Chin chin dry

shopafrolic · 28/01/2014 20:09

3 to take
Goldsign Lures
LKB shoe boots
Dagmar sweater

3 to leave
Whistles Lena cream blazer
Jones the Bootmaker brogues
French Connection cowl neck cream blouse

Dry I did use where you live as an example of somewhere new to try!
Mig not sure exactly where you are but I guess you must be close to my inlaws! Grin

Mignonette · 28/01/2014 20:10

I've heard of some get out of jail cards in my time dry but having poured out drinks as not counting is the best ever Grin.

Am now past a whole hour of pondering of Umlaufs question. Still haven't decided. I took less time to decide what to call my children, heck even to decide to have children than I have this.....

Ponders

shopafrolic · 28/01/2014 20:10

And can I squeeze in my Chloe peacoat as an extra?

Mignonette · 28/01/2014 20:11

Shop Yes in the West.

Umlauf · 28/01/2014 20:25

I think I've decided mine...

  1. Levi Curveid jeans, have gone through many jeans but always come back to these
  2. Very old all saints VW-a-like dress that gives me a dream body and is all gothic princess.
  3. Ted baker stickman dress.

I find it hard to find dresses to flatter so those two are my wardrobe diamonds.

Things that don't really work:

  1. Ankle length camel cashmere wool dressing gown coat. (Too long, I feel like a flasher in it)
  2. Whistles Carrie skirts.
  3. Neon acne knit.. Adds lbs
shopafrolic · 28/01/2014 20:26

LOL I'm just catching up on Silent Witness. I used to date this really dodgy DJ years ago who lived on a really horrible estate. The estate is the setting for their murder story. God I was so classy back in the day Blush

Umlauf · 28/01/2014 20:28

I didn't pay the customs on shopbop when ordering the Gigi's today.... Am I going to get stung? It was my first time using shopbop and I was confused!!

LinusDKD · 28/01/2014 20:32

Depends on what the customs regulations are where you live umlauf.

I always choose to pay mine included in the Shopbop price as customs here are ridiculous.

That question is tooooo hard! I can't decide!

Drywhiteplease · 28/01/2014 20:34

Not scary Shop it would be bloody fantastic!!!!!! Wine
Mig I have many "get out of jail cards" Grin

OP posts:
OneLittleLady · 28/01/2014 20:38

My takes would be : M MK blue dress, Leopard print tube skirt and black sheer shirt

Things that don't work: brown cable knit jumper, beige blazer and neon yellow vest

I have never , ever looked good in yellow, brown or beige, I don't know what possessed me!

Mignonette · 28/01/2014 20:41

Here is my first attempt at what I would take- I may have to revise my decision later...

  1. Cigarette pants preferably Helmut Lang in either black navy or charcoal grey.
  1. Ochre Yellow cardigan in wool and cotton blend, v neck three button.
  1. Cream shirt w/ navy pin spots on, loose neck tie in cotton and chiffon.

Or

  1. Indigo narrow jean. Low rise. Cuff and very white selvedge.
  1. Slingback neon yellow shoes with three inch heel
  1. Slouchy grey marl luxe sweatshirt from Givenchy Man (that I nicked from Husband). It has a thick ribbed welt and wide round neck line and is lined with a deep chocolate brown silk cotton.

I can't decide!

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 28/01/2014 21:00

My 3 I love that are really me:

  1. Navy zarita - I love structured lace.
  2. Zara floral neoprene pencil dress - probably my favourite thing to wear right now
  3. J crew pea coat

And 3 that don't work:

  1. All scarves - I would never wear one as an accessory, only to keep my neck warm
  2. Maxi dresses - just so not me, unless maybe tube style.
  3. A black leather midi circle skirt from urban outfitters. Too long on me.

One I am guessing you probably wouldn't be an Autumn then! :)

justasecond · 28/01/2014 21:04

My 3 to take are
zara grey wool wraparound coat, it is unlined and has a hood. Was tempted to get a back up one this year when they did it again.
brown leather ankle boots with low angled heel. These are almost dead but are the sort I wear on a daily basis.
indigo skinnies
Things that unsure of
yellow silk shirt, lovely but unsure how to wear for casual
leopard print cardigan
Flared/bootcut 7FAM jeans (They are nice sort of a modern bootleg)

Lots of trends I have not adopted, maxi dresses for one, really dislike flouncy girly things. Look nice on others though.
Was home all day today and bloody yodel didn't come back with my order. Think I am going off the idea of biker boots.

OneLittleLady · 28/01/2014 21:21

Blair I don't think I'd be an autumn at all, I just don't look at all good in those kinds of colours, in fact, I look my worst! I have a very definite fondness for black (once a goth dontcha know Wink)

Drywhiteplease · 28/01/2014 21:22

Right after much thought, a quick rummage in my wardrobe and a second glass of wine.

The 3 things I'd take:

1.My black crepe shift dress (with gold exposed zip, round neck and sleeveless.Makes me feel sexy, thin and tall. Cheap dress, but I love it and always get compliments.)
2.Whistles Bella dress....similar reasons, fits like a glove,my fav colours, blues and greens.
3.Gap real straight jeans (live in them) or my new 7FAm straight cut. Better than skinny tbh for me.

