Chelsea boots in pale brown, my black boots are heeled and I can't walk in heels

Signed DS up for school in September Shock he has to wear a tiny uniform!

Good question mig rayban wayfarers perhaps? "Over" now but I love how they suit my face shape. I wouldn't buy skinny jeans for ages because I was convinced they'd be a flash in the pan and unflattering and my first few pairs were from primark. Now I've finally shelled out on good ones, it looks like they won't be around much longer, but mine are so flattering and well made I'll keep wearing them regardless. I think most things come back around though and I try not to go too far out with things, so my bomber jacket for example is still a classic Aquascutum one rather than a full on pink ladies style. It's on its third revolution I think, as my granny originally bought it in the early seventies!

LinusDKD · 26/01/2014 18:55

mig I really like this look (photo was in the NaP e-mail I received today)
But I think these culottes are very hard to pull of for us mere mortals and will date quickly.

I do buy things that I think suit me and don't care if they are fashionable or not. I even hesitate to buy things that are 'in fashion' because I don't like the fact that everyone is wearing them.

So I often buy them seasons/years later if I really like them. Grin

Evening all. Fab day browsing. I sent a post live from H Nics but it didn't come on! I met my bag and she winked at me later in Flannels. It's love, LOVE ! She will be mine. Absolutely gorgeous.

Also saw these shoes that I'm considering for Ascot I know what you're going to say Grumpy really wanted to hate them because they have synthetic uppers Shock but they are beautiful. Damm.
Saw some of thesedress I like the digital prints a lot.....would never wear them though.
Amber saw your J Choo bikers...v nice.
And this Marant jacket....someone bought it, lovely too.

Flannels have some seriously lovely stuff at serious prices and it was just fantastic being surrounded by lux and quality.

No purchases!!!!

Linus i had culottes in mind when I was writing that. I like VB in them but hers were photographed side on and looked more like to the knee city shorts. I wore brown cire cotton culottes in the 70's...I know, I know...Just those words 'brown+cire+culotte = total and epic fashion fail. I looked like a reject Freemans catalogue model Smile

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 26/01/2014 19:09

Culottes just remind me of being a Brownie - shudder. I won't be trying them with my short legs.

Well done on not spending Dry and lovely links, a Mary Katrantzou would be my dream dress.

Actually that's a good example of mig's question, I'd like to think if I had one of her bright print dresses I'd be brave enough to wear it for years, they're just so beautiful and quite me. At the moment though I am trying to mostly buy "classic" stuff until I feel my wardrobe is at the right stage. I would say the only "fashion" things I buy are either cheap jewellery (eg ear cuff) or things that I know I will get lots of wear out of before they go out of fashion (eg gap windowpane jumper, have worn it so much).

MarshaBrady · 26/01/2014 19:13

Culottes remind me of my mother from when I was little!

Fedupnagging · 26/01/2014 19:14

I seem to remember wearing culottes to work in the 80's- don't think I'll wear them again. Both dh and I have ray bans we bought, again back in the 80's. Dh sometimes wears his oh the shame when driving.

Mig I don't normally go for dangly bits on shoes but loved those boots and they are the nearest I'll get to the real thing! Love that yellow coat.

Boden have 20% off some items. Am considering these but not sure if coloured skinnies have had their day? Also like these sandals in blue, gold and zebra!

MarshaBrady · 26/01/2014 19:23

I don't think I am highly fashionable. And very happy to get a big discount on something rather than be one of the first.

In fact now I think about it, the one thing that glares at me from my wardrobe is colourful skinnies. I bought those mid-trend I think.

RubyLovesShopping · 26/01/2014 19:27

I was like umlauf with skinnies- thought they'd never suit me and would be a passing fad, discovered that I love them about 3 years ago and live in them. My coloured ones were very much bought post trend! And most have subsequently been ebayed or charity shopped. Been pondering Mig's question and I don't think I have anything fashionable in my wardrobe, it's all very classic.

Fedupnagging · 26/01/2014 19:27

Yes Marsha, I am always a bit slow on the fashion uptake - think I go for things that I know suit me and then need to be persuaded to try something new. Skinnies being a prime example which I now love.

MarshaBrady · 26/01/2014 19:29

The sales are so early, they pretty much match the seasons. So I'll take a whole load of stuff at 70% off and wear it for a couple of years rather than one fp item right at the start. Am ok with that I think.

Fedupnagging · 26/01/2014 19:30

So, if coloured skinnes are no longer 'on trend', what on earth am I going to wear in the summer? my beloved linen trousers are also dated too apparently