(It's difficult to stick to 3, I have a cheapo short fitted tweed jacket that I love and some heeled boots because I love a heel)

Things that don't work:

1.A wool/cashmere wrap coat. I bought it because I loved the mint green but it's too thick and bulky around my middle .an expensive mistake.
2.Scholl sandals....hideous,look like Birkenstocks ,feel ugly and short in them.

  1. Wide legged grey wool flannel trousers I bought for work, make me feel frumpy and look bigger than I am.

Mignonette · 28/01/2014 21:25

Justa

I am liking the sound of that yellow blouse and leopard cardigan worn with indigo jeans.

Mignonette · 28/01/2014 21:31

I forgot what doesn't work for me. Hope you have all night.....

  1. Lovely stretch red lace Alaia style dress fitted to waist and circle skirt. Sleeveless and round neck. Basically I am not Michelle Obama who looks amazing in clothes like this. I look like the Fairy (a short fairy) off the Christmas Tree.
  1. Anything belted in. I like belts on a pant. Or on a skirt but belted in things where volume is gathered in looks weird on me. I have a fantasy of being that woman who can belt a thick woollen cardigan or coat and look like the women in the Pure adverts but I am not.
  1. Anything bias cut. They feel like they are going to suffocate they way they wind and wrap round me. I also think they make my arse look huge. Definitely for Shalom Harlow circa Galliano 90 and nobody else. Bias cuts need to be in motion ALL THE TIME, flaring and swirling as you walk (or preferably dance) or they look weird.
Annianni · 28/01/2014 21:33

Shop come up north please
We'll look after you lots of lovely drunken lunches

Dry I've done 33 miles today, I'll get to your house if it kills me!

Whoever suggested 5-2 and mfp, Blair I think... I have no willpower whatsoever.
I need to exercise and then I don't feel too guilty when I pinch Ds2's pom bears.

Things I'd take...

Plum Cos cocoon coat (love it)
Hudson Gia skinnys
Sam Edelman Gwyneths

Other list...

Dunno, will come back to that...

OneLittleLady · 28/01/2014 21:35

I love the sound of that red dress Mig I just love things like that, I wouldn't care if I looked like a christmas fairy, in fact, it'd probably make me wear it more Grin

justasecond · 28/01/2014 21:36

Yes! you are right Mig! That would indeed look good. Would even be good with the bootcuts. Reminds me of a pin I saw a while ago
If those 3 are sorted I would take these instead
Whistles teal wool double breasted coat. Beautiful but feels too smart.
light grey ankle boots
mid blue straight/slim leg jeans.

Mignonette · 28/01/2014 21:46

One it is a beautiful dress. But I don't feel ME in it. Like I am wearing somebody else's life in it. Does that make sense?

I might have said how much I fidget with clothes. When I wear a swishy skirt I always worry that it has ridden up because If I cannot feel it against the back of my legs, that is what I think. So am always checking and pulling clothing down. Nightmare. I'm a neurotic mess Smile

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 28/01/2014 22:07

Wasn't me talking about diets Anni I am still off the being healthy and exercise wagon from christmas Blush I tell myself I will start Shredding again in Feb!

one if you ever do get your colours done I will cross fingers that you are a winter then! Wink

I know those feelings mig - when you love clothes you just want to be totally comfortable in them and feel your best version of you. That sounds silly but you know what I mean!

maradesbois · 28/01/2014 22:10

Hello ladies,

I'm another longtime lurker plucking up the courage to jump in at the mnv deep end! If I may be so bold as to join in your game here are my choices:

Take
Vintage Chanel little white jacket - my wardrobe hero!
Petit bateau mariniere - everyday essential
Pashminas from India - colours numerous incl navy, cream, tan, brown, burgundy...

Leave
Nude topshop platform shoes - don't like platforms but were a panic buy to match a wedding outfit
Bikinis - only do elegant violet lake one pieces post childbirth!
Gap navy jumpsuit - bought for travelling but so impractical

I read a lot of your posts and would like some advice on how to up my game re. casual wardrobe. Think I do well at bags, shoes and scarves/accessories plus smart clothes but less so at winter casual. I live in topshop skinny jeans, t-shirt or gap white shirt & cardigan then rely on the rest to individualise the blandness! My style is pretty classic, am not particularly fashionable as I refuse to pay designer prices for something that will be worn for only one season. Labels I love are stella mc cartney for clothes, hermes for bags, scarves & jewellery, marni for coats & dresses, tod's loafers, ferragamo ballerinas & jimmy choo heels. High st wise my favourite was aubin & wills before its untimely demise (but still have quite a few pieces), zara for tailoring especially blazers, topshop for jeans (but as mentioned above think I need to branch out a little on this front).

I am also an avid bargain hunter and love the outnet, Bicester village and a good root around tk maxx. Anyway, that's enough about me, am supposed to be working. Bonne soirée.

Drywhiteplease · 28/01/2014 22:12

Anni have you seen this looks interesting. Might give it a go on the turbo trainer. Some of the races look a bit hard core though . How funny it would be if you actually made it here!!!!
